$607 out the door for a new Mercury Spitfire X7 13×17 and refinishing the aluminum one for a backup.

Who’d you go with for new prop and fixing the old Alum prop? Thanks

You can put that pileated in the deep fryer. Hate those destructive birds.

Couldn’t agree more. They are pounding holes in a couple trim boards on my entryway.

Haven’t seen the orioles since I put out jelly either. They liked the oranges and hummingbird feeder for a few days and they took off. Almost ready to refill them already- at least 5-6 different hummers coming in. Had a big woody pounding on a stump last night and when I went to fill the feeders in the back yard I was going to grab a couple shovels to put in the shed and almost stepped on this fawn (I know, it’s not a bird). It stayed put when I mowed the front yard and blew the driveway off. The kids were worried that momma wasn’t around. I said- she’ll be back by dark I bet. They patiently watched out the window on/off throughout the evening and yup- she came back right before dark, nudged the fawn a bit to wake it up, nursed it, then they headed off into the woods. I hate living in town- but have a nice wooded lot with plenty of deer, turkeys, ducks, and song birds that helps get me by until I can get out of town.

This morning I saw an oriole by the jelly feeder (that doesn’t have jelly yet) so I put out the hummingbird feeders and an orange and 30 minutes later had 4 orioles. A few hours later I saw a scarlet tanager, and a rose breasted gross-beak on the suet feeder and then first hummingbird of the year flew by the empty jelly feeder and buzzed them both. Hot action in the south metro.

What a situation- I can’t believe they kept them locked down that long! I’m very happy your daughter, students, and the rest of staff were not harmed and thank god your district has a high quality SRO on staff since so many districts have cut the positions.

For a turbo to fail at 96k is definitely not a selling point, that’s actually pretty bad. Did they give a reason why it failed so early. And what kind of use did you have with the truck for those 96 thousand miles , I’m just personally curious

It was just leaking enough oil to smell it burning, nothing on the ground. It didn’t just all of a sudden ‘go out’. I think my dash says 20,000 miles or so hooked up to a trailer (nothing huge) so average use I would think. No, I’m not saying that’s a selling point by any means just reporting my actual cost of replacement here locally.

Not sure where the $5000 quote came in above for a turbo replacement. But I have a 2015 ecoboost with 96000. Last year at 90,000 I was getting a smell of oil burning so I had them look at it when it was in for a rare oil change that I didn’t so myself. The non-dealer shop said it needed a turbo replacement on drivers side. I gave them the extended warranty info and it was covered. The paper work says $950 part and $450 install. I can live with that. Even if I didn’t have the warranty that’s a couple of payments and it’s been paid off for years. I had also been hesitant to buy the eco for reasons mentioned. I had a 5.0, 6.2, and then drove and eco and loved it and bought one. Then my FIL had a Ranger last 2 years and I’ve driven it many times and pulled my boat and a few trailers and might buy one next actually. More room in the drivers seat than I expected and pulls what I need and the other advantages already listed of a mid size. I would not be afraid of the mini turbo set up. It’s a nice truck and probably more capable than many of the full sized trucks I’ve had in the past. If it doesn’t fit in the little box I use a trailer.

It’s bad. I thought our lake was dry at the end of last summer and it’s worse now of course. I was there saturday and figure I’ll have to add 2 dock sections to push it out far enough to get the toon on/off the lift because it was high and dry last fall.

Tiller, side console, tiller, tiller, center console, windshield, tiller, tiller, now back to windshield plus pontoon. At this point in my life family comfort is the main factor and occasional water sports as well. I can fish out of anything. But even with hydraulic assist I don’t care to pull kids with a tiller ever again vs a wheel. In a perfect world several boats is nice but a pain to maintain/store/insure. I’ve had a couple at a time 2x and I’m back at it again. But I still miss a smaller tiller when I’m fishing solo.

My dad and his buddies have used Gulf Rebel charters for many years for several different trips throughout the winter-spring. Near shore bottom fishing for day trips and multi day tuna trips. I’ve been out with them several times as well. Nice family run operation and nice boats- they just added one to the fleet as well. http://www.gulfrebelcharters.com

Was it a fluke? I don’t see anything in the sale ad. I haven’t been in target for many years and don’t want to but I’ve also been looking for a deal on a rib roast. It’s driving me nuts- my folks on the Bama coast can buy it at Publix for like 5.99 and have cut enough steaks for the year.

My last house was about #5,000 with a V. With a 5.0 F150 tow package you’d have to be going down hill to get above single digit mpg towing. 6.2 gas F350 was 10-11mpg. Can’t say I noticed much difference pulling a friends older one with flat front. You’ll probably get at least .10000009 mpg more with a V than a flat nose. No data of course but I wouldn’t doubt if having a topper on the truck or not was just as much of a difference. If it was a trailer being pulled all over the country maybe it would add up.

