That picture is from the Milwaukee paper. They had an article today about the possibility of getting Moss. Good luck with him. Fans will hate him if he plays like he has in Oakland, or they will love him if he performs.

Thought it might be a hoax when it starts showing up all over the place. There are always multiple stories too. One says the dogs are neutered, the one I saw said they were breeders with a great bloodline.
February 19, 2007 at 5:31 pm #538837I saw these labs offered awhile ago, and to my knowledge they had been taken in by someone. They were going to be used as breeders, so they should have a good life ahead of them. It’s weird, because I got this e-mailed to me on Feb. 6th, with the same picture and names. I was told that the labs were free also.
January 23, 2007 at 10:47 pm #526710Thanks for the ideas! I’ll try the epoxy and let you know how it works. Doesn’t sound to expensive, so might as well give it a try.
July 19, 2004 at 4:21 pm #313320Fished for a couple hours again on Sun. evening. Lots of pleasure cruisers out there. Ended up getting 6 largemouth, from 2 to 4 pounds. I did better than I thought I would considering the amount of traffic running around and the waves and wake they were creating. I also ended up catching a walleye on a Tiki Stick from under a dock in about 5 ft of water! I think he was lost.
July 15, 2004 at 5:44 pm #312890Have fished the lake a couple more times without too much luck. A few legals and some small largemouth, but it has been fairly slow fishing the docks. I have fished mostly just for a couple hours in the evenings.
Yesterday, however, I tried to get out of work and to the launch in time for the wed night tournament. I missed the person taking money just barely. I fished anyways from 6:30-9pm and ended up with only 4 largemouth, 2 legals. One 2 pounder and another 4.8lb, and a little over 20″. It was a very nice and fat fish. Talked to some guys after the tournament and they said the winner was a 20 1/8″, so I would have been close.
July 6, 2004 at 7:06 pm #311406The fishing tournament is done on Fri and Sat. In case you didn’t know, the format is different this year. They are having 6 walleye pros and six bass pros. They will be paired up, and the largest stringer of fish will be the winner. Walleyes, smallmouth, and largemouth all count towards the 6 fish limit.
June 23, 2004 at 8:03 pm #309746Yeah, I’m still learning Mendota. I am going to fish it a lot more, there are definately some nice smallmouth and walleyes out there. Just the other day I had a walleye on that went about 8lbs and came off right before I could net it! I used to live in LaX and fish the river all of the time, so it is taking some learning to get used to fishing the lakes around Madison compared to the river. That and learning how to manuver around all of the pleasure cruisers here on the weekends.
June 22, 2004 at 8:46 pm #309609Thanks, and wow, talk about service, I just asked for it like 15min ago!
June 14, 2004 at 10:13 pm #308633Has anybody used a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses? Just wondering if someone could compare them to Costas or not.
December 31, 2003 at 4:21 pm #287006It seems to me that your saying that the only fisherman that have any affect on the trout population of a stream are baitfisherman (I know your not saying this though). Baitfisherman are the only ones that kill trout or keep them. Baitfisherman are the only ones that would “rip” the hook out of a trout. Not someone fishing with an expensive lure or fly though. Creel and electro-shocking data won’t tell what affect baitfisherman have on a stream, it will tell you how fisherman, nature, pollution, and other influences have on the stream. There are so many variables to consider when looking at the population and size of the trout.
