My lx5 went down before Christmas and I mailed it to Marcum the same day. Got it back 14 days later. So with 6 days in the mail and Christmas thrown in not too bad of a turnaround.
However, they sent it back WITHOUT my power cable and without a transducer stop. No response to the 3 emails sent so far requesting them to contact me to resolve these issues.

Of course I did. They have a lithium charger listed and nothing else. No DCS that I saw.

Have my 998 on a Ram 202 base that has 1.5″ ball. Holds it just fine. You can get a short or long double socket arm. For the 1100 series Birds you definately want the 2.25″ ball system. Go to Amazon.com, search Ram Mounts and you can get and idea of all the options available.

You probably already got a rod but that 6′ 9″ Avid MLXF is a Swiss army knife of a rod. Jigging, top waters for smallmouth, small plastics for smallmouth, drop shot for smallmouth. Heck with walleyes man! Think bass!!! Did I mention smallmouth?

Canada defense really shut USA down. Not many good chances and no sustained pressure.
    Let’s get the bronze

Watching some of the replays and interviews on NBC tonight. An old saying goes “If that doesn’t lite your fire then your wood is wet”. Definitely applies to this game. What a terrific game to watch.
Great win USA. Hope they can stretch it out to bigger things.

Use a basic overhand knot. When done you should have a half inch to one inch loop at end. Smaller loop is better but not critical.

Didn’t mention Death Valley… although that could be a stretch of highway 20 west of Waterloo tonight if you got caught out there.

Work with me here. I am talking about Iowa, Minnesota. Go to the North Pole if you want a comparison to Death Valley.

I am just saying..do you want it cold or do you prefer it hot? This cold stuff causes you to live differently. Geez

“Extreme heat isn’t anything to mess with either.”

No it is not, but talking about a desert is not comparable because we don’t live in one even though we do get those 100 plus days on occasion. Whereas it is winter for months and months…and this below average crap gets old.

-is wind chill less painful as heat index?
-should I turn my remote starter in my truck on to get the air conditioner going?

With that type of outboard it may be kind of tricky. But I would put it on that shield that is above your intake. Towards (closer to) the boat itself so that the intake does not obstruct the signal. Side image sends out a thin line in both directions and anything that blocks that will cause problems. Mounted there it will be protected from obsticles by the bottom of the boat. Plus, no holes in your boat.

Haven’t been there for awhile (crappie boom) but…There are baitshops right at the lake to get minnows. They will know what to give you I’m sure. Same with jigs/spoons.
Main thing to get your head around is that the lake is big. I mean real big. Take what you think as big and multiply it by several times. You will likely drive out several miles from shore to where you fish. Be prepared for cold and wind. Take a shovel and plenty of propane. The place can be nasty and unforgiving weather wise so you have to be ready for that.

Yes it is very stagnant Pug. The economy is expected to grow by 1.5% to 2% over the next decade. Maybe. Well below average of 3% to 5% in a typical decade. Well below average of 6% to 8% when we emerge from a recession as we did in 2009.

The tax on the rich enacted Jan 1 will shave another .5% or so off economic growth in the next year. So maybe, just maybe, this economy will grow at 1% a year for awhile.

Have you asked yourself why that is the case Pug? Or are you the typical uniformed voter I mentioned? Are you in for the “fundamental transformation of America”? Hope not and don’t think so.

George W Bush fault? Give me, and everyone else, a @!#&%^$# break. The guy you voted for now owns this economy and everything about it going foward.

Look closely, very closely, at the trajectory of our national debt the last 4 years. Looks like a hockey stick. 10 trillion to 16.3 trillion, just like that. On our way to about 20 trillion in next 3 years. 100% plus of GDP.
The “fundamental change to the United States of America” we were promised is happening right before our eyes.
One day my grandson is going to look me in the eye ask Grandpa, how did you let this happen? What were you people thinking?
The good news? At some point the bond market will say enough. You (gov) cannot borrow at these low rates. It will say that my clients (lenders) need more interest to justify the risk of lending money to you (gov). Happened in Greece overnight.
The debt super cycle is just about coming to an end. The bond market will put an end to it if they can. If they can’t the end will come very quickly with a loss of confidence, as confidence is the very thin thread that holds this thing all together. I am in the financial business and confidence is everything.
What to do? Make absolute sure you are out of debt yourself. Own some hard assets, gold silver. Have protection. Have some cash on hand. Have some food stored up. BECOME AN INFORMED VOTER. We still have a little time to turn this around but it will take political leadership. That may mean forgetting about your party, union affiliation, how your mom/dad voted or if you are liberal or conservative.
    Gosh, this post is depressing.

