We are leaving Thursday at noon. We will be bringing alternative modes of transportation if the need arises. Any new perch info for the surrounding area? Will be nice to see some warmer temps this trip compared to the few prior ones!

I have heard fur prices are on the rise?? Is this true. Might have to do a little more predator hunting this winter.

I have bow hunted during the gun season many times in the past. I too hunt about seven hundred acres of private land near Park Rapids. Even with three other gun hunters on our land deer were still patternable during the first few days. But it all seems to change after a few days of gun fire. They lose all normal patterns and really start to get on edge. Pinch points near bedding areas always seem to produce during all stages of the rut, even with guns blazing away. One last thing try hunting mid day, I know its hard but if you can stay put it will often pay off when other people are in taking their afternoon snooze. Now heres the kicker; I picked the gun back up about three years ago. I had a very large buck, close to 170 chasing a doe around the forest. I had that dude past my stand a half dozen times with no shot. The last fly by he jumped over the fence and stopped broadside at seventy yards. He searched for that doe for a good five minutes. Finally he heard some movement farther up in the neighbors property and took off in that direction. You know the rest of the story. A couple minutes later BANG! I now hunt with a muzzle loader during gun season. It gives me a little extra for a week! Good luck this year!

We were also at the wharf this weekend. We managed to some how get our boat through the channel, man that thing is shallow this weekend. We also managed some nice fish friday night the largest being a 27″. We only fished for two hours until the wife got sick, I mean she turned green. The wind was a huge factor this weekend on that side of the lake. Clown color husky jerks size 12 was hands down the winner this weekend for us with chrome and black a close second. I would love to get back this week for an evening but I wonder with the huge cold front and flurries wed and thurs how this will effect the fishing? All in all it was another great weekend on the pond

We also just returned from lake Minaki two weeks ago. Going into Canada was a breeze at 6:oo in the morning. But coming back through Baudette was a different story. We were pulled over and searched. Covers off boats compartments in boat were all searched and truck was completelly gone through. We must of had the lucky number for the day. One other thing; if you like to finish the day with a few cold ones you are better off paying the tax for extra cases going into Canada. We were not able to due to the early morning hours and ended up paying $39 dollars for a case of beer at the store by paradise Cove! Oh yea leeches were also $45 a pound. Bring Cralers and cranks. The exchange rate is just terriable now. But the fishing was worth it!
