Thanks for the great comments guys.. I plan on getting back out there tomorrow afternoon. With any luck the deer will be moving. Last time I was in the stand, not a single deer came by.. I didn’t even hear one.

I’ll certainly let you all know if I see this guy again or we take him.. cheers!

Thanks for the input all.. I appreciate it. I didn’t realize that the bow range was about 10#, and have had more than one suggestion on maybe changing the limbs. I might see if I can’t sell the one I have and then pick on up that has 50-60# range and set it close to 60, say 58#. That’s a 10# difference and should be easier for me to handle.

Thanks again guys I appreciate it. I’m looking forward to a new season!

sorry! i guess i just don’t see the yelling emotion with caps. is that why everyone is soooo rude?

    Hey norseman,
I thought your first responce was appropriate and well thought out.. it showed how much you care for this sport and how much you put in to it.. so I wanted to thank you for that repsonce and for not lashing back… a human reaction usually…

Caps lock in the “computer” age is comonly known as a means of yelling, so as was stated previously it can be misunderstood. I think you can understand that… ..

I hope this young hunter continues to go after it.. I am new to this sport of achery and hunting deer. I’m going out Sunday for my first try.. so be it 14 or 47.. I think the first deer will be the scariest… and if successful one that will always be remembered. I hope that he gets his deer.. and can’t wait to hear the story and see the pics.. Good luck young man!..

Hehehe…well that’s debatable.. .. well confirmed my outing for this coming Sunday.. going out with a couple other experienced hunters.. so should be fun.. I also went out today and shot my bow again…dead on balls accurate… gonna smack one I hope.. LOL.. thanks for the encouragement guys.. I’ll post a report and pics…

Man you guys are awesome!!!… .. I have been reading your replies and can’t thank you all enough for the input. One thing I know I need to do right away is turn the knock so that the white vain is down. I’m sure my vains are hitting the arrow rest with I release it. I’ve only shot these new ones a for a few days and the vaines are already getting beat up.

I have a friend that owns a shop here in Iowa and plan on meeting with him on Sunday and see if we can’t get this tuned in. I’ll post pics of the new shots when i get it done and let you know how it goes.. Thanks again for all your help.. Now…anyone wanna help put me on a deer??..LOL..

Yeah..I kinda noticed that too..I’m thinking I’ll have to go out and buy some new veins… I’m also going to turn the nock in the arrow so that the white vein is down.. I’ve probably hosed up my sites since trying to adjust.. I’ve got a friend that can help though…thanks for the input all!…

Well went out today and shot at 20 yards… wow were my sights off!…I didn’t make any changes to them, I’m thinking there is something else going on with the bow and the arrows that I’m gonna needs hands on help with. I’ll uploade some pics of how I nock an arrow and the arrow rest. Maybe there is something there you experienced shooters can see. I sure was frustrated.. 10 yard shots weren’t too bad, but the 20 yarders…UGH!!.. The arrow rest came with the bow, the arrows had the vanes already on them as is when i bought them. Thanks for your input all..

    Hey gang!!

Well made some adjustments and wanted to post the results here for you all to take a look at. I was kinda fatigued by the time I got em dialed in, but not a bad grouping at any rate. Didn’t make any adjustments to the 20 yard pin again cuz I was plum tuckered.. LOL.. I’ll try that tomorrow. I’m going to take three shots at 10 yards as soon as I start tomorrow, make sure I’m still good, then adjust for 20. Thanks all for your help!

Thanks for the input fella’s… .. I was gonna leave them as is, but based on what I’ve seen the last two times out, I will go ahead and make that move. I’ll start off with one shot and then adjust from there…I’ll take pics and post them for you all to see how I get em adjusted in.. thanks again!!..

I was at Walmart last night and they had a whole kit for $20. Laundry soap, spray, hair soap, body soap…etc etc.. looks like a pretty good deal for what you get…

Newby hunter here, bow hunting as a matter of fact… .. I wanted to say hello and think this is a great deal and a great opportunity. I’ve sent out an email and PM, might be too late for me to get in the drawing, but what a great deal.

I am sure that this site is everything as much as IDO Fishing. I’m an avid fisherman, and I’m really looking forward to getting into hunting..

Howdy all… … new guy here and trying my hand at bowhunting…I was updating my profile and loaded a pic for my avatar of me and my son…Can’t seem to get it to show up.. any suggestions or help would be appreciated..

Avatar pictures must 80×80 max pixels or smaller and we only accept .gif, .jpg or .png. You must also have $1.00 worth of fish bucks in your account (you accumulate fish bucks by posting, the more you post the more you earn). You had only $.06 so that’s probably the reason you could not load your picture. I added $1.00 worth of fish bucks into your account so please try it again. If you are still having trouble, email your picture to me and I’ll take care of you.

Thanks for your help and the complimentary fish bucks!!.. … I will check the size of my av and try again..

Thanks for the info guys!!… I have picked up a bow, reasonably priced. I also just picked up some camo gear from Wally world..LOL.. .. I’ll have to get it washed up to get rid of the scent, but have had quite a few suggestions on how to do that. Not gonna spend a ton of money.. need some arrows which I’ll probably pick up Sunday. Next will be practicing…ALOT!!.. Thanks for suggestions all… I certainly know that I’m livin in deer country…LOL… Thanks again

    Dean,
Do you think the MM would be a good fit for #5 and #7 shad raps or do you think the MHM would also be able to handle these cranks as well?

I typically run #9 tail dancers, #8 shad raps and #9 minnow raps but do ocassionally go smaller too.

I have used Vanish Transition in the past but have been using P-line for about a year now. The line worked but I believe I had more break offs with it compared to XL. I also never noticed a big difference in the amount of fish I caught compared to other people in the boat using XL.
