I agree 100%. I’m not putting ION down by any means and I appologize if it sounds like it. When the batteries had power it out-performs any auger I’ve ever had. I’m mainly looking for a way to fix the problem.

ION contacted me first thing this morning and we are working the problem as we speak. Customer service goes a long ways in my book and so far they are at the top in this category also. I will report anything that we find. Thanks everyone

    Ryan,

That will be my first try as i have a buddy that has one. Going to try his charger today to rule out the charger. My guess is its the batteries but who knows. I do know when the auger ran it is amazing. So hopefully can get a fix soon.

I took it in to a small engine repair shop here locally. He said he went through carb and air filter. Cleaned it all out good. It is running good now. I’m guessing its because I laid it the wrong way. Real pain in the ass if you ask me. Strongly considering a electric of some sort and just keep my propane around for late ice or when I go after walleyes so I can utilize the 9 inch hole.

It’s in a heated garage but I will move it inside and see if that helps

How many holes can you get out of a battery with foot of ice?

Yes. Seems kind of odd doesn’t it? It was cold but have cut many holes with it in the extreme cold. Makes me wonder if it was the actual propane its itself.

That would be because he was fishing right beside me. I think he is wanting to move on to the electric. Been then done that. First problem I’ve had with my propane.

Hoping it can be fixed. I’m guessing it’s not the first time it’s happened to someone

James, does anything have to be altered to make the helix fit in the gimbal mount on the shuttle?

Did the best on this with a waxie. They were finicky with everything else we tried but not this spoon. They were nothing to write home about. 7 to 8 inchers but my 7 year old sure had a blast!! Hope to get back out there and find the jumbos

I have used my Helix 7 twice now and have it dialed in. This is one powerful unit. I swapped it for my LX-6 and it has been an amazing graph. I did love my LX-6 but you can’t beat the flasher/graph and GPS all in on unit. It’s the best out there IMHO.

I’ve read a few posts that say to use salt water setting….Anyone try both salt and fresh and see any difference?

I have the Helix 7 G2N that I took off the boat and am patiently awaiting good ice in this part of the country. One question I’ve seen thrown out is do you switch it to ICE mode on the unit or just keep it set up just like I have it in the boat. Anyone played with both settings? I guess I’m not even sure how to switch it to ICE mode. Haven’t played around with that part of it yet.

The Resort has been purchased. Will be here in a week. I have 3 boys to try and fit inside this beast and a 5 month old girl that at some point I’m hoping will enjoy ice fishing. From the dimensions its sure looks likes that shouldn’t be a problem. Will keep you all posted on the Pros and Cons once it arrives.

    nu98walleye,

How were the zippers. That was the one downfall I had read in the previous year models. Sounds like some had defective zipper columns and were misaligned. Any trouble with that part of the hub so far?
