This breaks it down in English… DEI Amendment

It is in english, but politically persuasive english in the form of an editorial.

Where are they getting the $25 million annually number for the community grant advisory council? The total amount of 2024 funds available to the LCCMR via the ENRTF is just under $80 million. The 1.5% proposed to be given to the community grant advisory council would only be $1.2 mill. The MN state lottery sales last year were $787.2 million. If the community grant advisory council received 1.5% from that total that still would only be $11.8 million. That $25 mill/year number is so incredibly false propaganda.

Getting so hung up on 1.5% piece of a pie to vote no on environmental related funding, and letting it go into general funding, is completely ridiculous IMO.

Werm, I think you may be confusing the ENRTF and the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. Those are two different funds.
ENRTF is lottery funds passed in 1988.
Legacy Amendment is 0.375% tax passed in 2008.

Anywhere from 52-55 depending on time of day.
Caught a lot of fish on one lake on Saturday morning, then went to a different lake in the afternoon and struggled. That same lake we caught a lot of fish a week earlier.

The last two weekends were the best two consecutive weekends all year for me, largemouth only, and chunky fish. Green weeds, especially cabbage, are key. Bass have been on the top edge of weed flats, 5-10ft. Crankbaits have been by far the best choice, but also caught fish on colorado or oklahoma blade spinnerbaits, nothing on willowleaf. I love casting cranks, second favorite method after topwater, so its been a lot of fun. This past weekend we caught close to 100 bass but only about 5 pike total, which was very strange. The weekend before it was about 60/40 bass to pike.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been fired this morning. Can’t help but think that the Vikings had something to do with that after the result in London on Sunday.

Can’t help but think that Aaron Rodgers had something to do with that.

I’m not a big Rocco fan, but I don’t think you can put last night’s extra inning loss on him or really even the bullpen. He actually kept Ober in the game through 7, unlike Ober’s last start when he was rolling and the bullpen immediate blew it. Varland and Duran each had 1-2-3 innings in relief. And with a runner on 2B to start an extra inning it’s not terribly difficult to score multiple runs on softer hits like Cleveland did.
However, on Tuesday night despite their win, I couldn’t understand Rocco’s move to take out Wallner and have Margot pinch hit for him. I know it was because Cleveland brought in a lefty and was playing the L/R matchup, but come on. Take out the guy who had driven all your runs in the game at the time for a guy who was 0-28 in pinch hitting on the season and then set the record at 0-29.

Sometimes the home lake advantage ends up hurting an angler, but certainly not the case for Fothergill. The total unknown of the lake for 95% of the field is a huge advantage for him. But no doubt the kid knows how to catch fish anywhere in the country as evident by his results and AOY standing.

Lots of compliments on the fishery and area from the anglers during weigh-in. But plenty of comments on the fish being tough to bite, especially after the pressure from practice.

After a cancelled day yesterday ( Not sure why. I’m told the forecaster they used for weather was way off in the wind speed ) They are up and running on Leech lake today. From Basstrak it looks like some really decent bags of fish are being recorded. It will be interesting to see how much the SM are playing a roll on Leech.

There was also a storm that rolled through in the morning too, not just wind. But overall it does seem that the wind wasn’t quite as bad as they anticipated.

Looking like a great battle for AOY. Pulling for Chris Johnston to take. He’s having a great day with 28 and change!

Ya it was great to see Chris win the AOY and his brother Cory win the event. Those Johnston brother are great fishermen. Finishing 1 and 4 in this event and 1 and 3 in the AOY. Also have to give it to the rookies. Mckinney finishing 2nd in the AOY and 3rd in the tourney and Gee finishing 2nd at this tourney. Great class of rookies this year.
Sad to see Rick Clunn and Frank Talley retiring, but it was probably over due for both of them. Neither has been competitive in the AOY for many years now.

Helluva year for the rookies, with 9/10 finishing in the top 28 places in AOY! Goes to show that the new EQ qualifying rules are working to bring in elite ready anglers. But those finished didn’t come without some growing pains.
McKinney would have likely easily won AOY too had he not had his day 2 weight at Smith Lake disqualified, which placed him in 93rd place. Then JT Thompkins was DQ’d from the St. Lawrence for receiving waypoints. Tough learning lesson for those kids.
What a finish to the year for Gee. Finishing 2-3-2 in this last 3 events, to go along with a 4th place finish in his very first elite tournament.

I can’t help much with brand recommendations, but great idea to get the boy some tools. My uncles got me a nice complete set of Craftsman tools (sockets, wrenches, drivers, etc) for my HS graduation that I keep in my truck and have been put to good use over the years for many different repairs/projects.

I’m sure FFS does have an effect on educating the fish, but the SLR/Thousand Islands has gotten so much pressure in the last number of years with elites, mlf, opens, college, high school and other local tournaments becoming more prevalent there. Plus more of them seem to be going out into the lake rather than sticking to the river. I think a combination of fishing pressure and FFS has educated the fish.

