Big boats and the river. Even for a tin boat I’d run a 36V system for anything over 17’.

My Reata is 18’9” and the 36V system won’t move the boat upstream in heavy current. Wish I had a kicker.

Makes total sense. Im still tinkering with that crestliner I picked up from johns buddy. Just have to swap electronics and she’s ready for water. I was debating on going 36v for the river but I have that brand new terrova and lithium batteries so I’ll probably see how they do for me. Obviously I’m no where near as heavy as your rig.

Trained my kids at the age of two that the proper thing to say after ripping a fart is always “excuse you, mom”

    I would never rip a deuce on a plane. I don’t think I could.

Again I’ve only been on 1 plane in my life and it was first class to Vegas. I never even seen what the restroom looked like. But when I gotta go, I gotta go. I’ve taken many woods poops both hunting and fishing, I only have porta potties on job sites and I can do my duty just about anywhere with no shame

My most embarrassing moment came on my last flight to Denver. My 8 year old just took off his head phones and said fairly loud eww dad did you fart? It was loud enough that I could see at least 4 rows in front of me were laughing. He then waits 30 seconds and whispers in my ear. Dad it was me that farted.

That sounds like my kid to a T. When he was young we were at Walmart and this couple was shopping in front of us, both in mobility carts and both probably 400 plus pounds the baskets they had were loaded with junk food. And my kid says hey dad why are those people so big. He said this loudly, and we were 5 feet from them. I put my head down and walked to the next aisle. I explained to him that was very rude, but also I told him to look in the carts they had, mtn dews, candy and, chips and frozen food. He still doesn’t drink but maybe 1 pop a month lol and doesn’t eat candy

Ok, since we’re talking planes and things we hate about flights, how many people use the restroom to go number 2 on a flight? Be honest…

I’ll take a deuce where ever I have to take a deuce, in side out side next to a tree, in a field, on a plane, I really don’t care.
But that said, I’ve only been on 1 plane in my entire life and I didn’t have to take a deuce that day.

Seems everywhere right now is $299 for the bibs and $299 for the jacket . Prices must of gone up from last year like everything else

Still well worth it. I wouldn’t pay full price but the sale is great.

It’s probably 100 yards from the house. We have an awkward patch of an old hay field sandwiched in by the driveway and the woodline that is more than I want to mow regularly (probably an acre that’d add to mowing) and is too small to be worth the time to run hay on it. I think the wife is going with a few trees in the area and then I will get the task of tilling it up for her to try and plant as many wildflower seeds as possible. I too stressed that willows can be messy and they weren’t going somewhere close to the house with landscaping that I regularly mow.
    [/quote]

I do love the look of the willow trees, a couple of my favorite pictures we have were under the willows but man I needed a much bigger mower to mulch through those things when they drop both the branches if that’s what they are called and the leaves. They did make a good switch when the kids were not listening lol

Pro fishing prices must have went up, this was my receipt from last year for the apex jacket, bibs, and gloves. 509 shipped.

Perfect! It’s going about 20 yards from the low end of a culvert that drains one field’s runoff under the driveway.

We had 2 giant willows in my old yard, absolutely beautiful trees. More of a pain in the ass then any of the giant oaks we had. They make such a mess. The juice was not near worth the squeeze

I could use some advice on the deer protection. I’ve probably wasted over $500 on trees that deer have destroyed. Kinda gave up. But… we had to take down several large oaks near the house recently so this spring I HAVE to plant some trees. Thinking a mix of maple and pine.

Lightly spray some Tabasco sauce on the low hanging leaves they eat.

I purchased a used kit and the drill and skill saw are questionable at best. I realize they’re used, but after this auger drill failing as well I’m getting a bit Leary of the mighty Milwaukee reputation.

Jump over to the hilti side of the world, and you will never look back. That said, I’ve never had a complaint about any Milwaukee tools we had to use.

    Update on the Milwaukee drill.

I just purchased 2 6.0 high output batteries and took it to the lake today for a test run. It still times out almost anytime I let go of the trigger, whether it’s after 2″ of drilling or 18″ of drilling. If I don’t let off the trigger it never stops. So apparently it’s not the batteries.
    [/quote

Why are you letting off the trigger ?

They’ve been offering to pay for some of these for awhile now they must have like zero seed stock left.

That is exactly what the picture he posted says. OUR SHELVES ARE BARE, WE ARE DOUBLING OUR PRICE PER BUSHELL

Are you talking about the pro fishing supply.com?

Yeah sorry that was supposed to say 599. But I see its for the attack gloves. No idea what those are, but the apex gloves are pretty solid. They do run small tho.

The apex suit is awesome. My climate suit was so bulky, and the apex is no where near that. I have no idea on the challenger suit but I’m sure it’s awesome as well. But I will put a great word towards the apex. You can buy the bibs, jacket and gloves for 550 right now on sale. Same sale I hit last year.

Mine remains the Thorne Bros. 32″ <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Panfish Sweetheart rod custom with baitcasting reel. I do also keep a set up with a spinning reel too.

What kind of bait caster ? You fish the rod upside down like a casting set up ? Or are you talking about a inline reels?

