Congrats James. I have seen every episode and we have had quite a few conversations over the years. I am super happy for you and your family. May god bless you and your family on your journey.
I have been going to Pepin for 5 years and all I can say is location, location, location. I find that the population here hasn’t suffered just has changed. You have to stay mobile and find them like anywhere.
Thomas – I also like perch just maybe not naked could get burned.. Lol
I was there on Sunday and I saw no trucks. I was there from 6am – 7pm and the only truck I saw on ice was on by only far enough to get unloaded. I did see a small SUV drive out maybe to the 7ft deep mark but that was it. I took my snowmobile out to the 17ft depth and tried drilling out there and was on 4″
Was there on Monday and caught some nice crappie in about 14′ of water with some perch mixed in. Nubbinbuck is right on the money as far as where and I wouldn’t drive out there.
Relax man… everyone knows a bite lasts only a short time. Did you ream Outdoors News for their latest fishing report that is posted on a much bigger forum than this? http://www.outdoornews.com/Minnesota/Fishing-Reports/
Scroll down and read the latest update from Red Wing. They also give depths, area fished, and they even talk species.
Update for Pepin… caught 32 crappie and kept 8. I released a 14″ crappie kept the 10″… Caught 5 striped bass and kept 2… no walleye/sauger. I was in 14′ of water and had to keep moving and changing presentations/lures all day. Best bite was around 3:30.
