    I have not been out but I have been told the thickest ICE around is 3″.

    Contact Hutch at riverwalleyes.com. I used him twice last year on pool 9 trying to do the same thing you are. We fished in March and April. Even though I have fished pool 9 for quite awhile I never really got the hang of fishing walleyes there. He also provided some good insight to smallies that paid off this last year.