I agree about having different regulations for different waters based on data and what certain streams can handle. I just don’t think that all baitfisherman should be grouped as trout killers or bad for a stream. A few “bad apples” can make a whole group look bad. You are right about maybe looking at the practices of baitfisherman (barbless hooks and cutting line on deeply hooked fish). Don’t think that I don’t support creating new regulations that could help the size, numbers, or health of a population. I hardly ever fish bait, so the new regulations won’t bother me. I was just making an argument for the people that do. Hope the winter season is a good one for you and that the new regulations work out.December 30, 2003 at 6:45 pm #286886Should we be fair and have some streams for baitfisherman only, to really look at how it affects a stream? And since no two streams are alike, how does having a stream as artificial only tell us anything because there are a ton of outside influences on a stream besides fisherman. I know that you can determine in general that artificial only will harm less fish, but I have heard people say that the winter season is a “catch and kill” because trout don’t handle stress that well. I don’t necessarily believe that, but a lot of people have different views. A person needs to look at things from both sides before determining what is the right thing to do. I would just be worried that making it illegal to use bait on some streams is only the beggining. What next? Will it be changed that flyfishing only will be allowed and no spinfisherman? If we limit to who can fish a stream and how they do it we are walking a fine line. Just because someone does something in a different way does not make it the wrong way.
December 29, 2003 at 4:09 pm #286742I don’t believe that he said he was “yanking” the hook out of the fish. How can you rip on a bait fisherman about deep hooking a trout when you foul hook them all of the time? I’m sure that a foul hooked trout doesn’t always live, just as some fish deep hooked don’t always live. I am just wondering what you have against bait fisherman? I am not trying to start something, it just seems that you are very hard on baitfisherman. I hardly ever use live bait, but respect the fact that others can and do.
December 3, 2003 at 2:32 pm #283789The south branch is fished for trout mostly. I have had good luck on the north branch for smallmouth and walleyes. I like fishing the river after the two branches meet for smallmouth and walleye also. Right now the river is low and clear, so your best bet is to try to find some deeper water. I fished quite a few spots until I found something that I liked. When you find the right spot, they can really be stacked up. Good luck and let me know how you do if you try it. I only get to fish the river a few times a year now since I moved to WI. Oh, and I didn’t get pictures of the fish because I was by myself. I just weighed them quick, admired there color, and released them.
December 1, 2003 at 8:30 pm #283580Well, I didn’t catch a lot, but I did hook into a couple of dandy walleyes on Sat. morning (5.8 and 6.5lbs). It was cold but fun. Both caught on plastics. Ended up catching a few browns also. Seems like you catch them everywhere on the root in the fall, even when I’m fishing plastics for walleyes. Didn’t see another person fishing. Does anyone else try in the fall? I had fished the root about 3 weeks ago and did really well. Caught about 40 walleyes and sauger in two mornings with one 7.8 pound pig. I am surprised by the size of some that I have been catching. Anyways, post how you’ve been doing if anyone has been out. Good luck!
PS All the walleyes were released so they are still out there to be caught again!
April 11, 2003 at 7:32 pm #263875I was fishing the weekend of that tournament. We saw were some of the guys were at, and saw where the winning catch came from. The last day, we went to the weigh in and they played highlights of the tournament. It was pretty neat to see where and what the pro’s were doing in places that you have fished a lot.
March 24, 2003 at 9:01 pm #255333Have been out to Black Earth 2 more times. 3/17 the bite was tough, but did manage three trout for the evening. Nicest was a fat 18″ brown. Other two were around 14″ and 12″. All were caught on small crankbaits at the head of deeper pools. On the evening of 3/23, caught 5 browns. Largest was a nice 16″, and others ran from 11″ to 15″. These were caught on small jigs and plastics. I had started fishing with the small jigs last year with success, and it seems to be working again this year. The trout haven’t been real active yet, but have seen a few rises the last time out. Hopefully will get out again tonight.
October 16, 2002 at 2:27 pm #246979Ended up fishing early Sat. morning for a couple hours between Whalan and Peterson. Caught 2 walleyes, a nice 17″sauger, a smallmouth, and 3 browns from 15″ to 17″. Caught fish on a couple of different jig and plastic combos and on a small yozuri crankbait. Also had a walleye on that went about 4 lbs, but it popped off next to shore. On Sun., only went out for an hour, and had three nice bites. Missed two of them and caught a smallmouth. Was a little cold in the mornings, but all in all was nice to be on the river again. Seems that the walleyes and sauger are in any deeper water that they can find. Also, it seems that no matter what I’m fishing with, I end up hooking into a few browns unintentionally. Good luck to everyone, and keep me posted on how the bite on the river is going.
