All of the above but what really ties my shorts in a knot is two cars travel side by side five miles down the freeway because one cruise control is thirty feet an hour faster than the other and he hasn’t got the sense to use the foot feed to get by and clear the left lane.

I gave up posting also. Fishing seems to have become secondary on this site. If you don’t belong to the clique that has taken over this site politically and religiously then you are subject to ridicule or ostracized. The poor guy who had .02 cents in posts and engine trouble the other day probably won’t be back either.

On the other post on this subject I posted a wash at the state ramps. I don’t think I was to clear, I meant a wash simalar to the Red Door Resort to keep the ramp clear of weeds and such only stronger and to chemicaly treat the ramp area as needed to keep zebras and milfoil, etc. from infesting that area so boaters were protected at the worst site of contamination.

What a issue! I have a bunk trailer and worry about the issues raised about them, I do try to get everything visible off the trailer but what can you do about the buried. I think they should put their, our, money into every state boat ramp having a wash and even chemical application to keep them free of invasive creatures, and perhaps state funds for private launches. I also think that the ocean liners that bring us these things ought to be equiped to kill everything in there bilge before they enter our waters or anyone elses or slapped so hard their teeth rattle.

I pulled in there this morning just to check it out and was followed by another vechicle that packed up to the ramp. I joked he forgot his boat but he was there to salt down the ramp. Don’t know that I’ll be cold weather fishing but I gave him a ten dollar contribution for salt. If I use it well go more. Nice to have the option under any circumstances so hope it works out. Hats off to River Rat and all that help out.

I’m interested if not to late. Send me a pm, I’m close to P.I. but would need a little time to put some gear together.

There is a fertilizer product aptly called fish made out of you guessed it, fish byproducts. It sells by the barrel and is used in organic farming. For the life of me I don’t know why they don’t open plants near these infested waters. It used to sell for well over a hundred dollars a barrel. Shipping is a big factor in pricing and I believe it is mainly produced form ocean by products. Most of the use is in the midwest and we have a lot of water ways full of fish where it would not have to be a by product form sheephead to asia carp. They could even put resepticals by public launches and fisherman could keep there trash fish and slide them in the dumpster at the end of the day giving them a source they would’nt even have to pay for. Open up a huge market for commercial fishermen and provide local jobs. It is a great source of npk and if priced competivly would be used in all agriculture production.

I found some really good ones on ebay, cost just under $13 including shipping. I looked at fleet farm locally but they had none here. Really like the ones I got.

If it blocks license plate they can site you, usually just ask you to remove when not in use. I once had a very young officer make me clean my plate on my old farm pickup that I’d only driven into closest town to get a implement tire repaired during planting in a late spring. He then wondered why I seemed upset, so I told him.

Dean Marshall, he’s still the man. Broke mine and he took care of me, thanks Dean. Still has the “Dean’s tackle box” not saying this is exact name.

Nothing wrong with a 29″ bowfin, just as much fun as a bass and if you are into eating fish at least you don’t have to clean this one. , especialy on a fly rod.

The public launch is still closed but just over the hill where the hiking trail is there is another launch that is also open to the public and usable.

Probably 45 seconds fishing to 2.5 minutes jaw flapping. And its not really fishing, set hook, swing fish. Kind of fun to watch in the middle of the winter though.

You ought to just give it a go yourself. Redid a lund a few years ago, kind of fun. If old floor does’nt come out good enough for a pattern take a large piece of cardboard and scribe it. Can’t do it in one shot and it’ll take a little fitting but what the hey.

On the farm I grew up on I used to catch chubs all the time on small rooster tails. Had a barn cat who was untouchable but would follow me to the creek for her share of fresh fish. One day when I freed a snag the rooster tail flew over my shoulder and the cat pounced on it. I then had a real battle. Actually ended up having to have the old landing net brought down, penned the cat underneath it and pulled the hook out of her paw with pliers. Cat was not deterred from her free lunches, just a little more cautious.

Lowell’s Inn in Stillwater also has a excellant lunch menu in the Washington room. Entree is served with a seasoned mash potato and vegetable with a sauce. No french fries or baked. The pistachio crusted walleye was excellant. Actually preferred their lunch menu to the dinner menu altough that was good also. Lunch is really reasonable for a nice dining experience.

I tried to ask for on water experience last year. Hard to come by. I broke down and bought one from cabela’s when I had a discount card but did’nt get to use it much before I tore my rotor cuff. What little I did get to use it I think I’m going to like it. Casts pretty nice, I did manage a couple of birds nests, carry a pic. Think its going to work out, trouble is I’m going to be kind of handicapped for this next season recovering from surgery.

We don’t use the phone much and went with the track phone that wall mart carries. No monthly fee. For a hundred and twenty dollars we got 1000 minutes and a year to use them, if you run out of minutes you purchace more which also extends your year contract. If you lose the phone or it gets damaged and quits your minutes are gone. Have had it for about six months and no problems so far. When we bought the phone it was a double minute plan and as long as you have that phone the next time you buy minutes they well be doubled also. We each got a phone so it was 240 dollars but six months of no phone bills and I’ve still got 800 minutes, the Mrs. isn’t doing that well but still has 500 or so. Working out well so far. Also no roaming charges, good anywhere in the country. They own no tower but lease from all the towers.

I’d like to second that. Jame’s, in my opionion is every bit as good if not better than any fishing show out there. When you see him on the water he is always friendly, polite, and helpful. He even was helpful once when I had diffculty starting my motor at the launch. Could’nt ask for a better represenative from our area, wish him all best in his career and life.

This year the snow cover makes it tough for wildlife. Every year food gathering is tough in the winter due to fall tillage. A dozen years ago I went organic for many reasons not least of which was the dependence on herbicides and pesticides for the control of weeds and insects. I truly believe that our inability to carry a decent pheasent population is directly related to the use of herbicides and pesticides. After all they are poison and the pheasents as well as the rest of the wildlife live and make a living where we spray and spread this stuff. They also end up in our fishing hole.

I think I’d try to do something with driftwood. Always looks cool. Fished pool 4 today and my keeper was a nice piece of driftwood I snagged and for a few seconds had my hopes up. Did manage two in the the 22″ range, released also some very nice crappies. Pitching jigs. All fish are still swimming, brought my driftwood home.
