    Question,
I have limited experience hunting public land. Are there certain public land places you can use game/trail cameras and ones that you cant?

    Thanks!

I finally got my kill tag this year. Been putting in for the last 5 years and got one. Will be hunting up in the Luck, WI area.

    Good luck!

    Alex,

I have a Franchi Affinity 20 gauge that my son used before I upgraded him to a 12ga. Now my 11 yr old daughter uses and I would highly recommend. Price competitive and cycles extremely well. Also super easy to clean.

    Rest in piece Kendall.
Over the last 3-4 years working with you, eating lunch together, and occasionally fishing together have been special times we shared. It was an honor to call you my friend. Thank you for spending time with me and my son sharing your passion of fishing.
    You are sadly missed.

My son Zach is 14. He harvested this nice 8 pointer a few weeks ago with his bow. 1st bow buck for him.

Thanks for the update Grouse. Kendall is a great guy! I was at his house 2 weeks ago talking to him about his recovery and things looked bright.

I am very sad as well and am praying for him to get better soon.

I was there on a VRBO a few weeks ago. Bass were still on beds. Walleye are in the lake. Midlake humps were just starting to see walleye. They are transitioning.
Look for areas with rock and sand for smallmouth.

Here are a few pics from my trip.

I would reccomend going to the Alexandria area lakes and calling up Joe Scegura. He is a great guide and will put you on fish.

Stick with a 20 ga as mentioned above. Like I said, my son has killed countless ducks and pheasants with his Franchi Affinity.
You dont need a 12 ga. That is a matter of preference. A 20 ga 3 inch load will be perfect.

I would highly reccommend a Franchi Affinity youth shotgun. I bought one for my son when he was 8. He has been shooting it until 13 as it comes with adjustable plates to customize the fit. You can also buy a full size stock later if needed. Many options with this shotgun. I plan on having my 10 year old daughter start shooting it as well. The gun shoots very well and recoil is low. My son has taken many ducks and pheasants with this gun.

Looks like a great time! I have fished with Joe as well and cannot agree with you more. He is a great person and fantastic guide.

    Good job on the catch.

Copper is the only way to go in my opinion. I have been using Barnes Vor-TX bullets for many years. They are devastating and put deer down quickly.

My son uses a Browning AB3 in .270 caliber. He shot this buck on opening day this year and it dropped in his tracks at 160 yards.

Does not surprise me at all!!! I live in Eden Prairie and every time!!!! I go to the store they have empty shelves of stuff I want. Not to mention a huge lack of employees helping our customers that actually have any knowledge about fishing.????

I would suggest hiring a guide for a day or 1/2 day to get some idea of current conditions and bite when you are up there.

I recommend Joe Scegura. I have fished with him many times and is a great guide and will point you in the right direction.

    Here is his website. http://jsguideservice.com/

I love my browning Citori, but if I was buying a new one, I would seriously look at the Browning Cynergy Feather. For a few more dollars it is worth the weight reduction when going on long hunts.
