I have become a big fan of the JT Custom Snare rods, but they are on the pricey side as with most of the rods builders. I thought there were a few guys on this side that build rods, maybe they might be an option?

Home Depot 1 gal Paint rack $4 They also make a 3 gal rack that fits the Big Buddy $6. No mods needed flip upside down and it hooks on the handle. I just bought one of each last week.

Picked up the 1gal paint rack last week to try out. Worked great for a few cheddar sausages on Saturday and a can of spagettios w/ meatballs on Sunday

I always take a small jump pack (the size of a cell phone) when Im in the boat or on the ATV in the winter.

Had an issue with the ATV starting single digit temps once about 2miles from the access point, I know the feeling of a sinking heart. Luckily for me, the only 2 people I could see on the lake had jumper cables

Since then I bought the jump pack and have only had to use it once but I take it with in the boat all spring/summer/fall and on the ATV in the winter

Last fall I helped someone at the launch with his boat, he left the master power on overnight and his 200hp Merc wouldnt start. He was impressed with the little jump pack for sure

picked up the 1gal rack yesterday, going to try it out this coming weekend, menu is yet to be determined but the rack fit fine with a little slight bending of the tray

Do you guys make your own rack to attach to the Buddy heater. I just got a new Buddy heater and was thinking about getting a baking rack and cutting/bending it to make it easy to attach to the grate on the heater.

Wife and I are doing LOTW out of Kenora for a 3 night stay in an Ice Castle in early February. The outfitter does his own ice road and provides everythimg but bait and food

Is a Flowage similar to a Reservoir? I Fish a few flowages winter and summer and having good mapping is key. I look for sharp breaks or turns in the main river channel and fish the edges. When I work areas and find trees or brush piles, I certainly mark them and work that area too, jigging and with tipups

I got a Front 1/4 this past spring, estimate on the phone was $800ish, bill was $1000 but the total weight of what I brought home was higher that they quoted. Brought home around 180lbs of meat between burger, chuck roasts, ribeyes, short ribs and shoulder roasts

It certainly tastes better then meat from our local big box store and the price is right in line

Update here, so after using the Walleye Snare last weekend for the first time, I am impressed I have it spooled up with 6lb Sufix Ice Magic Mono and the first fish of the day was 25in walleye on that rod. It handled it really well. The next fish on that rod of the day was a 11in perch. I watched both fish hit and saw the rod slowly bend and load up and just simply picking up the rod versus a fast hook set worked great.

That said, I still really like the Panfish version as well, but that would be limited to places where I expect crappies and perch. In those situations, I will bring the Walleye Snare too, to compare them head to head

For central WI, the 1st weekend of December is looking like a possibility on some small back bays or backwaters, only shallow water stuff but better than nothing. Hope the forecast stays like it looks beyond the next 2 weeks to give southern WI a chance by mid December

Forecast is looking good for ice in northern MN and North Dakota as early as next week on smaller lakes, maybe the week after in central and northern WI

I am not sold on the splitters that push the blade into a flat stop… How many times, especially a gnarly wood.. do you load the next piece to finish the previous split through the fixed blade ? Not sure you can do that with the Stop being the fixed position. Anybody have experience with both ?

It hasnt happened to me in 15+ years, but the gnarliest wood I split is ash. Its stringy sometimes but manageable

The splitter in the pic above is pretty close to mine, and $800 is a great deal

Its not realistic to think we will be able to stop everyone who tries to cross illegally into this country, they will always find a way. That being said, there has to be ways to make it harder for them to do so, it just comes down to the cost to do so.

Having a tough time making it thru the early fights and announcers….. Seems like the crowd there isnt very excited either (or no crowd there?)

So far it seems like a made for TV event rather then a sport event which is sad

Mine is a 25 Ton Speeco splitter, it has never not split anything I put on there. Most of the wood I split is oak and ash (which can be stringy and tougher to split)

It does have the option to tilt up if there is something too heavy to lift

Its all just a money grab but I will probably watch it over watching my Badgers get slaughtered by Oregon. Can only hope Mike connects a quick one and knocks this idiot out cold.

Im hoping to be walking out on ice in the southern half of WI somewhere by mid December. I was last year on some backwaters off the WI River, but no places I had any confidence in catching much.

I would say to look for one that has a name brand motor over one that has a motor you have never heard of

Mine has Briggs on it and I have seen others with Kohler and Honda. Cheaper ones may have a no-name motor

1 nice feature is having a side cradle on it so when you make the 1st split, that half can rest on the cradle rather than on the ground, it makes things go faster and saves on your back

We do a guys weekend ice fishing on Petenwell every year. Every walleye caught, we pass a 1.75 of Hiram Walker Peppermint around for the group (group sizes varies each year but its always at least 4 guys, sometimes up to 8)

There has been years that we didnt finish it, and years it was gone by noon….

I did have the TUCR Bullwhip but preferred the Precision Noodle so I sold the Bullwhip. I wasnt a fan of how fast the transition was from the tip to the backbone on the Bullwhip. The Precision Noodle has a more moderate transition and I feel is better for bigger gills and crappies (just my opinion)
