Good talk – Thanks Guys! Sounds like my thinking is in line with others. As much as i love buying new gear for the ice, this one doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense for my situation. I am curious to see some reviews as a heater this upcoming season.

I always set a Siri reminder on my phone to call Direct TV the day that my rate is set to increase/ go out of the promotion. Before I call in I will usually pull up some of the competitor’s pricing and have a few cheaper options to explain my cancellation reason. I then call and prompt the automated secretary that I would like to cancel my service. That usually gets you somebody on the phone pretty quick that is willing to negotiate. They seem to always come down quite a bit to keep you as a customer and usually get free NFL Sunday Ticket out of the deal. I am still waiting for the day this game of chicken doesn’t turn in my favor, but it has yet to happen.

For us Ulterra owners, who has the guts to actually try the commercial and launch with the remote?

I’ve done it a few times and it is pretty awesome! Was really hesitant to do it at first, but tried it when my wife was in the boat just in case. Drop it in, deploy, steer with the remote to a safe spot out of the way and spot lock it. Then park the truck and steer it back to the dock to pick me up. Like Joe said, I have always done a quick test to make sure everything is working before going all-in.

I got a Walleye Sweetheart thinking that would be my go-to jigging rod, but it was a little stiff for the majority of my fishing. Smaller Walleye hardly put a bend in the rod. I love that rod, but now only use it for the heavier stuff. This year I got both a TB Perch Sweetheart and a TUCR Fusion and both are great rods. I do have a slight preference to the Perch Sweetheart. That has the perfect feel for me when using 1/8-1/4oz lures.

I had one side of my SI blank as well. Replaced a Y cable and that fixed it.

One thing to try would be to remove the Y cables one at a time and see if that helps narrow the problem down. My locators were acting up last year. I did a quick google search and seen reports of the Y cable that connects in the 2D transducer being bad. I remove the Y cable and everything started working.

    X2 here.
I had a similar issue last year on my G2N and a Y cable was the issue.

In regards to Musky I almost always set the hook with a big sweep to the side slightly downward to avoid the roof of the mouth (hardest part to drive hooks into)when casting. In the figure 8, set the hook towards the tail of the fish when you can to hook the corner of the mouth(again stay low.)

When sucker for Musky you really have to read the fish and set away from the direction the fish is swimming. I use a slack line (just a couple inch dip) set with a sucker to make sure the sucker breaks free from the harness and hopefully drive the hooks into the Muskys mouth.

Can’t wait to feel that soon – you got me excited!

I live near Crooked Lake in Coon Rapids, MN. I walked by it yesterday to see about 3/4 of the ice gone and a Pontoon ripping alongshore! With the warmer temps and rain yesterday the larger lakes probably progressed quite a bit.

I really didn’t add a whole lot of new things to the arsenal this year. I did convert my Helix 10 from the front of my boat to a genz box for the ice. I paired it with a Amped 16ah Lithium and put a glow cup on it. I really like the unit, but it is pretty large so I primarily used it for fishing inside a house.

I agree with always using non-oxy and still use 1oz of seafoam per gallon when storing. I also turn the fuel shutoff valve and let the engine run until it drains out of the lines/carb and keep the tank 3/4 full.

Bring spikes for everyone’s boots if you do go. All the melting on top of the ice will make for some extremely slick conditions.

I have a Helix 10 Chirp G2N and a Helix 12 MEGA SI G2N. I am able to view the Side imaging on my Helix 10.

I believe as long as you have the “N” you can share views and data with the entire network as long as you have the 5 port hub.

for at home, you can really use any plugin aerator. When on the road/ice i use the Clam Lithium aerator. It is pretty quiet, rechargeable and will last all day.

No phone signal is needed for Blue Tipz as they use Bluetooth. I like using the blue tipz receiver to cut the phone out of the picture and not drain battery.

I’ve been using the strike sensors for more than 10 years now too. They have worked fine for me. Just need to make sure your batteries are fresh.

Question on the BlueTipz? Do you need to get a good phone signal for them to work? I’ve never used these.

It can be done both ways, but sometimes they can be really hard to get started and you will need to put all your body weight behind it.

I use the Otter adapter in my 20v Dewalt hammer.

I use 500 sized reels and do not need to fold down handles.

This is what I use. I used to put my lithium shuttle in it, but have moved on to a Helix 10 at times and it fits inside too for great protection!

It comes with Plano type boxes inside, but I only use 1 in the winter for my tackle to free up space inside the bag. It is a pretty large bag, but I use it for my flasher, tackle, lights, release tools, etc. It also doubles as my summer tackle box when I am not chasing Skis.

It appears they may have stopped production, but there are a few sites with stock online.

I personally have the Otter Lodge XTH PRO. I have had a Clam and an Eskimo in the past and like my Otter the best. Very durable, zippers work great, and some added extras like removable windows and built-in tool holders.

The size of the hub is great; I am able to fish up to 4 other people in it fairly comfortably or set it up solo without much hassle.
