Thanks guys. Let it sit for an hour and it ran like an charm.

I always use non-oxy gas, but will add some seafoam and look into cleaning out the carb.

Not sure… could you call the place you bought it from or glacier customer service?

Nordeast when I’m fishing, cleaning fish, or eating fish.

Summit IPA is my go to beer.

Badger Hill has some good craft beer selection as well.

    Quick Question:

As I store my Yetti for the summer, should I lower it down on blocks, or just keep it up on the wheels?

Also, wondering for summer camping, do people lower it down, or just keep it up on the wheels?

    Thanks

I see your point but how much water can you “claim”?

Wasn’t claiming all the holes that were drilled. But, I think I can claim the hole that I am fishing out of, and the 50 feet at least radius around it, especially when there is only ONE other fisherman out there.
Totally different story if there are 20+ people out there, or if it is on a crappie hole.. but these were fish roaming around the basin.

To the OP, can I ask how close he was to you, in terms of feet, would you say?

    Maybe 20 feet max.

How does one own a hole in the ice? How long can you claim a hole?
Not trying to be an a hole.

I would have no problem if he went and fished holes 100 yards away from us that we already drilled. The issue I had is that he took the opportunity away from my buddies and I fishing together.

As for the person wanting to be social, that’s fine, I’m usually a social person. But, I wanted to be social with my buddies, and obviously that is what I ended up doing.. just would have been nice to stay on the fish.

Finally, there are certain lakes where I would expect someone to come and fish right next to me. Especially, well known lakes or metro lakes. This was neither of those, and for him to be the only person on the bay of the lake, I would think he could find his own fish.

    Who are the cheaper options?

Could you get a 19′-21′ footer that is single axle with hydraulics?
    [/quote]

I think you can get an ice castle frame, but I could be wrong. I also know that you can go through smaller companies, but I don’t have any by name.

19-21′ frame with hydraulics? Not sure.

I had the dealer add 3 more holes to my Yetti, and will probably add an AC or a fan this summer, done by a dealer. The reason I didn’t do it myself is because I’m just not good at that stuff, and although I might be able to figure it out, after the amount of time and money spent on figuring it out, it’s actually cheaper for someone else to do it.

If you are going to buy a brand new Yetti, you can have the dealership customize it in certain ways. Or, you can have a dealership do it. I personally have not had good experience with Absolute Trailer Sales. Northland Auto Sales has gone above and beyond helping me out, so I would recommend them.

The reason I got a Yetti was not just because it is lighter and aluminum, but also because I like their standard layout, as it is more fishable. If you just want to go customized, there is cheaper options for the frame.

Well our trip got cut short. Long story short was at 4am was too cold for propane to flow for my heater, batteries froze and wouldn’t take charge, potable buddy heater o ring was cracked and leaking and unable to use, brand new portable electric heater didn’t work doah

Luckily the Ford fired right up and packed up and took my batteries home to thaw and charge and hopefully there not junk. Was a trip from hell, lesson learned I’m not going when it’s that cold again coffee

Glad you have a good attitude about it now. Sometimes those trips from hell are actually my favorite trips (as long as no one gets seriously injured), as they make for great stories for many years to come. Also, you’re able to look back and say, how stupid was that, and how did we not die!!!

Thanks for the recommendation, the last time I bought a pair of boots was in 2009, and was time for an upgrade. Stopped by the Crystal store last night, and am glad that it was closing soon, otherwise that could have been a really expensive trip, they have EVERYTHING in there!!
I called ahead and they had my size waiting for me at the front counter. However, like earlier posts said, they run at least a size higher, so I had to get the 13 instead of the 12.
Great customer service in the store, and I’m guessing I will be going back there again in the summer.

I just bought the Finicky Fooler 365, excited to use it on a bucket. I also ordered a insulation sleeve for the hole and a bigger bucket with a lid, and an additional bucket lid so I could get free shipping.

So, with the warm up in temperature, something loosened up, and I can lower and raise it.I think we figured out that the grease (or lack there of) froze up, so am going to add grease to it tomorrow, and I’m thinking will be set to go for the year.
    Thanks for the help!!

I would be remiss not to say the Zack Shack. Mine is 6×10, and extremely light weight. Easy to set up, I can drop it myself in less than a minute. Although, I think that Ridgeline are better built than the original Zack Shack, I’ve heard the new Zach Shack’s are solidly built with a better door system, etc.

Full-Disclosure: I’m about to post a question on the forum about an issue I have with my Zack Shack.

