Anybody else identify as Native American?? I mean all the same people making the decisions for common folks are the ones supporting co gender and those who identify themselves as animals in public schools and work places. Just identify yourself as Native American and keep whatever you want. Then this can go full circle to how ridiculous all this is with lack of common sense now days. How could they discriminate against one in the court of law?
Almost like the lake is turning over currently the surface is full of debris and dirty. The fish are few and far between some deep some shallow but were very tight lipped the last week. Had to really work hard to get what we did from trolling with lead core to lindy’s to jigs all were tough to get bites. Water temps are 63-65 degrees marked fish from shallow water out to 40 fow and very scattered. Good luck!
Was at Malmo Landing last weekend no DNR on site. Scene from the landing: Walleye being removed from nets, loaded into plastic totes, totes loaded in the truck and off they went. Must be very responsible parties involved with trusting he/she to accurately report back the harvest. *Which I am sure they do* haha
Maybe the bugs will go and hide! WOW they were insane on Saturday!!!!
Not as great as last year but still had decent success. Unreal the number of boats out there!! It was an absolute zoo in some areas on the north end sand almost could walk 1/4 mile from boat to boat it seemed. For the number of boats vs. number of fish caught and seen caught I’d imagine most would say it was an ok opener. Lots of sorting to find the needle in the haystack keeper walleye but managed to find one and released. “One less to count against the quota (DNR)!”

Having drove past it today… I’m going to say April 4th. It’s pulled away from shore and awfully dark!So much for the 2021 year class fish if ice out is early!!
I’ve never heard the correlation between early Ice out and poor walleye year classes, can you expand why this is?
Similar correlation would be….by expanding the deer season by several weeks would that reduce the deer heard? What happens on that lake between ice out and opening weekend of fishing?

Completely agree with this. A two week shut down in early July doesn’t make sense. Aren’t water temperatures normally peaking in August?Last year water temperatures peaked in late June/early July. Generally speaking, water temps are the highest sometime during the month of July.
Additionally, last year there was a month long closure in July. So only having 2 weeks along with harvest in May, harvest in fall, and longer night time fishing in fall is a win in my book.
Not a win but more of a step in the right direction. Completely mismanaged lake and it’s being done to remind the sportsman and sportswomen who is the real boss! (Government) Prior to fishing opener you will see the D governors sending out a message to everyone heading out fishing to social distance and wear your mask(s) just another reminder…do as I say!
2 week shut down in July is a complete joke! Along with the date(s)/time(s) your allowed to fish on a public body of water with live bait. Can’t even target perch with live bait in beginning of July?? Not saying that I would but the more restrictions and mandates DNR/Government/etc. put on people is to remind us that we are/were a free country or abuse of power at hand? All for catch and release but when somebody feels they have the power to tell sportsmen when/where/how they are to fish a public body of water when do we say enough is enough and do something about it?
Lake Mille Lacs businesses shouldn’t complain about business then.
Supply and demand isn’t a problem anywhere else is it??
I agree 100% if they want to charge $11.98 a dozen for shiners up by Mille Lacs and count them out one by one I’ll continue to support other bait stores and pick up bait prior to getting to the lake. Price gouging fisherman who want to support the local Mille Lacs bait stores will not be something I am going to support if the prices do not change. So is it better for a bait store to rip off fisherman for a dozen shiners or better for them to be out of bait? I’d prefer that they run out of bait and post when they will have more in stock, rather than gouge people who are willing to support them. Also, how often do you go into a bait store and just purchase bait? I typically purchase a new jig, pop, beer, or something else to make the stop for bait worth while. I guess that is business they will be missing out on in the future from the group of guys I go fishing with.
Just about all of them I’d imagine since most on the south end are allowing 3/4 gas with tandem axles. Approximately 20 inches of ice as of Monday. Hunter Winfield’s you can get out 1.5 miles.
I’d be very interested to know how you were able to get that to work. Seems like each resort eventually comes to a dead end at least from my experience. Did you use the public access in Isle Bay?
