Suzuki, I’ve had that late season a few times and if you don’t mind a few bugs, its great hunting. The hens are starting to nest up, and aren’t as active anymore. The gobblers are still ready to go and they gobble up a storm. Had the best responses out of gobblers to my calls in the later seasons. It has always been a blast, but what hunting isn’t…GOOD LUCK

I love my Titan 2000, titanium slate call, that thing just echos and every bird loves it… Got it two years ago and its helped kill 4 birds…I also love the Mystic Stik striker, this striker works in anything rain, snow, even works if you have oil on ur slate..For box call my favorite is the Cherry Bomb, nice raspy tone and nice loud volume….Got WI 2nd season CAN’T WAIT

A few winters ago I put out corn in my backyard… I had about 30 turkeys coming down hens and jakes mostly. One hen in particular cought my eye. She had prolly a 10″ beard it dragged on the ground, plus maybe a 3″er… How old do u figure this bird was and do they usually get this long of beards…This was in city limits so the birds were in a refuge. Is this good genetics or will all birds get like this?

I talked to a buddy of mine from kansas and he told me about a big one taken down there, that was going to be a new state record but would fall short of being world record potential…i dunno if this is the same buck or not though.

Oh yeah, till the season is closed…Did some t-zone hunting this weekend my buddys brother shot a big doe havent seen anything until right at closing time…the second rut cycle is definately going still had a hot doe move into the area the other night and seen 4 bucks within no time, but ill have to save them for bowhunting. the deer are just mauling down our standing corn right now, but they aren’t moving until after dark…so its tough to get a crack at anything…love late season my favorite time of the year.

When you purchase your wisconsin either sex tag you get one bonus antlerless tag with it. You can buy as many antlerless tags as you want, but they are $12 dollars a crack after the first free one. I bowhunt and gunhunt so i have 2 either sex and got 2 antlerless tags…1 with each.

For me bowhunting i always wait for a big buck with my either sex tag, i always fill my antlerless early so i have some meat in the freezer for sure…but during the 9 day gunhunting season its about putting meat in our freezer anyone can shoot a big buck with a gun look at how many people who dont know much or anything can get lucky with a gun… we shoot whatever during the gun for the enjoyment of hunting not for the enjoyment of horns dont get me wrong i love seeing big bucks, but i dont get the same adrenaline rush shooting one with a gun as i do taking the challange of getting one with the bow..to sum it up bowhunting is to get big boys gun hunting is to put meat in the freezer doesnt matter what meat, i like to put fawns in though the best especially the real small ones where u can peel the backstraps out with your hands that is the best eating in the entire world to me, but big or little you cant ruin venison…if its big mix a little fawn in make sausage, bologna, or my personal fav. venny hotdogs!!!

The first time i ever saw a big buck was when i was twelve… i somehow managed to see a ton of big bucks that year i still havent seen as many big bucks in a year as that year…well anyways i was hunting our famed “big buck stand” everyone has their favorite stand and i was in it, this stand was a nice funnel area between a field and a big ditch… well it started off good with a doe and two fawns coming out into the field about 60 yards away, the doe started kicking at her fawns trying to kick them away i could tell the rut was kicking in… slowly deer started filtering past, little bucks chasin does, fawns and everything comin past…i was havin a blast trying to get a shot at a 110″ eight pointer that was chasing a doe…all of a sudden all of the commotion stops and all of the deer look in the woods right where i am in my stand…”aww shoot'” i thought, “im busted!” boy was i ever wrong i heard a loud grunt then another about 15 yards away as i slowly turned around i saw approx.. a 150-to maybe low 160 class 10 pt. thick, wide, and high my vision of a perfect typical buck he was a beauty the only problem was the doe he was chasin now did have me busted when i turned to look she bolted into the field and sure enough he followed…i still look at that night as one of my favorites as i got to watch that big boy chasing and he even tended to a doe…i never got a shot at him, but boy it sure was a blast