Yea, have about a foot of the white stuff for you here. It is the extremely heavy wet type too. Blowing driveway out took 3 times as long as normal due to the weight of it.

I have used it for last 8 years as part of my business-mainly documenting conversations with client, doing recommendation letters to clients, etc. I think it is well worth the money and wouldn’t be without it although sometimes it is a love hate thing-I love it and it hates me. Usually it gets hung up on some of the technical terms I use for my business but you can train it to recognize those words if they aren’t part of the regular word vocabulary it comes with (which is quite extensive).
For doing basic papers I think it would be great. Spend as much time training it (at set up) as you can and don’t forget to train it as you go, especially if it keeps making the same mistakes. That and managing the vocabulary, adding words and taking words out, seems to be the key.

If you have a main panel or circuit breakers near the dash you can tie into one of those sets of power leads coming off of there. Otherwise you will have to run some wire to reach all the way to the rear to the battery.

Year 2000 Ranger 185 so I’m sure there is a set of leads under the dash. Will crawl under there and check it out. Duh on my part.

St Croix Mojo Crankbait MM74 is a fantastic rod if you can get one. Hard to get but well worth the wait if you do.

4 to 6 feet? So do you have to buy an extension if going from console of an 18.5 ft boat to the battery in back?

What really ticks me off is that both the NFL and NBC were quick to rush out and apologize for what happened. They said their delay was not long enough to catch it. Like it is their fault??? Huh? Has anyone considered having the performer, the one who did it in the first place, apologize?
Will that person even take responsibility for her actions? Very likely not. Especially if you know the history of this particular “lady”.

Update-met with Dr Patrick McKeever today. Our dog was diagnosed with Sarcoptic Mange aka Scabies. This is a skin condition in canines including fox, coyotes, that is caused by a type of mite. The animal can come into contact with the mites a variety of ways including animal to animal contact or contact with infested fur of say a mouse from cotote dropping.

Mites tunnel into skin and lay eggs that hatch into larvae. Leads to obvious problems of fur loss, skin irritation, inflamation and other nasties. Treatment is a series of 3 injections over a four week span. First was today.

Can’t say enough good things about Dr McKeever. If your pet has skin problems he is the one to see. Thanks again for the lead to him.

It is micro SD. Has Garmin (dated Sept 2011)on it but, at end of day, it will be Lakemaster I believe. When I got the Iowa/Illinios chip it said Lakemaster on it.

That depth is “awkward” on any flasher. As said above go to 40 ft then zoom zoom zoom. The stength of the LX-5 is the zoom. If you are fishing an uneven bottom at that 18-20 ft depth zoom and then put on NBT (narrow beam transducer). I had that this weekend in some rocks. First rock (first return) at 17′, bottom one at 21′. I could still follow my spoon in that dead zone with NBT on. It was a shaddow (quiver in the red) on the screen but I could see it.

I have scheduled a meeting Wednesday with Dr Patrick McKeever in Eden Prairie. He has a strong looking resume for animal allergies. Thanks a million for the recommendation. I hope he can help but am expecting no miracles as the article mentioned above draws upon the long term nature and fixes to these problems. Maybe he can get us started down the path towards dealing with this stuff.

It is a 4 hour drive one way but that gives me some time to work on New Years resolutions, do some mental pushups and continue to think of additional improvements to my new Jason Mitchell Elite Clam one man tent.

Finhunter-thanks for a great article. So much of it sounds familiar given the treatments we have tried. The steriod thing scares me and I know can lead to long term problems. I want to get her away from those asap. We have long done the diet thing. No wheat, etc.

barc and Briley-thanks for the leads. I will follow up with them today. The U of M thing sounds interesting. My vet has discussed Iowa State Vet Clinic but acts like that is a last resort option.

I’m not trashing my vet. He is a kind and caring man who gives 100% to his clients but even he admits he is at his wits end with her and it is time to get some other assistance.