How has nobody commented that Zach Shack Guy bought a Yetti? whistling
    DT

Yeah, I upgraded this year, kind of big time. However I still have the Zach Shack (6 years now I think). The Zach Shack is a great house to fish out of, but for overnight trips, it sure is nice having a bed, oven, microwave, etc.

    Any new name suggestions?

Chains are a must. If independent rear suspension then blocks also. On the flat you’ll be good, but any uphill ramp and you’ll dig and spin. What is your highway tow vehicle?

Yeah, I think I am going to arrange someone to bring it out, as I do not have chains either.

Highway tow vehicle is a 2012 Silverado 1500.. the Yetti actually tows better on the highway than my zachshack because it has a v-front.

I always bring 2 with me, mainly because I am paranoid that one will stop working, and don’t want to be stuck without a flasher. Plus, it’s nice to have an extra one in case someone with you does not have one, or theirs stops working as well.

I was just commenting to someone today that all my non-work clothes (and some of my work clothes) used to come from Cabelea’s margin cave. Once they got rid of that, I think I have spent $50 at Cabela’s, and that’s only because I had a $50 gift card.

Used to be my go to store, but not anymore. When Gander Outdoors was in Eden Prairie, I actually thought it had a good selection and prices on Ice Fishing gear, but they are no longer there. As for Scheel’s, not overly impressed with their ice fishing selection. So, my go to store know is Fleet Farm, and as an added bonus, I can get half of my grocery shopping done there as well!!!

Thank you for all of the recommendations. Lot’s of books or authors that I would not have heard of otherwise.

I know that everyone probably has heard of this book and maybe were required to read it in school, but for my money Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is the best book that shows the depths of mankind. I think I’ve read it at least 10 times, and every time it hits me profoundly.

Another good book is The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. The end of the book isn’t the best, with a political push, but a great look at Chicago in the beginning of the 20th century.

A good MN book is Poachers Caught!: Adventures of a Northwoods Game Warden. Easy read, with some funny stories, and some stories almost impossible to believe.

One of the worst days of my life was when I was ice fishing in 2003, I was 20 at the time. It was about 10 days after my father had passed away and I was fishing a local pond. During that time I was using my dad’s cell phone. Day started off well with catching a huge crappie (back then I didn’t even have a marcum or anything). Of course I felt the need to call people and tell them about it. Not thinking I put the phone in the front chest pocket of my bibs. Well, eventually I needed to change the propane on my heater and bent over to grab the heater, and plunk there goes the phone, straight down the hole. No bounce or anything, just straight in. As I sat there dumbfounded, I was already dreading informing my mother of what had happened. Finally I got the courage to go home, and inform my mom of what happened (back then there was no cloud or anything, and I wasn’t even sure we would still have my dad’s voice saved from his greeting on the voicemail).
Well, I got home and tried to inform my mom of what had happened. Before I could say anything, she informed me that she had received a certified mail package for me from the university I was attending. That’s when my heart really dropped. Needless to say, with my dad being sick that semester, I knew my grades were going to suffer. What I didn’t know was that they suffered so much, that the university actually kicked me out based on my academic performance (or lack there of).
So, losing my dad’s cell phone and being kicked out of college in the same day, after just losing my dad… I would say that was a pretty bad day. However, lessons were learned. I haven’t lost a cell phone down the hole since (been close many times), and after petitioning the university I was let back in, and carried about a 3.5 the rest of my time there.
Sorry for the long post, it just brought back this memory, and thought it would be good to write it out.

Got the LX-7 back today (although I had to call them to see if it was ready)… they said that it was an electrical component that had to be switched, but the guy didn’t really know what that meant. They also re-did the wires on the battery connecter for me as well as replaced the knob that had fallen off.
I am hopeful that it will work up at Lake of the Woods next week. I usually bring a back-up with me (LX-1 and FL-8), but have 2 buddies coming up with me that will be using them, so let’s hope I don’t have to confiscate one of them back.
Overall, I was not overly impressed with the customer service, however I also know that it is the busiest time of the year for them. For me as long as the unit works from now on I will be a happy customer, because I think that the LX-7 when working is an awesome unit.

    Sand Burr,
Thanks for the reply… I know have no idea what to plan for the trip. The good news is that we are fishing for 5 days, so I guess we can move if we need to.

Brought it in yesterday… they said that they had never seen the problem before. They were very nice and they said that I should have it back to enjoy in time for Lake of the Woods next week.
