I was out last Sunday for a couple hours. Gorgeous day, but the boat traffic was nuts. The Minnesota water clarity was very limited and the eye hit on a crankbait.
The photo is not my best effort, but she was a fat 26″.

June 2, 2012 at 12:43 am #1073003After a few weeks of lake fishing up North, looking forward to getting back on the Miss this weekend.
See ya out there!
August 23, 2010 at 12:42 am #894937Those photos are enough motivation for me. I’m hitting the water tomorrow!
Nice fish Mike.
August 22, 2010 at 9:49 pm #894922I was out on Thursday on the upper half of P2 and the current was faster than typical for this time of year. A bit of wood, but nothing extraordinary.
Trolling cranks was the best with the largest coming in at 22″ – the rest were <18″.
Shoes and sunglasses were not on the end of my line, but I did catch my first prophylactic. Don’t ask – all I can say is it wasn’t in packaging.
Hitting it again on Monday from 494 landing.
June 6, 2010 at 2:29 am #877628I agree with everything Drewsdad says. Find some fishy spots with current seams/breaks. Pool 2 can be gracious or stingy.
Good luck.June 1, 2010 at 9:58 pm #876588Great fish Mike! That 30″ mark is an elusive lady to track down.
Could you send one my way? Please….
April 28, 2010 at 8:16 pm #867610Shoreline current seams have been best for me recently. Last Sunday we boated over a dozen eyes in a shoreline area no larger than my bathroom. Jimmy’s River Bugs have been the ticket recently.
My go to wing dams have not been productive for me recently with the high fast water.
Nice fish sippi!
April 13, 2010 at 7:15 pm #272949I was out on Sunday as well. What a beautiful day to be on the water. Spent most of our time working seams that were close to shore lines. The bite wasn’t on fire, but this 25″ post spawn girl inhaled a hair jig. The tug of the current can really fool a guy into thinking he has hooked a whopper! Don’t be fooled by the blood, I’d bet my favorite St. Croix that this gal is still swimming.
January 21, 2010 at 6:49 am #834617I have both. My BB is great for work applications and a static keyboard reliability. But, I must say the Android OS is sweet for recreational use. I think the near future doesn’t smell like fresh berries.
December 5, 2009 at 6:13 pm #820713Walker Bay area would be great. We will be staying on Kabekona Bay at a cabin.
Thanks for the quick responses!
July 20, 2009 at 8:54 pm #791768Nice Fish Micah.
It has been forever since I have posted or even lurked around on IDO. I found myself heading out to P2 on a regular basis, thinking I knew what to do to catch fish. Most of the time I’m either right or lucky (most likely the latter) and find some willing fish. But, I was checking some posts out last week and realized I have been neglecting some fantastic presentation options as the bite and flow has been changing. Thanks to everyone that makes this the best fishing resource on the net!
Here’s an 29.25″ eye from a recent outing.
October 13, 2007 at 3:44 am #616164Thanks for the info Prof and Rootski. Good to hear things are looking better on my favorite stretch of river. I’ll be out most of Saturday afternoon.
September 29, 2007 at 1:42 pm #611980Nice fish guys. I’m going to get out on P2 Sunday and see if I can track down of few of those eyes myself.
September 20, 2007 at 3:20 am #609623I was out on Sunday and noticed the first can south of 494 missing as well. I think it was further down the river towards the middle of the channel. The barges were having fun trying to steer around it.
It was a bit slow for us – a handful of white bass, a sheepie and one 24″ eye. The eye was caught in shallow water off a deep break in one of the few areas we found current.
Come on fall bite….
July 17, 2007 at 7:05 pm #591225Thanks for the information! I have already contacted and heard back from Chip.
I’m really looking forward to my first Lake Michigan fishing experience!July 1, 2007 at 7:37 pm #585975The bite was a bit slow for me as well. The weather and people watching was top-notch.
The river traffic was buzzing on Saturday…
June 29, 2007 at 10:00 pm #585713I’ve been out a few times fishing the upper half (north of 494)of P2. Most of my success has come from pitching and trolling cranks to wing dams, rock piles and shoreline current breaks. It’s been tough to beat a Bomber 6A in my favorite Mississppi pattern.
No hogs to report, but consistent action.
June 5, 2007 at 2:54 am #577908I had some takers on a few main channel wingdams on Sunday. In addition we took a couple fish off some rip rap while trolling #7 shad raps in one pass. It looked promising, but I hated to troll when we could pitch plastics. There will be plenty of pulling cranks as the summer moves along.
Like fish them all, I too thought, I had a monster eyeball hat morphed into a nice plump cat. It was great to be back on the river, it had been too long.
When I was pulling my boat out of the water I had a chance to chat with Fish them all. Nice talking to an fellow IDA guy.
June 5, 2007 at 2:27 am #577901I just ate at the River Boat Grill last weekend with my daughters after hitting the farmers market. Chow was pretty solid. If you are fishing, I would recommend calling ahead to have your food ready to go when you arrive.
From the looks of it I wouldn’t mind sipping a cool one on the upper deck during a summer evening.
May 17, 2007 at 3:39 am #572032Thanks for the info guys. I’m looking forward to a few days on the water.
April 17, 2007 at 11:13 pm #561846We just enjoy giving you a hard time Steve; we know you have the thick skin to take it!
Has anyone starting pulling cranks yet? I would imagine if the temp is approahing 50 degrees a could pound some water to locate fish.
April 16, 2007 at 7:45 pm #561326I spent half a day Sunday on P2 and had similar results. Pitching plastic, hair and blades in a number of different locations,, all south of 494. The water is coming down and the clarity is slowly, slowly improving.
I’m feeling the need for a DeeZee report to make me remember that there are still big walleyes in P2.
April 14, 2007 at 1:17 am #560607I’m a huge fan of puddle jumpers on a 1/32 or 1/16 jig under a float. It’s nice not worrying about live bait.
April 4, 2007 at 3:47 am #556660Thanks for the quick report Dave. I was out on Sunday without much to show for the effort. I was able to avoid the rocks at the ramp, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. The eddy in front of the ramp makes for a fun landing scenario.
March 30, 2007 at 10:14 pm #555247I’ll be getting out this weekend, finally!! I plan on working some previous spring favorites and see if I’ll have anything to show for it.
I hope to be able to post some better results because of improving conditions. It certainly won’t be because of my fishing prowess.December 29, 2006 at 3:25 pm #516371Nice fish gentlemen! I had no idea of the morbid obesity problem we had going on in Pool 2. Should we offer some Weight Watchers options for the ladies?
