Ill be up there March 14th-18th tagging along with some local Winnipeg guys! It will be my 3rd straight trip in 3 years, I can’t wait!
The black reign will be hard to beat no matter what. But I was also interested in the frost bite rods. They are made by a very good rod maker so I’m assuming that they are nice
Are the Frostbite rods made by Thorne Bros?
Wondering if someone had a 30-32 inch Precision Rod they were looking to part with. Pm me details and price Thanks. Live in St.cloud.
You in the market for a TUCR Commander? I have a 36 in for sale.
Thanks!
Wow that is a tank! on a side note as far as taxidermy goes is that all you need?
The rest of the hide is underneath the head area. It was caped out
I can’t seem to find it on the Scheels site. Are there additional photos or details available anywhere yet?
Here is a link to the rod case on the their website.
I started with a Jiffy Pro4 propane but had trouble getting it started when it was really cold out so I got rid of it. From there I went to the ION X which I did really like but it was horrible in dirty ice, would go threw a few sets of blades a season. Finally, I went with the Honda 4 stroke Strikemaster. I have been extremely happy with this auger and don’t see myself changing anytime soon.
I had the same thing with mine, I purchased the ice bundle. I talked to a rep at garmin and was told to bring it back to the store and get a different one. Something was wrong with the transducer is what I was told.
How did you end up liking the Panoptix? How is compared to the Helix or LX7? Thanks!
Coming from the Helix 7 to the Panoptix… the Panoptix is heads above anything I have ever used. It is amazing. I think it was worth every penny. Excited to use it on Winnipeg next weekend!
So recently i’ve been thinking of pulling the trigger on a TUCR.
I am looking at a 32″ Power Precision for fishing 1/8th spoons and size 3 Utra light rippin’s raps, or else size 5 Rippin’ raps.
I am intrigued by the EVA handles TUCR has to offer.
If memory serves me right, EVA is like a poly material, and is lighter than cork.
Anybody have an EVA handle from TUCR, and if so what are your opinions on it?One concern I have is warping with such a seemingly soft material. I plan on using reel tape, and no castration bands.
Feedback will be appreciated
I would go with the precision if using the #3 rippin raps
Well I bought one tonight, someone buy my helix! Lol helix 7 G2 with lithium shuttle
Sounds good Thanks!!
Sorry it took so long, here are some pictures. Don’t mind the tape, that is they way I keep the wires down in the back.
You are able to use the risers that came with the Helix 7 if you have the ice pack. I purchased the ice version so I’m not sure what all comes with the open water version. It was very simple to mount it. Ill take some up close pictures and post them
Here is mine, no additional drilling into the unit was needed.
So what batteries are you guys running for these. I switched to the Helix 7 G2 last year and ended up using a large battery to make it all day. Has anyone ran a lithium battery on a helix with better results?
I am running mine on the lithium shuttle, fished for over 8 hours yesterday and still had 50% battery life left. I am running the Helix 7 G2 also.

Has anyone had their shuttle on the ice yet? I charged mine until it showed 100%. I have a helix 7 mounted on it and had nothing else plugged into it or didn’t use the led light. After 4 hours of use, the battery life was down to 36%. Really disappointed in the battery life, that was the main reason I purchased it. Marcum will be getting a call tomorrow.Hi Craig,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
A couple recommendations if I may to help you diagnose this issue before you call customer service.
First, what is the amp draw of your Helix 7 as you have it set up on the shuttle right now? Make sure you test the amp draw using the same screen brightness settings you used when you were ice fishing.
Second, I would recommend doing a test run to see how much actual run time you get with your Helix 7 on the lithium shuttle. Having a battery gauge is better than no gauge at all but I would be hesitant to put absolute faith in determining runtime of a battery based on a gauge showing a percentage of power remaining.
My suggestion would be to do a test run with your Helix 7 on a fully charge lithium shuttle and just let it run. You shouldn’t have to check in on it for the first 6 hours plus but after that just give it a look every half hour to see how long it will actually run on the shuttle versus making a determination based on that gauge.
Settings on your Helix 7 will also have a huge impact on the amount of run time you can expect. I run somewhere between 35 and 50% screen brightness on my lx7. If I Max the screen brightness to 100% I see an almost four tenths of an amp draw increase which of course will greatly reduce run time.
Running my lx7 at 50% screen brightness on the lithium shuttle I had 3/4 of power remaining on the battery gauge when I fished sunrise to sunset last week.
I looked around online to see if I could find some information on what the amp draw is for your Helix 7 and couldn’t find anything. That said, the best course of action is going to be to test the amp draw of your unit as you run it using a multimeter. Once you have the amp draw information you’ll be able to have a very informed conversation with MarCum customer service.
For reference the battery inside the lithium shuttle is a 12-volt 12 amp battery.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family also!
Thank you for the response, I will mess with the screen brightness, that should help. When I power up the shuttle, the battery drops 10% right off the bat, just seems odd to me. I’ll let it run and see how long it will go. Thanks!

