For those that think that think people from other countries shouldnt be able to own property in the US, what are your thoughts on people from and living in the US owning land in other countries? I know people that own property and cabins in Canada

I do remember seeing an article a few months ago that the Canadian Government is noticing more and more properties being bought up by companies in China and it is causing issues with their housing market

I remember as a kid saving up to buy a Mepps… they were the best artificial, especially the bucktail version. I still have a few (and some Roostertails) that I throw when I fish small streams and rivers from shore

I have to say where I go in Canada, there is no comparison for walleye fishing aside from getting lucky here in the US somewhere every once in a while. I fish the English River NE of Kenora for a week every June. With 2 guys in the boat, if we dont catch 100 or more walleyes in a day, its a slow day (we keep track every day)

Here in WI, a 100 walleye day is very very rare but has happened

For that reason alone, our group will continue to fish for a week in Canada as long as we are allowed/welcomed

Also, this winter the wife and I went ice fishing in Canada on LOTWs and had a blast and we rebooked for next winter already. Hopefully the pissing match just blows over as the initial reason for the tariffs was BS anyway (fentanyl from Canada, really?)

I don’t know how you guys can do it. I drive by the line up in international falls all the time in the summer and it’s literally miles long. It must take hours and hours to get through. You know the line is moving slow when there people standing in the grass on the side of the road shooting the $hit drinkin beers.

We typically cross between 5AM and 6AM on a Saturday morning, it goes very quick. Im sure it helps when they run the truck plates and scan the passports they can see we cross every year and have not been flagged for any issues.

If Im understanding correctly, we will need to keep and show all receipts for any food and fuel we bring across and then pay a tariff on it?

Not the end of the world, just wondering how they would calculate the tariff and if we would be able to confirm how accurate the cost is? Also, this will make border crossing a very long process, may be best to cross very early or vary late as they very well need to go thru everything in all vehicles and boats.

I know I pack my food in coolers and totes so going thru every item to determine the tariff amount will take some time. Multiply that by 3 or 4 guys per truck?

I prefer Humminbird units. I am very used to how they work and their menu setups and the ability to have the Lakemaster chip is a huge plus for me

Probably don’t have to worry about heat, but there have been many posts over the years about mice chewing on shelters stored in garages over summer and that the mice also nest and pee in them.

I keep my flip over out in my shed and put a bunch of dryer sheets in it, it has kept the mice away

Nice! I ice fished part of that pete or castle rock flowage once when I was a kid visiting my step dad’s family years ago and caught a big crappie along with multiple eater sized walleyes. Don’t know exactly where I was but very backwater-ish near a culvert. Was fun.

Have you ever kept and eaten a catfish? Me and a friend kept an 18 or so inch channel on the st croix a few years ago and bled and fried it like you would a walleye and when we talked again it turned out we both liked it. It was nice and flakey and mild— not much gamey taste at all. Also the same year we each kept a smaller white <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass just to try and same conclusion. I couldn’t tell you which filet was a <em class=”ido-tag-em”>bass or walleye, honestly.

I havent kept any of the channel cats I have caught over the years, mainly because I have walleyes or panfish. I do know there are people that do target channel cats on Petenwell though since there are plenty of them there

I have a Husky rechearchable headlamp that you can remove the battery pack and replace with 3AAA batteries. It works great in the short term, but is heavy and the rechargable battery is not as good as 3 AAA

We are 3 lines for open water and ice here in WI. Ice fishing, I typically have my 3 lines in unless Im strictly bluegill fishing. I would have 1 jigging rod, 1 deadstick and 1 tipup in for pretty much everything else (sometimes it would be 1 jigging rod and 2 tipups)

Open water, I will use 3 lines for trolling or if Im spot locked and jigging (2 jigging and 1 deadstick)

It can get a bit hectic at times but that makes for more fun (or frustration lol)

Not trying to be a dink or anything but why do you guys even mess around with the drill powered augers? Those electric augers get fire saled this time a year and are probably way cheaper than a drill and a bit. That strikemaster 24 volt was like $299

