Thanks for the reply. I’m not in a rush – turns out my neighbor has one he is willing to lend me for my upcoming trip. But, I am looking for one if you decide to sell.

It is the large (standar SD) size that my unit uses. What model Lowrance did you use it in and maybe I can confirm it will work with mine.

Is there a problem with the temperature display on the bobbercam? It’s not displaying. Not sure if it’s just my setup that needs tweaking.

    Thanks!

I used a 55# autopilot on my old 14ft. basic aluminum fishing boat and could run all day on one battery. On my heavy 17.5ft Pro-V, I had to move to a 24-volt system to get both power and running time. The 12-volt 55# would only last about 3 hours on the heavier boat. You will love the autopilot no matter which you choose. I’m a big fan of the co-pilot too.

I’ve always heard you should never ever use synthetics right out of the box. You need to use petro based oil through the entire break-in period. After that, synthetics are fine.

I just quit the cope habit this year after doing it for over 25 years. Nicorette gum and mint snuff were the only thing that worked for me. I needed the feeling of something in my lip and the mint snuff was the closest to the real thing I’ve found. Once the nicotine part was under control, I was able to cut back on the mint stuff and finally stop all together. I still keep cans of the mint snuff in “high risk” places like the car and the boat in case I feel the urge to slip. Best thing is, it WAS NOT HARD! The combination of the nicotine gum and the mint snuff made it easy to do.

You can use NMEA 0183 (page 35 in the owner’s manual) to send GPS data from one unit to the other. That would save you the money and hassle of using LowranceNet. I run 2 520’s networked this way and leave one on sonar and run the other as GPS only. It’s easy to set up — all you need is some wire.

My friend had trouble with it. His is dash mounted in a full windshield boat. It kept losing and re-acquiring signal one day — drove us nuts. Not sure if his windshield was causing the problem or not. The other boat fishing the same area with us didn’t have a problem with their external GPS.

Wow! Those are some nice fish!

We had a great time up there! On the second full day, the boat I was in smacked a rock and took the skeg off. Prop shaft was bent and oil was leaking. We were 24 miles out, so the rest of the day was spent towing it back. I really felt bad for the guy — it was a brand new boat and this was his first fishing trip with it. It probably only had 12 hours on it.

But, the fishing there is incredible! I couldn’t believe the bite. We had good weather and the bite was going strong!

Good point. I would actually want to use it rigging 60% of the time.

I had the same experience on Bald Eagle last year. The sailboats (several of them) seemed to be trying to get as close to my boat as possible. Real jerks!

You might consider using one of the outfitters. They offer guided trips where they basically take care of everything. Then you can focus on the hunt and enjoy yourself. If you decide to outfit yourself, feel free to PM me for suggestions. I go up there a few times each summer and have learned a lot of tricks to stay comfortable out there. Good and light raingear is your best friend

I don’t think it matters. I watched a friend’s 4-year-old niece catch 25″+ walleye one after another last summer on Mille Lacs. Her secret weapon — a Barbie fishing pole

I would second Jason’s reply. I have a 35# coated navy anchor and a water spike. The spike is amazing on Mille Lacs. Holds the boat well and doesn’t break my back if I move alot. That navy anchor gets old in a hurry

Here’s a tip with cashier’s checks. Use 411 on your cell phone to get the phone number of the bank branch on the check. Then, you can ask them to verify the cashier’s check. I wouldn’t just call the phone number on the check — look up the number yourself to make sure you are talking to the bank and not a scam artist.

I think the difference between LE and SE is the positon of the console. On the SE, it is placed more in the midpoint between the bow and stern. On the LE, the console is placed further back toward the stern. From your pictures, the bow angle does look different between the two. Not sure if that is LE vs. SE or just size/year differences.

I just got back from Mille Lacs. We launched near Big Point at 3:30am and stayed out until 6pm. North sand was okay for us, but not on fire. Water temps were 47-48 initially and warmed to 50+ by the end of the day. The bite really improved as the water temp broke 50. We finished the day with our limit of 12 17-20″ Walleyes and 3 bonus jumbo perch. Lindy rigged leech was what they wanted today. Largest fish today was 27″.

I saw “Smart Cars” all over the place in Europe. Very tiny (they could park perpendicular in parallel parking spaces). I think they have 2 cyl. engines with CVT transmission (think snowmobile on wheels). The streets were very very narrow and winding — nothing like the nice city streets and highways we have here. I don’t think it would even have been possible to travel over 30mph on them. My only thought about driving a car like that here in the states is, “you first”. I wouldn’t want to see what happens to one of those in a crash with a normal US compact car much less a truck or SUV or Semi. Ouch!

Please stop, Tom P. You are making way too much sense. Can’t you just go along to get along? If anyone is interested, I have 5 slightly used carbon credits for sale. Asking $4,000 each for them

Is the story available on Fox 9’s website? I missed it and haven’t found it on their site yet.

    Thanks.

Gasoline is not a monopoly. At worst, you could say it is an oligopoly. I can think of at least four oil companies competing for our business in the US. I’m just always suprised at the amount of anger directed at companies that are profitable. Profits drive investment and innovation. Case in point are the oil sands in Canada. Without a profit motive, the oil companies would not have an incentive to figure out a way to extract that oil and bring it to market. They are risking their capital in hopes of finding more cost effective ways of extracting the oil where it once was impossible. Their reward for their hard work, multiple costly failures, and innovation is PROFIT. Our reward is a cheaper supply of oil. Market forces are alive and well — even in the oil industry.

Just curious, why do you think profits are a bad thing? Profit is the reason individuals take risks to fill a consumer need. Do you think there might be some high risk involved in oil and gas exploration, extraction, and refining? I have no problem with companies making profits, and it’s their business what salaries they pay to their coporate leaders. Those companies have boards that answer to us — shareholders. I’m not thrilled with the high gas prices either, but please think it through before you attack the very essence of what makes this country great — free enterprise.

B as in B, S as in S. When forecasters start getting 100% accuracy on a weekend forecast, maybe then I’ll be interested in the 50-year predictions of these “scientists”.

I’m still waiting for the ice age that was fast approaching in the 70’s (if the “population explosion” didn’t get us first).

    Same shite, different decade…

I just installed a 3 bank charger and haven’t hooked up the starting battery yet. The instructions said to NOT leave the 3rd lead unattached. I had to basically hook up 2 sets of leads to one battery and one set to the other. Check your manual to be sure, as I’m sure they vary from one type of charger to another.

Thanks for posting. I’m not going to worry about it if it’s working okay for others.
