December 23, 2011 at 2:33 pm #1020792If you just bought it,take it back for an exchange. Cabelas does it. Great place to shop.
December 16, 2011 at 2:09 pm #1018260The only good thing about this weather is the furnace does not run much. Jerry
December 10, 2011 at 11:57 am #1016462I have had my BD for over 25 years and have never had a problem with them .They don’t owe me a thing.Bought them both for $18.99. Jerry
November 1, 2011 at 1:20 pm #1005676I think personaly that my spring bobbers work better than all of those that you buy. I take pride in making my own icefishing poles and gear. I do buy lots of some things like reels, line and some lures. But I enjoy using some of the stuff that I make myself, and it works better than what you can buy. I go to a place that sells broken fish poles, and buy rod blanks for near to nothing and make some of the best ice fishing poles you can get. I love the fly rods, they make GREAT icefishing poles. O buy I have won numerous icefisheries and derbys. I am not just blowing smoke. Jerry
October 31, 2011 at 1:29 pm #1005376If your auger tells of a 40 to 1 use 40 to 1 you can use a 100 to 1 but I will lay money that your auger will not last as long. Ams is the best oil you can buy BUT do what your owners manual tells and you will not have a problem. I use 2 of the packets to a gallon and it works fine. That is a 50 to 1 A little lean of a mix but nothing like 100 to one,and it runs fine, and hardly smokes at all. Jerry
October 27, 2010 at 4:28 pm #906561It is a great place to shop for ice gear, but you have to get what you want early because a lot of stuff does not get reordered. So if you see something you need- want buy it when you see it. Past experience.
October 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm #905087Watch out, next year you will have to licence your portable.I hate to say it, but just another way to get in to our pocket. It will happen!!!
September 9, 2010 at 4:06 pm #898322I love the looks of the gillpill, but I am not sure of the size that I will want. I wish that they would picture there sizes along side a dime so I could tell exactly what I want. Them jigs sure look good. Jerry
August 21, 2010 at 5:18 pm #894797Yes it is just a rumor. I have fished in that area a lot all this summer and have not seen a thing. Someone once to make it look and sound bad. The only dead fish that I see were carp or gar and that is no loss. Jerry
June 8, 2010 at 5:16 pm #878254Thanks for all of the posts,it is good to see what other people think about fishing or catching. We all go for a special reason. I think that when we get older our minds change a lot on how we look at what we do. The last time I took my Dad fishing before he died He had caught the bigest walleye that he had ever caught. He let him go. Funny how I never forgot that day, every time I drive past that part of the river I still think of it. Jerry
June 7, 2010 at 12:27 pm #877790I rate my season as a 5+, NO, not that I do that good, just that I get to go.Just remember it isn’t catching it is fishing. I go with friends that like to fish but if they don’t get something it is still a good day. Jerry
May 19, 2010 at 2:44 pm #873051I fish from shore, and it isn’t not all jetskis that are not courteous and it is not all boaters that are. Use a little courtesy and I dont think you will go wrong. Jerry
May 17, 2010 at 3:31 pm #872468Back in the early 60S I caught one of those steel deer tags during deer season. Took it to the ranger station in Wyalusing State park and the owner was notified by the number on the tag. At the time I was 12. Jerry
May 6, 2010 at 3:47 pm #869875I filter all my water here in Bloomington Wi,and we got 5th in the nation for great water, first in the state. I use a whole house filter and a reverse ousmousis on my drinking water .
May 6, 2010 at 3:37 pm #869873About 15 years ago I got 2 over 5 lbs. and about 10 mim. apart.Never done it since. And all my bass are released also.Love to fish, like to hunt. Love to talk fishing.
April 29, 2010 at 3:42 pm #867850I am very sorry to here of your loss. They are so close to your heart. They are not dogs they are dear friends which you will love forever. Jerry
April 25, 2010 at 7:49 pm #866656I have fished near a fella that keeps everything that is legal, and when he is done he tries to give the bass away, and if he can’t he will take them home and through them in the garbage. I took them from him once and let them go,now he won’t give them to me. I think them kids were more right than that [censored] was for destroying them bass.I talked to a ranger and he said that the bass were his and he had a right to do what he wanted to with them.
April 25, 2010 at 7:19 pm #866650I am very sorry to here of your loss. It isn’t just a dog or cat it is part of your heart. I have lost 2 dogs in the last 30 years and I still mis them, and now I have one that is 15years old ,can’t hear but he can see good, and I know that his days are numbered. Enjoy the time you have with them. Jerry
April 24, 2010 at 3:00 pm #866432All my baitcasting reels are lefthand,I never figured out why them pros always were changing hands after each cast when they used a 200 hp motor to get them there faster and then they were losing time changing hands on a reel.
April 16, 2010 at 3:45 pm #864446Packing bearings is no big deal, The main thing to do is replace the wheel seals ,not a big problem,The wheel seal is in the inside of the hub, when you have cleaned and checked your bearings over, and packed, get new wheel seals, this protects from letting water in the hub.Bearing buddies are great but dont over fill with grease, because you will ruin the wheel seals.and they will leak. If you are in dought about the size of wheel seal,it has a number on it,take it to your local parts store and get some, cost is about $3.00 each. It is easy just take your time. When I run my filling station I charged $30.00 to do both sides with the seals, tool me about 1/2 hr.And buy the way,the best time to do this is in the fall when the water will not set in there all winter. Jerry
April 15, 2010 at 3:52 pm #864074I didn’t see is but I heard it, sounded like thunder,I thought it was a truck using his jake brake outside of town.
April 2, 2010 at 4:25 pm #860098Chad,good to see that nice bass. I have icefished right above ths airport this year,I think they call it french island ,and the fishing was allways good,I never got skunked,I am from Bloomington so it is quite a drive to get there but the fishing is a lot better up there than down below the Wisconsin river, every thing is silting up,can’t even get to the river from some of the back slough landings. A lot better fishing In the upper Lacrosse area.I plan to fish up there this spring and summer. Jerry
March 19, 2010 at 2:23 pm #855189I hang it with ropes from the rafters so it sets level.I have done this for over 29 years and it is as good as it was when I bought it. I think that the big thing is to keep it out of the sun. Now my son thinks that we need a new one, that folds out, insted of one that folds up.Hey I have caught a lot of fish in this portable shanty, and it works great.
February 16, 2010 at 5:05 pm #842951I ordered mime yesterday, and yes it is a strikemaster. I was at the fishing derby in Onalaska 2 weeks ago and 2/3 of the people had strikemaster and no one said a bad word about them, except that there gas was bad,and whos fault is that? Also going to the Lions icefishing derby this weekend and hope to use that new strikemaster.
