Yes. I’m guessing they going about a month ago. Found ours soaking cut bait on current seams yesterday. Find a seam, fish it for maybe a half hour and move on. Violent strikes on that cut bait. Wasn’t sure if the rod holder was going to survive. Got 6 nice channels midday yesterday moving around trying different spots.

What rod/reel/line set up do you like fishing for Channels?

What weight size would you use now on the Minnesota River?

If it’s like the Croix right now some spots I’m throwing 5 and some 3.

I feel you definitely depends a lot on the scenario.

Being a single guy that doesn’t plan on getting married $65,000 a year just isn’t enough, especially if I want a house. I’d like to do something that is more gratifying (I’m basically a laborer now). Making six figures would be nice, but isn’t that what everyone wants?

Being single and making that should put you in a decent house, depending on where you live. I bought my first house for about $200k when I was single making less than that about 10 years ago.

Working for a public entity like a parks dept may not put you in a high pay category, but I’ll bet you already have good healthy benefits, retirement, and a lot of time off. Those are items you need to consider. Is making more money potentially worth losing those perks? Just something to weigh on such a decision.

Basically, the only benefit of my jobs the time off that I get. The health benefits and retirement aren’t as good as what everybody thinks they are working for a public entity. I would have zero issue giving up days off to make more money.

No I don’t know anyone who does it that I could shadow. I’m 35 years old so not too young anymore. I’m pretty sick of the public works job. Everybody is lazy and useless and the money will never be there. I know I can do better.

I sliced mine pretty good with my auger and brought them to a local Tailor in town. 10 bucks and it was repaired nicely

Thicker insulation and a grippier bottom. I just bought mine about a month and like them so far.

This year I got a pair of Muck Arctic Ice’s that I’ve worn for late fall fishing. So far so good and 100% waterproof. I also have a pair of Baffin Titans that are extremely warm but I don’t like the mobility factor they are too big. like others have said get Marino wool socks for breathability.

Disappointing to see people treat a resource in this manner.

We usually rent a house. We are pretty serious fisherman so not much beer drinking… Walleye, Crappie‘s are the main fish targeted.

Good sell your boat, don’t fish, and keep less fish so the lakes will be better.

They’ve always worked great for me. I keep the jars in a Mason Jar (canning jar) to prevent leaking.

I have had that happen with my Kahoola Micro Spikes in slushy conditions. I jump up and down like a child throwing a temper tantrum and the packed snow comes off.

Kenders, Acme, and Custom Jigs & Spins have about everything you’d need.

Had the same issue. It was the clutch spring.

How do you guys go about finding lakes that hold Bigger Sized Bluegills? I know the list of lakes in Ottertail County is endless.

I’d go with an Otter. Quality wise I think that’s the best house on the market.

I’m 50/50 on the fence about this subject also. I have a Thorne Brothers Dead Stick. It’s a nice rod but I don’t catch any more fish with it then I would a $20 or $40 rod. I usually don’t use a bobber with it though but sometimes I will. The Clam Jason Mitchell Meat Sticks seem decent for the price.