I used the big spacers that came with the helix, that was the only way I was able to get it to work

I see you are using a new marcum shuttle. How did you mount the recon to the shuttle?
Thanks
I used this https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/catch-cover-pro-snake-rod-holder-c-clamp?a=1548583 to mount it.
It screws right into the back of the camera and clamps onto the handle of the shuttle.
Sure! I used this mount, it screws into the back of the recon camera.

Here are a few pictures. I mounted it to the handle of the lithium shuttle.
Hope this helps!
I got my shuttle in and mounted the Helix 7 G2 to in and mounted the Marcum Recon. Can’t wait for the hard water! Looking like I will be able to walk on in the next few weeks!
I get my TUCR’s with whatever the standard colors are for whatever model I’m getting. I always order directly through TUCR. I don’t mind waiting for it in the fall (can’t use it yet anyways and it’s a nice surprise when I get the shipping notice). Actually, I’m waiting on my second 30” PN right now (placed my order on Sep. 8) that matches my other PN and my Bullwhip needed another friend I like to order things direct if I can. Less hands for the product to go through and it makes me feel like I’m supporting the business better.
I think the Inferno line was a great decision by TUCR. It helps put their name out for people that aren’t comfortable spending the cash on custom rods but can get premium quality for a production rod. Production rods of other brands are already reaching $50-$70 and personally, based on my experience with TUCR, I’d take an Inferno over any of them. I honestly don’t see how everyone is confused with the “custom” aspect. Maybe if “Custom” wasn’t part of TUCR’s business name their wouldn’t be as much confusion. From my point of view, The Inferno’s are basic application rods meant to cover most general needs with quality components (mass produced over sea’s) and the custom’s are for people who want a specific rod for specific applications (made to order in-house). I think in the long run, this could prove to be a very smart move for TUCR. It will also bring more attention to their custom lines. Their demographic audience is growing and this a good way to appeal to that growth. Imagine if other mass producing companies offered a “made to order” custom line that only cost ~$100. I dont think TUCR would be the company it is now if they would have tried to jump straight into the production market.
As a sportsmen and an aspiring entrepreneur, I wish TUCR the best of luck with their new endeavor!
This ^^^ says it all! I am in the same boat, I could care less about the colors of the rods, the action of their rods are amazing! I use the precision on almost everything and the Commander for my annual Lake Winnipeg trips, amazing rods! I will be getting a 32 in Inferno, for the price point you can’t beat it!
I have a few I can share
Thanks! Can’t wait for the ice to get here!
Can you possibly post a picture of the back? I just ordered a shuttle that I am going to put my helix 7 on and also have the recon camera that I want to place on the shuttle. Thanks!

Beginning of the end?…No that is not is at all. There is a great market for custom rods built here. But there is also other fisherman that are looking for a rod that is a great value and offers up a high level of performance.
Over the years people have been ask more and more for this than anything else.
Why the cheaper price tag? What was used differently than your other ice rods?
Im heading up this Friday, does it pay to bring a 4-wheeler up there or am I able to drive my truck around?
Thanks!
