Looks nice! Very similar to the one I was quoted at Radco in Duluth. Anything you don’t like about it?

Are you able to reach in from the sides and reach what you need? I like Brian and Joe’s suggestion above with the Decked system, but not sure I have the funds for that right now.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the advice. Young kids & car seats will be taking up the backseat most of the time, otherwise the dog would ideally ride in the cab.

I don’t see myself needing to take it on/off very often if ever, so probably looking to go the fiberglass route.

I’ve been looking into kennels & covers. I’ll make sure to check out the mud river brand.

I have a Norsk battery and charger for mine, but no, I don’t need to have the shuttle powered on for it to charge.

The button light ring does not turn on when the charger gets plugged in either.

I have the SpotOn version and have been fairly happy with it. A little more up front cost than the Halo brand, but you don’t have to buy the monthly subscription with this one if you don’t want the tracking feature. My only complaint is the line can move 10-15 feet at times depending on the GPS signal, but that may not be an issue if you have a larger property.

Battery life is good enough for a full day and the app is pretty easy to use as far as training the dog and setting up different fences.

Anyone else have trouble with a heavy coat dog. I’ve had 2 labs that have had a coat so heavy I needed DT extended contacts, that are no longer available. My last DT died and can’t find extended contacts for current models.

Can’t speak for the DT models, but the Garmin I have came with the extended contacts and looks like they still do:

I have used the Garmin Pro Sport for 4-5 years now and it has been great. Good battery life and no issues through a fair amount of abuse while grouse, pheasant, and duck hunting. Also has a couple extra features with a bark limiter and a light that I use more than I thought I would.

+2 for Rogers and the free shipping when you buy a case worth. I’ve been shooting Rio shells through an SX2 the last few years and been happy with it. No duds so far and seems to shoot a little cleaner than the Federals in my experience.

Fished it on Sunday morning. Slow for us. Only caught a couple, both in 15-20 ft. It was glass calm all morning so I’m sure that wasn’t helping. Water temps were mid 50s everywhere we went.

Had a very similar situation happen this weekend, although it wasn’t worthy of a vet visit. Dog came out of the woods dripping blood everywhere with a gash on the top of his tongue. Not sure what caused it, but after a little time out the bleeding quit and we were hunting again a few hours later.

As for the first aid kit, I purchased a dog specific one and bring it in the truck or wheeler all the time. It has come in handy more than once.

I put our dog in the boat a few times while it was on the trailer when he was a pup. Not sure how much of a difference it made, but never had any issues with jumping out or peeing.

I’ve been out a few times this year. Lots of 12-13 inchers with some slot fish mixed in.
We had our best luck this last weekend in 27-28’ on leeches. Not exactly ideal fishing conditions though.

We were going to fish the river last weekend, but the water was very low when we got there and we didn’t hear any good reports. Ended up fishing the lake instead.

Bought a Carbon X 2000 this spring. I’ve only used it a handful of times, but so far I really like it. Drag seems to be just as good or better than comparable reels I have owned and it cost 25% less. They seem to run sales on their website fairly often too.

Thanks everyone. I do have the space for a 2nd battery up front.
I think I am going with the 80lb w/o the link.

    Thanks for the input everyone.
mnfisherman – I think you are probably right that I wouldn’t regret the extra power. I am just cheap and was hoping to save some money.

Hoping to use the boat on a variety of lakes & rivers, so flexibility is a plus.

Going to look into the onboard charger as well.