Reminds me of 2012 if my memory is correct. Fishing in the boat on the river most of the winter and camping on the upper Croix in March with pretty much normal summer river levels because of so little snow.

I ALMOST pulled the trigger on the newer style cross climate 2 for the wife’s exploder but went right back to Michelin Defender again because they’re great and same issue with wanting to keep regular 4 tire rotations.

Well this is with middle school age kids (so no casino needed) and christmas week so most likely walking only at that point with the way the weather has been!

Yes, there are hundreds of rentals on the water and I’ve looked at half of them. What ones have YOU stayed at with decent fishing in front of the cabin or a decent walking distance from the cabin? Thanks

I’d wrap it and ship it myself. Woodbury cabelas sent in my daughter’s gun for warranty repair and when I drove there to pick it up the vented rib on the barrel looked like it was hit with a hammer a few times and was crushed down to the barrel. I said there’s no way I’m taking that home it was brand new when I brought it here. Then they denied damaging it in the back room or during shipping. It was a huge run around and waste of time. Between the first repair and sending in for a new barrel she was without that one for 3 months. Then when it finally came back we sat there for well over an hour while they couldn’t find it in the back room. I already hated cabelas but it was the only place in the midwest who that that gun last year when we needed it.

River Street Pier is a great place for fish! After a recommendation from a local I brought my son there for fri fish fry when we were in town for his first game and a stadium tour earlier this year. You know you’re in a local food dive when the regulars all turn around and look at the new guys walking in and give you stink eye for probably being in their ‘regular spot’ haha. I’m a big eater but shouldn’t have had a bowl of chowder for an app because I couldn’t eat all my perch! I agree the Lambeau experience isn’t just for packer fans. Many times I’ve gone with fans of the opposing team and they were always treated well tailgating and inside the stadium.

Same experience as the OP with .243 cal. My mom used a mod 70 Win .243 and when I very young and I would go in the stand with her or my dad before I was old enough to hunt. She killed a ton of deer with that (most dropped on the spot as well) and it was my first year gun. After my first year I got a 270 for whatever reason but I do think the .243 is the ultimate whitetail round. After she quit hunting when it was too cold (WI seasons) and over many years after I think every neighbor kid around us used that .243 their first year hunting and many ended up buying their own. My dad always loaded nosler partitions and now it’s passed on to my daughter with many boxes of those hand loads.

It’s not connected to the house so not sure about the permit in your town but I didn’t get one. It’s not permanent- I can unbolt it and move it from that location whenever I want. I just put it up temporarily to get ready for my daughters graduation party in 5 years and I also lost all of my guns in a tragic boating accident.

50# per square foot is a lot of snow. If looks like I should hit it with a roof rake I will. I’m kind of hoping that with all of the outdoor cooking I do that and a little sun here and there might be enough to slide some stuff off of there? Time will tell. I live here it’s not at a remote property so I can monitor and adjust after crappy weather so I’ll get it figured out. My bigger concern is not being able to reach the shingles now as easily for when I want to rake above the gutters a few feet.

Update on my lean-to. I went ahead and poured that concrete in early June. The couple quotes I got were crazy high (10-20g) for a 10×20′ lean-to. I was at Sam’s club and noticed a gazebo kit that sloped one way- maybe half the size I needed but it looked pretty nice and it was cedar so it matched other woodwork. So I searched the brand online ‘Backyard Discovery’ and they made a 10×20 and it was only $3g shipped to my house and dropped on my slab via lift gate. This was less than half the price of the materials I was quoted at Menards to build my own. It was some work getting it up and needed a hand with holding the ends when I was putting the cross beams on but it really went together nice and looks much nicer than my menards build would have been. There are 4 concrete anchors on each post and claims to withstand 100mph winds and 50# per square foot of snow load- so, time will tell. I didn’t think I would get this done in the next few years but the price was so cheap I had to do it and have enjoyed it all summer. It was intended for the boat but quickly turned into my outdoor cooking area and will stay that way.

I purchased a set for an F150 and put on 15,000 miles before selling the truck so I’m not sure how long they lasted the next guy. I didn’t have any problems balancing and wear looked normal with regular rotations which I do when I change oil. The only reason I didn’t buy them on my current truck is they didn’t have the exact size I wanted for the lift I have. They don’t have as many size options. I could have purchased 3 sets for the price of my current tires.

At the start of summer my wife saw an ad for a BP credit card that offered 50 cent off a gallon for 3 months. I got one and we used it for 3 months then she got one and we are using that one until the deal is done. I’m a big KT fan but this obviously beats any deal I can get there and this one station in town is usually the lowest to begin with and I drive by often. With an 11 and 13 year old in way too many sports and activities all over the midwest and trying to fit in fishing trips between it has certainly saved us some coin this summer. When I filled up yesterday the card offer now says 30 cents off not 50.