October 9, 2002 at 7:24 pm #246861Just wondering how the bite on the root is going. I might be able to get out either on Sat. or Sun. morning hopefully. I’ll be visiting MN for a wedding, so I want to get some fishing in on one of the mornings. I’ll probably try for some walleyes and sauger, and I’ll report how I did. Thanks for any info.
September 23, 2002 at 9:38 pm #246381I was visiting my parents, and got out to fish the Root on the 21st. It was drizzling off and on, but was generally a nice day to be on the water. I caught 6 walleyes, 2 sauger, 3 smallmouth, and 3 nice brown trout. Was a fun day to be out. Wish I could have been out longer, but I had plans so I was off the water by 2pm. I also went out for a brief time Sun. before the vikes game and caught 3 more walleyes. Between the two days, the walleyes and sauger weren’t real big, but fun to catch, the bass were pretty small, and the browns went 15″, 16″, and a nice 17.5″. Lost a couple of nicer walleyes that popped off. I was surprised that I never got any decent smallmouth, but it sure was fun to fish the root again. Good luck to everyone.
August 20, 2002 at 8:27 pm #245561I’ve seen a musky caught out of pool 8 also. It wasn’t very big, but I know that it was a musky.
May 23, 2002 at 5:08 pm #243506Was out trout fishing on Mon. and Sun. evenings near the Madison area. I went to Black Earth Creek and fished with jigs. I hadn’t done much fishing with them, but they seem to work very well. I caught 10 rainbows and 4 browns on Sun evening, and 7 rainbows, 2 browns, and a brookie on Mon. evening. Most were caught on little craw jigs, and some on smaller tubes. The fish ranged in size from 9-16″. It was a couple of nice nights of fishing trying something new. I might have to try to get a-hold of some of the super bow spinners to try. It sounds like they work great. Also, good luck on the smallies on the Root River. Caught some really nice bass out of there last fall. Good luck to you.
May 20, 2002 at 9:14 pm #243291I agree with primitive man. The reason that I look at this site is that it isn’t full of garbage and bickering, but has a lot of good information. I also look at another fishing site, and many times it is so full of people fighting over stupid things that you can hardly find any good info on it. Lets stay on track, post quality and useful information and opinions, and have fun fishing.
May 17, 2002 at 7:23 pm #243099Pool 8 is a great spot for bass. It seems that if you want smallies, go near rock and rip-rap. If you want largemouth, go in backwaters. And sometimes, you’ll find both in the same spots. Great pool to fish, and I really miss being able to get out on the pool a couple times a week. If you fish docks, I recomend using spinning gear and skipping baits under the low docks. Make sure that you have a good lure to skip, because there is deffinatley an advantage to being able to skip way under a dock. Either that or you can flip the edges and corners of the docks with baitcasting gear. Good luck to everyone, and catch a couple pool 8 smallies for me!
May 14, 2002 at 6:53 pm #242921Thanks for the tips guys. I have tried Crystal Lake, which has good numbers of largemouths, but not much size that I’ve seen yet. Also tried below the Sauk dam for walleyes earlier this year before the river went way up and did ok. Just have to get out there and find new spots on these lakes. Am going to fish in a wed. night bass tournament on Waubesa this week, so we’ll see how that goes. Keep making reports on how the fishing is down in La Crosse, because it’s always nice to hear how it’s going where you used to fish. Good luck to you.
May 13, 2002 at 8:46 pm #242879Had ahold of the big smallie on a watermelon senko. Sounds like you’ve been hitting pretty good. They sure are fat right now! Real fun to catch. All the largemouth I caught were small also, and could only get smallies of any size. I caught many of the fish on a brown tube with chartuese tail, but they seemed to be mostly smaller ones. Caught the larger fish on senkos and flukes fished really slow. I really miss fishing the river more often, I just have to get used to the lakes here in Madison. Good luck to you.
