Karl, depending on the type of fishing you do, the suggestions might change. As always commented by others, go with the largest screen you can afford. Are you looking for one unit, multiple units, linking to trolling motor, etc?
I have been with HB for a long time as I require my electronics including the trolling motor to all be linked together.
In regards to SI, I think the general consensus though is that HB has the best SI currently available.
A really good site to visit for all electronics is http://www.bbcboards.net/forum.php. You can spend days here reading up on the different products.

Thanks for the reply. I fish for Bass and Walleye. It’s obviously very clear to me I can increase success with good electronics. I currently just have an older power drive Minn Kota, which I would like to upgrade next year. At this time I’m looking for one unit knowing that I can always add. I’m also crazy person that will probably end up $10k worth of gear on my 1998 boat the second I find success with increasing my odds.

The Packers look like they should be fighting for the number one pick, but might be the #1 seed in the NFC. Don’t be surprised if they’re in the Super Bowl.

Muck Artic Pros, or Muck Wetland. I will never go back to a traditional boot.

6Ah 20V I believe. It’s honestly shocking how many holes I’ve drilled without having to charge it.

If you’re willing to go away from Milwaukee, I got the dewalt with the flexvolt battery and it lasts in the cold much longer than the Milwaukee batteries.

Evidently it’s tough right now. My dad had a lake plowed so we can get to it this weekend. Bigger lakes that the wind can his I’m guessing will be your best option. Or find someone with a snowmobile.

Ryobi will not work through mid to late season. I bought one last year and returned it. I tried it with my K-drill and it would stall out in a foot of ice.

Muck Arctic Pro boots are the best cold weather boot I’ve owned.

This is great advice. When I moved to MN I decided to conform into ice fishing around the metro style (I miss throwing out tip ups on empty lakes with friends). I would recommend getting a Eskimo 949 hub or something around that size. Much cheaper than a flip over. Make sure you get a good sled. And then a flasher. After that a chisel or hand auger will make due, until you decide to buy an auger. I did exactly this my first year then bought a k-drill year two and have around $1k invested. I’ve upgraded a few things, but still rock my cheap Marcum flasher.

It’s more than likely your charger. Just went through this. Picked a new one up at Fleet Farm and it solved my problems.
