Triple up some wax paper over the end of you flashlight and hold it on with a rubber band if you don’t have a red lamp. Filtered light is harder for them to sense and no one will “borrow” your light with the slime cover on! Picking worms is just another reason to justify not putting down chemicals on the yard

Its rated up to 115 I think and has undergone “significant” modifications. Had remote steering originally. I like the Yamaha 40 but looks like it only comes with nitro assist as a tiller, which I’m not 100% sure I’d like.

Have had quite a few people say 14 so I think that is the direction we’ll head. Does it tend to be a wingdam, trolling clam beds or pitching bite during the summer?

Thanks for the feedback! I’m going to have to give it a go. Could just go well before shooting hours and roll into the duck blind at legal time after fishing a few hours…

Are you guys using the superlines using a mono leader or do you directly tie to the bait?

What would you throw in the colder temps? Jointed shad raps are our bread and butter a lot of the time then jigs with meat…

How far into the winter/spring do you usually run at night?

Thanks for the input. Since I have two “net girls” that are 2 and 6 that are usually along to help are there any that float or is there a simple way to make sure they do? Won’t be fun watching the expensive neck launch overboard…

Sounds much like the 18 report. I have been catching smallmouth south of Burlington on also every trip had about a half dozen today, which is more than I usually catch in a year down here. Very interesting

Thanks for all the info. As the only family member to branch into chasing eyes this forum has really helped accelerate my learning curve. Handlining looks like something that could be real effective in the spots I am having troubles getting down at. I have tried three ways and get hung a lot. Will have much to test when the ice leaves. Fished 19 for awhile yesterday afternoon until the storm blew us off. Caught a few cats and eyes, but did alot of bounce with the big boats to get them. Felt like a halfback running through the line as the big boats raced the lightning back to the ramps. Fish gotta eat though.

I actually do most my fishing on 19 and its been a good year here too. I do some duck hunting up in 18, but haven’t really fished it. Should be busy the next couple days out there. Good luck. Ben
