Im not so much discouraged as I am confused. I can go catch nice crappies on jigs in plenty of other lakes. I was just wondering if there is a rhyme or reason to them on this body of water. I don’t know where the crappies were in the fall. I hammered them all spring and summer trolling crappie tubes on the edge of the weeds but when fall came I was fishing Cannon for walleyes and shooting mallards lol.

I was on ice last night after the rain in the Mankato MN area. The ice was a foot thick but questionable at best. maybe 5 inches of the foot was decent ice. Starting to pull away from the shoreline. I will try to fish this weekend but extreme caution is advised.

I was also wondering if anyone knows if an Lx7 will fit in there?

The rain concerns me also the 6 says of 50+ degree weather. But I think there is a chance that it will make it in southern mn

If we can make it till next Friday with walkable ice the extended forecast doesn’t look too bad.

I know. That’s why I was wondering how much rain is coming. I seen several trucks on the lake still today.

That’s weird. Do you have the plastic screen protector on it?

We are holding on to 14 inches or so here in southern Minnesota. Not sure if it will make it through the 60 degree weekend.

How much rain is in the forecast? That’s not my concern I just don’t know if our 14 inches of ice can handle 5 straight 50+ degree days.

3 or 4 pound suffix ice magic is about the best in my opinion and at less than 4 bucks a spool it’s hard to go wrong.

It’s a jiffy That s the problem. Strikemaster is the way to go if you want an auger that works.

I have an lx7 And I love it! It’s a great unit and it is also durable. I dropped mine while carrying it across the ice last night and it never skipped a beat.

No I was on Jefferson. I just hope enough ice to walk on will make it. I’m not ready to be done fishing yet.

I’m South south of the metro. I don’t think that 17 plus inches of ice is going to become unwalkable in 4 days of 50 plus. It will be a mess but I think we will be able to walk on it. Had my truck on it yesterday.

My local forecast says 30s 40s and even 50s for at least the next 15 days. That’s not good for ice.

Yeah I am in Minnesota about 50 miles south of the metro. We have a solid 18 to 20 inches on area lakes so it wont disappear overnight. Just might have to walk for the rest of the season.

I had an Eskimo and I had some similar issues but it was never a huge deal. I upgraded to the strikemaster honda 35cc laser auger anger and it was the best thing I have ever done. Best ice auger by far I have ever used. It cuts faster than any other has auger on the market and it’s only 23 pounds. Not to mention no mixing gas and also a lot less fumes. Just my input. You get what you pay for with auger.

Yeah who knows what it’s going to be like. It keeps changing. Now it says 50 for Friday February 17 but it could be 25. I don’t care I’ll drive North if I have to.

I emailed the guy of YouTube but that was in 2012 when he made that video. So I’m not sure if he still does it. If anyone sees or hears of someone making theese let me know. Thanks!
