Great bite tonight upper portion. A lot of 12-14” fish, 4-17-20”.
Found a current break and camped out. 50/50 on minnows or blade baits. Next few days should be great!

Yes, I was out last night in a white lund. Mixed bag of walleye, catfish, and smallmouth. If the water drops a bit it will be on fire!
Still plenty of junk to watch out for when navigating.
Saw the jokers that launched from Hidden falls, I think they drove around barricade, when I saw them on the river they didn’t understand what no wake zone meant either…
Called Watergate Marina today, $150 for season pass for the rest of the year.
Gonna get mine today. Good ramp, secure vehichle, nice dock, no current or rocks.
I usually get one in April, but with this crappy water levels tonight will be my first trip on pool 2
I have been shooting the rage for th past 2 years. Last year I took a good buck and 2 does with the 2 blade in MN….devistating holes. This year I switched to the 3 blade because of the law here in SD. I took a turkey in the spring and missed a good antelope with them, not the heads fault for failure, but rather operator error. This fall I punched a buck with 3 blade and it did not deploy!!! The head was right in the sweet spot but just entered the skin and lodged the arrow. This stunk, but a neighboring hunter saw him 2 weeks later and said he looked fine but still had my arrow. They were not part of the recall heads. I lost some confidence in the head so I pulled out the slick tricks and center punched a good buck. 1 week later I pulled out the rages again and had a great pass through and watched her drop right in front of me.
Even though I had one bad experience, I will continue to shoot the rage. I also shoot slick tricks which shoot with my field points. Yesterday I shot the g5 montecs and they shot along side the rage, slick tricks, and my field points. Tonight I am hoping to get a good field test on them
Broadhead preference is all about personal choice and more importantly placement. Take suggestions from others and try a few of them with your equipment to find which one shoots best out of your rig. Fixed or expandables? For me it’s a toss up, I feel the expandables may give me a few more yards of effective range…..as well as huge holes!
100% mule deer . Looking at he face it is more grey and also doesn’t have the white rings by his eyes. It actually looks like a buck that walked by me tonight, nice up and comer.
Tom’s Taxidermy in Clarks Grove,MN. My family has had 3 deer done and 2 full body turkeys. His worked is amazing. I have also had 4 real fish done and 1 replica done. I would highly recommend him to everyone. I am planning on having him do a european mount of my mulie I shot out here in SD, just gotta cordinate the 500 mile trip with some family time.
4 point buck for team #9. Shot on 11/10/2007. I used my T/C encore muzzleloader with the omega scope. I wish I could have scored my mulie, but the coyotes beat me to him…
Here is my mule deer doe from SD. Bow kill at 17 yards . 12/26/07. Please add it to team 9. thanks.
Congrats Mr. Lenway!!!!! We will have to get the detailed story at Christmas.

If you can go to a pro shop and have them set up a few that is the best option. I use to shoot a whisker biscuit, which I loved, but now a use a schaffer drop away, works excellent. I really like the idea of the ripcord and it probably will be my next one some day. I also think the Muzzy zero effect is well designed also.
Good luck in your search.

I have been using the TC shock wave 250 gr bonded. Great accuracy and all deer died quickly. I use the nikon omega scope on my encore so I use the formula that goes with the sighting system 250 grain bullet,150 grain of 777, and I use the 777 primers.

That was a really cool deal. If I remember right, his wife actually saw that dear the evening before so Stan and his son Tim set up and they crushed!

Definately go for the quick release. Saves a lot of time and lets you get set up for muzzleloader season asap.

Great questions Steve! Yes I always use a range finder and use it 2 ways, range objects as you settle into the stand..could be trees, edge of the grass, or a knob etc. I like Nikons range finders personally, but I still have a bushnell for back up. Furthest shot was 175,I put it in between the first 2 circles and pulled the trigger. Under 100 yds, if I remember right at 50 it hit about 2″ high, not a huge deal but you could adjust if you felt it was needed. I plunked a few practices at 200+ and the reticle was right on, but I needed to adjust for cross wind, easy during practice but not when the animal is in your sights. My goal this year is to learn windage and record bullet drift. You got me chomping at the bit to shoot my encore right now, but the bow and the new .270WSM have priority right now. Here is a link with some nice tips on setting up a omega scope.

Good Luck out here deer hunting Lip. I have been seeing a lot of fine mule deer recently, I just wish I could get closer to post some pretty velvet pics. Western SD is very dry currently, but the rains have been hitting some areas well in the last week. Here along the Cheyenne river valley we have been missing all the rain. On the bright side that should help my antelope waterhole ambush
program
Anyone that ventures off the roads please remember not to drive through any tall grass or to smoke out in the field, these prairies could burn up very quickly and wipe out thousands of acres.

I used it on my Tc encore for the MN general season instead of my slug gun. I will never go back to sluggin again! If you do your practice, that scope is that cat’s meow.It has really extended my range. For the regular muzzleloader season I just take of my scope and really enjoy using the fine open sights TC puts on their guns. As far as using 150 grains of powder, it doesn’t add that much more kick, but I do use a limb saver slip on recoil pad, very happy with that piece of equipment.250grain bullet,3 powder charges and the omega scope=Big smile on a deer hunter.
