How does that fluid smell? Burnt?

You can buy a better truck for cheaper. Some mechanic will buy that off you for $500.

Those dodge of that era was never shipped with a tranny cooler. My tranny guy says for the $100 for an external cooler, it’s the best insurance you can buy.

Canada is not like the US when it comes to lodges for sportsmen, especially Lake Winipeg. Summer fishing is good, but the 9th largest body of fresh water could get pretty rough. The lower basin is 12 ft close to shore and 22-25 ft in the middle with underwater sand reefs all over the place.

Now winter fishing is awesome. We went last weekend and I tried hard water fishing for the first time on the east side of the lake where my cottage is. We we in about 9ft of water and used live minnows. Had only 2 over 23″ and a whack of pound and a halfers. We aere all real hapt since we were on for the first time. There is a casino hotel and another one on that side as well. The west side has the twn of Gimli that has a real nice hotel conference centre. Not many americans up here since LOTW is three hours closer from the cities and totally caters to sportsmen.

Just got my old Evenrude 150 rebuilt for under 3 grand. The 4 stroker would have been twice that much. Something to think about….

Good times up there. We go snowmobiling up there in Ottermere Lake every winter. Hard water fishing is great there as well. Nice report.

I’m sure it has a good tranny cooler. The guy at the local rad shop told me that you can never run a tranny too cold.
How big is that mill in the F250?

Our group from Canada had a great time at this year’s event. The bite was slower than years before. And there were a few loogins on the water. None from the IDO group.(No, Kooty didn’t qualify for that badge…..yet!).

The IDO dinner and gathering at the Wigwam was alot of fun. I reconnected with some good friends. Good to see the boys and meet some new faces that I see online. Thanks again Francis. An invite to you catters to come up north this summer for some Red River hogs. Thanks for all the work getting this together. We’re already planning for next year.

Ya gotta realize that there are alot of different groups that were there for the weekend. I think that the IDO group was only about 25% of the numbers on the lake. We were at the Sportsman and the group of 50 young bucks come every year and have their own mini tournament. $20 entry fee. Real loud at night and as we drove up a group were fighting. I think we were the only IDO boat there.

We did notice the same breed of loogins weave through a group of 20 boats like a James Bond boat chase. The second time they clipped us we put our hands up “What are ya doin’ guys?”. They few flew us the bird and never stopped.

From the US side website, questions, search for “children”

    http://www.cbp.gov/

Adults traveling in or out of the United States with children under the age of 18 should be aware of the following:

    * because of increasing incidents of child abductions in disputed custody cases and as possible victims of child pornography, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strongly recommends that unless the child is accompanied by both parents
    * the adult have a note from the child’s other parent (or, in the case of a child traveling with grandparents, uncles or aunts, sisters or brothers, or friends, a note signed by both parents) stating “I acknowledge that my wife/husband/etc. is traveling out of the country with my son/daughter. He/She/They has my permission to do so.”
    * CBP also suggests that this note be notarized.

While CBP may not ask to see this documentation, if we do ask, and you do not have it, you may be detained until the circumstances of the child traveling without both parents can be fully assessed.
If there is no second parent with legal claims to the child (deceased, sole custody, etc.) any other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, birth certificate naming only one parent, death certificate, etc., would be useful.

Adults traveling with children should also be aware that, while the U.S. does not require this documentation, many other countries do, and failure to produce notarized permission letters and/or birth certificates could result in travelers being refused entry. (Canada has very strict requirements in this regard.)
