If banked in well shouldn’t go anywhere.
Run a cable through tow hooks and using a tie plate bolt to ice.

Fish them like you would walleye or perch, they are predators. Jigging spoons bounced off or near bottom. Dead stick as well with colorful or flashy jig. Have had quite a few hit sucker minnows on tip-ups close to bottom, if want to be more serious about the party than the fishing.

Ended up on Kelly/Dudley. Could see easily down 10′. Speared two 27″ pike with 11 total encounters. Live decoy in green harness.

I’ve owned every vexilar unit except the fl28 and stuck with the fl22. I rarely fish in water over 20’though. If you fish in deeper water I personally think the fl20 is their best over all in the lineup. I bought a marcum lx9 for my ‘up north’ deeper water trips. Only marcum I’ve owned, pretty sweet!

I use 50# as cuts into hands less. Used to tie hooks directly to for pike and only lost couple over the years. Now days use polure 27# #4 tip-up rig or 30# titanium leader and catch quite a few walleye along with pike.

    I drive a 3/4 ton dodge truck.
I like 12″ of clear non layered ice. Been on as little as 9″ unknowing at first over current, everywhere else was 14″.

I used shoe goop on one of my older ice ducees with great success. Make sure its hanging straight down when glueing and drying though or will shoot to the side.
