First thing I’d make sure which way the wind is blowing the day your fishing. I’ve always had good luck out of isle launch and work the reefs and rock piles up the east shore. Head to big point as well. Also don’t be afraid of working the reed edges looking for small holes or rocks with a senko Texas rigged. You can do well with shallow running fat raps as well. Once you hit em slow down and cast some finnese baits. Caught a lot that way.

    Have fun!!

i use gamakatsu 4/0 worm hooks i dont use the normal wacky hooks simply due to the fact i like to switch on a whim between wacky rigged and texas weedless style. also the longer shanked hooks prevents gut hooking. have lots of success with this especially when casting in the thick of weeds and slowly slingin it through.

I just got the wright and McGill tony roach 9 footer I believe. It worked great this weekend with some suffix advance 832 lead core. Really nice action and flex for no ripped hooks. Trolled Mille lacs this past weekend with tail dancer deeps and did well 12 fish from 22 to 26

I really hope to be able to learn Lake Superior this year and the techniques required to catch some of these lakers. I’ve never been on superior but I hope to real soon.

I’d love to tag along with you grant or anyone else familiar with how to fish up there.

I appreciate any info any of you can give.

That dead ski made me understand why ski fishing is so addictive. Like us fishing for flatheads!

The bass bite was great as was the walleye bite. Got most of em pitching swimming grubs reeled in reeeeeaaaaal slow. Walleye seem to be shallow and are looking to eat. Look for transition areas from reed beds to rocks or sand

Hey BK, weren’t we just talking about this guy ^^^ the last time we went out fishing? I don’t know if it is him, it has been so long.

I know I’m bad. Been meaning to get out fishing with you mike for a while. Did you ever get into the 30lb club? I remember that was a tough hurdle. It sucks not having a boat.

    What’s next, Tony posts?

I usually hook my bullies in the lower jaw hook point down with great success. They stay lively and I have pretty good hookup percentage and the hook does not go back into the bullie as it sometimes does tail hooking them. I also will make a vertical presentation with the bait directly under the boat a few reel turns above river bottom where the bait will go nuts and you get to see some violent strikes. Try it sometime and see!

My hook size depends on the size of bait i am using. that usually ranges from 5/0 to 10/0 i use gami octo and kahle, kahle no bigger than 7/0.

hoping to get out fishing some flats this weekend for the first time this year. been catching stupid walleye too much lately and it is starting to really bore me

Hey Joe! If you ever break that fenwick on a big flat bring her on over to Joes sporting goods in st. paul. they have the best staff there and will be more than happy to get it replaced for basically free. Not a lot of dealers or big box stores will do this. I just brought in a st. croix avid i broke while fishing smallies and it only cost me 20$ for a new one!! That 20 is just for shipping the old rod to st. croix. I know they do that for fenwick too.

finnally you got some flathead rash pug!

i dont use circle for much other than sturgeon and channels.

try downsizing to 7/0 if your using 6 to 8 inch bullies or any time your using anything other than bullie like a sucker you will be suprised at how well they work.

if you use circles try hooking the bullies through the lower jaw with the hook pointing down. this also seems to work well.

I have a trophy 190 and really love it! It rides great in heavy weather and I can still use it in pretty shallow river.

I think to give our legislators examples and studies of other states (even nearby ones) that have many of these rules already being allowed there and showing that it has not damaged resources can go a long way. I heard the excuse being used to throw out the 2 rod rule saying more fish will be caught. Well thats why we have limits idiota! Dont see why we cant get these passed if we all support it and talk to our legislators we could see action taken. the way I see it this can only help to improve the economy.
