    Official reply from garmin:
“Thank you for contacting Garmin International.

I’m happy to assist you with this today. Each unit would need their own transducer, NMEA 2000 wouldn’t transfer the necessary data needed for them both to use one transducer, you would need a GPSMAP series device to do that. Please let us know if we can further assist.”

So that sucks but i was expecting this after reading the forum james posted and doing a little more digging myself. The 93sv just arrived today so i’ll have that set up anyways and ponder my options. Thanks everyone for chiming in.

We took it out for a test run and ran it for probably 6 miles until we got it to act up. If i remember right there is a coil for cylinders 2 and 3 and a coil for 1 and 4. When it was acting bogged down we unhooked the coil for cylinders 2 and 3 and there was no change in the way the motor ran. Hooked that coil back up and unhooked the 1 and 4 cylinder coil and the motor went completely dead. The boat has recently went to another shop. Maybe a fresh eye to the situation will catch something.

i know its been a year but thought i would give an update. Problem still exists. The dealer working on it had a yamaha expert come up and do some digging. They suggested switching the pulser coil. Didnt fix it. Then they discovered that wiggling the wiring harness would sometimes make it act up. Switched out the wiring harness and didnt help. Next they suggested that the wiring harness shorted out and ruined the ecm. after a while of debating of throwing an ecm at it they finally did. Still didn’t fix it. Been a bad situation

was doing some thinking, would ethernet allow the sonar to be shared? Still figuring this all out unless nmea 2000 is a form of ethernet? I saw a post about ethernet letting two humminbirds share sonar but don’t know if that would work in this situation. I also sent an email directly to Garmin so will see what they have to say.

Thanks for the info Eric. I was planning on buying the chirp units but if for some odd reason buying last years model would let me be able to share sonar between the two then maybe I would go that route.

According to the tack it’s running a little over a thousand. I talked to a mechanic at my local dealership and he said if the tack is accurate I should be able to adjust it down to about 750 Rpms which should hopefully help.

It does have a vantage on the transom. I ran it in reverse for the day since i didn’t have many other options. Ideally I’d like to be able to just run the motor by itself and not have to worry about a sock or the electric but I might just have to if the motor can’t be adjusted

I read where people suggested that. Tried trimming it up but maybe not as far as I should have