First aid kits are one of those things I take seriously. I have one in all 3 vehicles and 1 I flop between boats. Seen to much happen to not have one. And stuff in them comes in handy way more often then one would think

All your work is beautiful. I love the woods carvings. I really like the owl, one of them would look great on my front steps. If you ever have a owl around for sale I would love to make a offer.

You’d need to drill into your steps and install an anchor. They’d steal that in a nano second.

You are probably right, but knock on wood, I haven’t ever taken the keys out of my vehicles. My wheelers sit under the deck for weeks at a time with the keys in them and I’ve never had a issue with theft at my house. I live in a pretty quiet spot. We have a bronze eagle out side my front door now, and I’m pretty sure that thing wasn’t cheap. It is pretty heavy tho.

not necessarily ice thicknesses, but i’ve seen some reports from leech and winnie accesses are getting to be tricky.

ice thickness isnt an issue at the moment……the landings will be!!!!!

That’s the best time of the season. Long aluminum ramps to get on the ice, pull them out with you so no one can follow and then we usually get lakes to our selves.

With shipping I spent almost 30. Its a lure that is discontinued so it was an E-Bay purchase. Nothing else exactly works like this one, and I will get maybe between 50 -100 fish before a pike finally snips it. I once lost 3 in 20 minutes because I kept casting into an area full of <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>pike and the current in the area had them hitting it sideways and they kept getting their teeth on the line. Would not throw my 30 buck one into that spot!

Next time try a fluoro leader material leader. Not regular fluoro, has to be the leader material, get 12 to 15lbs and you won’t get bit off. I’ve fished the same pike tip up all winter and have caught many pike on the one with 12lbs leader material. It’s impressive how tooth resistant it is.

For a bass lure, probably $50. Thank God you didn’t ask about musky lures.

No kidding. I don’t even hardly musky fish yet the kid and I have multiple lures kissing that 100 to 130 dollar mark.
For bass I try and keep it below 20 bucks on average. I bought every clacking rap I could find a few years back and now they are 25 to 30 on ebay

I bet it will be a late ice out into April, lots of ice on the river and the forecast up there isn’t as nice as down here, like usual. We won’t lose much ice when it’s still well below freezing overnight.

sadly she went straight downhill after he passed. Last time I was in there before she passed on she had a handful of methheads in there and it wasn’t the bait shop it used to be.

Bummer, Steve was 1 of 1, and Robbie was always entertaining too. Is it still open? I haven’t been up in a while, but will be next weekend and usually stop in there.

No, the kids want nothing to do with the bait shop. Max and Rosie said no thank you. So it’s shut down now.

I hate the longer rods. 32 to 36 is my favorite, after 36 it gets dumb with any form of wind or hand shakes.
32 is my all around go to, both in and out of the shack. One of my favorite rods this season has been the 32 inch jt panhandler great in and outside.

He was definitely one of a kind genuinely great guy. One year I had just gotten a new boat and there was a crazy detour down there’s crappy gravel back roads. We stopped to get bait from Steve and he came running out, barefoot of course and said you have to wash that thing off! He strung out a hose so I could wash my boat in the parking lot. Another time we stopped to get bait and there was nobody around which seemed kinda odd. As we were walking back to the truck I heard someone yell I’ll be right there. Took me a minute to figure out what was going on but I looked up and he was way up in a tree with a chainsaw wearing nothing but shorts. No shoes, no shirt or anything. All we could do is laugh. He’s missed that’s for sure!

Yup Steve was definitely one of a kind. He was my best buddies uncle. We built the entire motel for him through 2 different fishing trips. Fish all day and work on that all night. He owned 1 pair of actual pants and those were known as his court jeans. Otherwise it was sweats all winter and cut off cargo shorts all summer lol. He was a very smart guy. He could work on anything and everything, it was actually impressive. I offered to buy his suburban when he passed but robbie wouldn’t let it go, and sadly she went straight downhill after he passed. Last time I was in there before she passed on she had a handful of methheads in there and it wasn’t the bait shop it used to be.

Yep that’s the one. That was an awesome year. Probably never had another one like that since. I remember sitting in four mile bay just whacking giants one after another. As far as numbers of big fish that’s the best year I’ve had over there.

Same with me. We caught more big fish that year then probably multiple years combine. I remember landing my first ever 30 and Steve was yelling to me to quick throw her back and land another one. To bad he’s dead now, Steve was a great guy.

I can’t remember exactly what year it was. Must have been like 14-16ish somewhere in there because I had a new boat but that one year we were fishing the lake by late march, might have even been mid march. That was a crazy year. I’m all for the catch and release thing but it was nice to be able to fish the river all day for bigs then run out to the lake to get some dinner fish. That was an epic year. Why is it that you can keep fish in the lake and bring them back as long as you don’t stop on the way in but heaven forbid you keep your 2 fish on the Canadian side and bring them across in the same manner. Minnesota is so messed up.

Was that the year st paddys day was 80 degrees.
If it was we were up cutting a pool out of the international falls high school and Steve from Steve’s lucky bait let me and Charlie come borrow his boat and rods for the 2 weeks. That was a great year.
