I’ve found an example of a person putting a Ram C mount on the curve of the dash between the gunnel and cupholder. He’s had a 9 inch hbird on there for 400+ hours. I took the cup holder out and that part of the dash is the same aluminum/fiberglass as the rest. I plan to use a few larger washers and mount it there. I’m going to hold off on the 3 prong splitter, go with the 2, and work on a dedicated battery for electronics plan for the summer.

Thank you James Hogan. Boat is brand new and was just rigged. I will call them on ideas for the second graph on a crossover.

Updated question…anyone have any experience using a Ram ball mount with T-Bolt to the Lund Sport track, then a medium Ram arm, to a marine plate C mount? I tried this using the lund sport track quick release bracket but my hand hit the setup when using the throttle. Some on FB say if you use this ball mount right to the track it won’t hit. Experiences or thoughts?

Original work sharp. Had it for about 10 years now. Kitchen knives, filet knives, pocket knives, hunting knives…. People know if they handle a knife of mine it will be sharp.

Kyllo; what type of boat do you have? I’m considering putting my Garmin 106 on my dash beside the 12 Helix, but working through mounts and configurations. I have a 2023 Lund Crossover 1875

I agree Red Dog, have to keep working at it to get it where I want it to be. Took me time and effort with the previous Lowrance, also.

I have the depth settings highlighted for low water and other. Side imaging is what I really plan to dial in as that will be the main use, with the mapping.

I use the one boat network app. to request a call back. I get an almost immediate call back from a knowledgeable person. UNLIKE LiTime batteries.

Was also going to say if you go online and request a callback it is usually way faster than waiting on hold depending on time of day. Then just go about your business until they call you.

I waited on hold for 3 hours over two calls the other day and still didn’t talk to anybody. Figured it out myself so all is well. Good to hear of these options for callback and good to hear their service, once you get someone, has been successful for many here.

Many will say and I echo that the rise of FFS has led to more fish being caught that are suspended than ever before. I caught my personal best walleye with FFS by seeing it at 10-12ft in 29ft of water, reeling up and getting it. With my vexilar I wouldn’t have even noticed that fish.

I don’t think it needs to be banned, applaud the lowering of walleye limits, would like to see more smaller walleye (14 and down) released, like to see 2 rods in the summer, would support barbless hooks, and of course…maxing out the HP on any and all boats sold!

Thanks for the info, all. Can’t take it back, bought it with the new boat in Aug. I went this route as I mainly use this unit for mapping, want to be better with and use more the contour follow feature, the connectivity to auto deploy trolling motor ulterra, and some research led me to believe H-bird side imaging was the best. Time will tell. I have Garmin LVS that I run on two screens for further finding fish and jigging. In theory, I still like the idea and think I can learn more about dialing in the side imaging on this unit for what I want. I’ve said on here before, if/when Garmin gets the auto deploy, contour follow, and FFS units to align and play well together the others are in big trouble.

Good news…used the SD card and the update process was done in less than a minute.

Bad news….have to re-do all my settings. I guess I didn’t have it dialed in very well anyway, so is what it is.

    Lund 1875 Crossover, aluminum.

Also, I did the update download and transfer via One Boat App. Said it was transferred. Shut the unit down and turned it back on…shows old software. Tried to transfer again and the app says the new software os already installed??????

Really wondering if that follow the contour piece os as important to me now, miss the Lowrance.

Sounds like those were all the cheaper line of the 2b rods, not that actual Elliott rods ?
Are they all manufactured here or is the cheaper line over seas ? Only asking because of have no idea. I did play with a 2b rod and it didn’t feel any where near as nice as the Elliott but that was just in store. So I could be wrong.

I’m not sure on where manufacturing did or now does take place. I’ve heard the 2B line is all done in China, and Elliott components are made in China and assembled in Bemidji…but with the sale to Acme…I don’t really know and after my experience I don’t plan to find out.

The 2B line was/is their entry/economical line. I have heard of similar issues with the Elliott line and read some online. Regardless or where a rod was made or what line it is, their policies and practices for customer service are my issue and I wanted to share that for consideration. I hope the rods work out for you and your experience is more positive then mine.

What was the warranty issue ?
    [/quote]

First to paragraphs snipped from my post a few years back and edited for brevity.

Purchased two of their Genesis 6’6 ML-F (2 piece) rods on sale for $110 each on April 29 (2023), directly purchased from the 2B website. One of the rods broke right where the two pieces connect, strange. This occurred the second time the rod was used, and when my son was reeling in a 12 inch white bass. The bass made a run and the rod snapped. I filled out the online forms, yes, there are two forms, and sent in pictures. One form talks about Accidental Use and asks for the consumer to pay $75 in yr one for a replacement rod that breaks due to misuse or accident. I explained that this wasn’t the case, so I was directed to a “Manufacturer Defect” claim. This requires me to pay to ship the rod in ($20) to be inspected. I did that, paid to ship it to them for the next step. Upon inspection I was told “rod looks to have been overstressed causing it to break in the guide wrap, but that likely was a manufacturing flaw on our end.”. That particular rod was discontinued so options were offered at that same price point for replacement options. I discussed use and came to the conclusion that a rod they offer for $189 would be a better option and offered to pay the difference. That offer was accepted and I was sent an invoice. The issue was the invoice included the difference in price and that applicable tax, plus some additional costs (around $15-20). I asked what this additional cost was and was told it was the cost of a rod tube and shipping. At that point I wasn’t thrilled with the experience and shared with 2B that (1) I had very different experiences with other companies in the same line of work, (2) That I didn’t think I should have to pay to ship a rod in to them that broke on its 2nd use with no misuse and then to be told that it was a manufacturer defect and asked to pay for a rod tube and shipping to have a new one shipped to me when I paid for an upgrade. I told them to pick an option; send me a replacement in the $110 options they provided or refund the original cost (with their logic I should’ve asked for reimbursement on my cost for sending in a rod that was a manufacturer defect). I shared that I want to be done with the experience and get to a conclusion as this has been a hassle. Very negative overall experience.