Its pretty rare that I have to drill thru more than 24in of ice and never have an issue with my 6in K-Drill or 8in Lite Flite with my Milwaukee drill for the past 5+ years. The drill I can use year round, no need to by an electric auger to use it for 3months out of the year

I prefer anything between 28in and 32in and I have went toward all noodle rods versus graphite with a spring boober (not to say I wouldnt get a graphite rod with a build in bobber again)

I have a 28in DH Customs Al Dente, a 32in JT Rogue and a 32in TUCR Precision Noodle (sold the TUCR Bullwhip, not a fan personally). I cant say I have a favorite between the 3, it really depends on the jig size I am using, I generally dont go heavier than a 4.5mm or 5mm at the most and go as small as 3mm. Typically have the 3mm tied on the Al Dente as that rod is the lightest/most sensitive of the 3 although they are all pretty close that I dont know if a fish would feel any difference

Understood, this specific group of people are the issue and I agree. I dont care if they are trans or anything else, they are murders and need to be held accountable

When it comes to everything else about other peoples beliefs or sexuality, everyone can mind their own business and dont make your/their business mine and everything will be great. Nobody should force their beliefs and opinions on others

That said, dont be in my fishing spots…. they are mine and nobody elses… chased jester

So this is a weird leftist tranny group or some crap ?
As a society we need to come back to public shaming these freaks. Not try and say we need to accept every one.

Who would you publicly shame – this individual group or all trans?

With the politics in Canada being worse then any one’s ever seen, I wouldn’t move there but if so I’d be between sask and Ontario. Hard to know if I want to fish or hunt more.

Are the politics worse up there than they are here? I was up there last weekend and didnt see signs in anyone’s yards or hear any political talk between all of the stops I made in Fort Frances or Kenora before fishing on LOTW

Seemed like everyone just minded their own business and was polite as Canadians usually are. Not sure if anyone has had a negative experience in Canada over the past few months?

If you don’t mind me asking, what did 2 6 amp Milwaukee batteries cost you?

It was $155 for the 2pk of the 6ah HO batteries on Walmarts website

I ended up going with the 2pk of the 6ah HO batteries versus the single 12A Forge. I went this route because I could drill a lot of holes with the original standard 5ah batteries my drill came with so 6ah HO batteries would be a step up for sure, I was also concerned about the weight of the 12ah battery if Im using the drill over my head for anything outside of ice fishing and I would rather have 2 batteries instead of 1 in case the 1 goes bad at some point, I still would have another to get me thru until I can replace the bad one

I bought a 2B Fishing Savant last year, never got to use it. Used it quite a bit this year, its a great rod for crappies, perch and light bite walleyes

We use rubber floor mats for under our boots when fishing in the flip over. It makes a big difference not having the bottom of your boots on bare ice, althought it wont helpn if hole hopping

I have become a big fan of the JT Custom Snare rods, but they are on the pricey side as with most of the rods builders. I thought there were a few guys on this side that build rods, maybe they might be an option?

Home Depot 1 gal Paint rack $4 They also make a 3 gal rack that fits the Big Buddy $6. No mods needed flip upside down and it hooks on the handle. I just bought one of each last week.

Picked up the 1gal paint rack last week to try out. Worked great for a few cheddar sausages on Saturday and a can of spagettios w/ meatballs on Sunday

I always take a small jump pack (the size of a cell phone) when Im in the boat or on the ATV in the winter.

Had an issue with the ATV starting single digit temps once about 2miles from the access point, I know the feeling of a sinking heart. Luckily for me, the only 2 people I could see on the lake had jumper cables

Since then I bought the jump pack and have only had to use it once but I take it with in the boat all spring/summer/fall and on the ATV in the winter

Last fall I helped someone at the launch with his boat, he left the master power on overnight and his 200hp Merc wouldnt start. He was impressed with the little jump pack for sure

picked up the 1gal rack yesterday, going to try it out this coming weekend, menu is yet to be determined but the rack fit fine with a little slight bending of the tray