The weather looks real nice out there and lots of anglers are out on the lake.
I’m not sure how deep everyone is fishing, but Chris Johnston had his sonar showing and he was fishing in less than 20′. He even went “old school” and has been catching fish on a tube jig!

Wes Logan sat down with Dave Mercer on his podcast to tell the story of his boating accident. 9:00 to 14:00 mark covers what happened and his rebuttal to those who question his driving.

    ^^100% with dirtywater post

I don’t understand how some have such strong opinions on this with such little information. I mean I spent 5 minutes watching a couple videos while taking a dump and already notice misinformation in these strong opinions… like the boat he was driving and that he was prefishing (he was in a tourney day, and came back to finish the day).

I’d imagine insurance will inspect the boat and watch the video and interview anyone involved if necessary to make a lot more informed opinion that watching a 20 second youtube clip.

Is there a world where maybe the submerged dock section or whatever didn’t rip the motor off but maybe it hits enough of the hull that combined with the speed and conditions it throws him into the 180 and that rips the motor off? I feel like there’s a 100 different ways it could have happened but so many are convinced they know exactly what did or did not happen based on a 20 second youtube clip.

    Yup. It’s baffling.

I share that theory, but also that the motor also hit the object and while that itself didn’t rip the motor completely off, but it may partially broke (pictures seem to indicate it was the motor’s bracket that broke) and the combination of speed and waves and spin caused it to completely rip off. Pictures show some scratches on the LU of the motor, and in a follow up video from Wes he said that people found “pieces of floating platform…boards sticking up from the water a few hundred yards from where the boat was and it looked I like I obviously ran over it.”

Very similar incident and outcome last year for this boater running the MS River, but only small ripples on the water so no waves for the bow to bounce off of.

this is stupid to me. It’s easier to unclip a tether than to remove the pfd, and there are more & better reasons to leave it on than to remove it.

Tourny guy. Needs both on when the motor is started. Just easier to keep inside the rule book to do it that way.

    -J.

This is true. Every morning just before takeoff there are tournament officials that ensure that each boat has a working kill switch & tether, and by having it attached to the PFD it’s the easiest for them to ensure they are following the rules.

dirtywater, I don’t disagree with your statement. Just saying why I assume he took off his life jacket.

Yeah I’m good at 25mph thank you very much!

I love how the first thing this dude does is take off his PFD. Don’t get me wrong it’s good he was wearing it and the kill switch, but that seemed stupid to me under the circumstances. If I just lost my motor I am assuming there may be hull damage as well, so I’m going to stay prepared for the worst.

I noticed that too, but I’m guessing it’s out of habit when getting up from the driver’s seat. The kill switch tether is on the PFD so they don’t unhook that every time they get up to fish. They take off the PFD with tether still attached instead.

I want to hear that they found the dock and that there is damage to the hull. Hitting a dock with your motor will not cause the bow to rise up and the boat to spin around.
Remember that’s an 18ft tin boat, not a 20+ glass boat like most run. To me it seems he’s covering his tail for over driving the conditions.

It was indeed a 20+ glass boat, not a 18ft tin boat. It was a Skeeter FXR20.
Why are you so hellbent on not believing the story? He later posted another short video to say that they found some floating dock sections a few hundred yards away.

I saw a girl dressed up in very strange makeup/clothing this summer (not an animal but quite colorful) at an outdoor event. I was watching her and the whole time her group was visiting her eyes were darting around at whoever was walking by. It was obvious she was watching to see who was looking at her or noticing her apearance. I believe they are nothing more than attention seeking folks who for whatever reason are in dire need of being noticed, nothing more than that. Just a spinoff of people who post every aspect of their lives on facebook or social media as if anyone really cares.

    Feel sorry for them actually.

Like taking a picture of someone in public and feeling the need to share it on a fishing forum (social media) to ridicule them, as if anyone really cares.

I’ve been watching a little bit of the Live coverage and haven’t seen a lot of scoping going on. Feider has been flipping almost all day, catching two 5+ pounders. The largemouth are definitely playing a role.

I’ve had some issues with the trilene knot on flouro too. I’ve had better success with the polomar knot. However, I prefer to use the trilene or clinch knot for mono and braid.

Pretty wild, Castro has been hit 5 times in the past 5 games, 2 times 2 games in a row…

You wonder what the message from the other team is – that he’s been hitting well, so scare/hurt him and make him less aggressive. Or he’s leaning over the plate taking too much of the strike zone. Or they think he’s a dink.

When I pitched, I’ll admit I didn’t bean many but there were reasons when I did..

On the radio last night they were saying that Castro had been struggling mightily on low and inside pitches and that was the scouting report for the opposing pitchers. Turns out they’re getting a little too inside and he’s getting plunked.

Very easy to connect/disconnect as Stanley said, by pressing the tabs on the ends of the connector.

The lesson to be learned is don’t split the pre-launch duties. Either have the kid do it all while you sit and watch or do it all yourself.

Lesson learned for both or you. Now have some fun.

Agreed. Boat owners should have a launching routine and having another person “help” usually doesn’t help anything at all. Part of my routine now if I have another person with me is to politely tell them that I have a routine and have it all handled myself.