Update… Used my other 2B Genesis rod for the second time since purchase. Tip broke on the second cast. Has been stored in a rod tube in my boat the entire time. After the hassle last time I’m not even gonna bother with a return. $189 retail rod that is 2 for 2 with breaks within first two times being used, coupled with very poor warranty/customer service. No thanks, done with these.

Broke our 3rd rod made by 2B reeling in a 16 inch northern. After past fiascos with their “customer service” and “warranty” plan I’m not even bothering to send this in or make them aware. Hope others had and have better luck but we will not buy anymore of their products.

Since this debacle I have given away or traded, or sold all 2B and Elliott rods I owned and share my opinion of their product service every chance I get. Quick search on this page for past conversations and google will bring results similar as to my interaction.

I love my 6’10 with a carbon x ii. Haven’t had to deal with warranty but that seems to be peoples gripe with them. At least before the acme acquisition. I’ve never had an issue dealing with acme or beaver dam so hopefully that helps improve the Elliot/2b warranty experience.

Yep…my atrocious experiences with 2B/Elliott is why I have absolutely no intention of ever being a customer again and will share my opinion on that every time I can. On the other hand, the personal experiences I’ve had with JT, TUCR, St. Croix, and Limit Creek have made me a customer for life and I share that opinion as often.

I hope it works out for you BC and you enjoy the rods.

Good buddy of mine has this on his boat minus the <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>walleye picture. It was on from the original owner but he never removed it.

Lore or superstition says it’s bad luck to rename a boat….if you’re a believer in that type of thing )

Seems like a sore spot for some, and I know much is in jest. I’m not talking about wraps, or anything crazy, likely going to do it and put in on the back. Will it make it more acceptable to some if while using the boats the occupants are required to catch big fish and high amounts, smoke cigars, chew tobacco, drink whiskey and Busch Light (not the driver, of course), and keep the radio tuned to 80’s hair bands? Not that acceptability has ever been my thing….:)

Very tough in the sun. I had the Aqua View Micro Revolution 5 Pro (something like that) and the battery was poor. Got a Marcum 5 on sale and it lasted two years. Not sure if there has been improvements in this size unit, both of mine were models that came out about 5-7 yrs ago now.

Hahaha, these replies are awesome. Yea, not low cost lures, now my question probably makes more sense. Most that have used Element Custom Baits (Mostly Canadians) say they stand up well to normal wear and tear, matter of fact havent heard anyone say otherwise. I was a skeptic, too, on effectiveness. Saw and experienced first hand these lures on Lake Winnipeg. Not filling a box with them but wanting a few on hand for big eyes. Dinner bell and Pk spoon caught as many but these mugshots/wingdings brought many in and caught many. They are sold online and through Scheels, BTW.

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated but have seen them in action. That said, I’d be a happy product Rep ) )

Thinking more along the lines of a
Plano edge box, gruv box, or a
Normal 3700 and keep them in their boxes. Those mugshots are near $15 a piece with shipping, but i’ve heard they take a beating, and too.

You need to tie direct…that’s too many failure points and too much stuff to manage.

Tiny spro swivel, eliminates line twist. You’re not wrong, though, knots are opportunities for failure….but I’ve caught a lot of fish with this setup

Yep, happens often, especially since I’m in the braid to swivel to flouro leader category. Too make it worse I usually have a rubber bead between the braid and swivel to protect my rod tips from the swivel getting reeled into it. Price of poker, I guess

    James, where did it snap?

When I troll it is pulling raps at 1-2mph or spinners at 0.08-1.2mph…nothing to heavy duty. I don’t use planer boards, down riggers, and don’t even know what dipsy divers are :).

The new boat has 4 hours on it, and I don’t see a need to put tracks on the gunnels for what I use it for, currently.

I’m also continuing to question whether I want/need the whole shuttle up on the track; and will likely get a ram mount that goes on the sport track clip while the shuttle sits on the floor. I have the second screen (9 inch) setup this way for my son in the front and haven’t had any issues. Easy, economical, moveable.

We have the ice bundle which houses a 6 foot power and network cable and a 12 inch graph on a Cisco track mount that we are able to move all around the boat. Works pretty slick and you don’t have to worry about a shuttle falling out at speed.

Do you have the tracks installed on your gunnels, or one of the setups where you have 12-36inches of track between two mounts?

Due to the use in the cold and some areas where power is an issue (BWCA) is why I went with the 18650 and 21700 battery operated Nitecore and Olight. I also bought a backup battery for each that fits in the carry case. Long run time and reliable in the cold.

I know you’ve asked about a more economical product, and I’ve had many of them but don’t have one I can recommend that has held up. I bit the bullet and bought the two list4ed below. Both run anywhere from $60-$100 depending on deals/sales. They are both pretty amazing and I’m very happy with them. I’ve had cheap off brand headlamps, Black Diamond’s, Petzl’s….these are the two best I’ve used.

Nitecore HC 65 UHE and Olight Perun 3
