Chevy had a transmission shudder issue for a period of time. It felt like you were driving over rumble strips. There is a tech bulletin out on it. The fix is to flush your tranny and change to a different viscosity fluid.

A little experience with the 6.2L engine as I have owned 3 different 1/2 ton trucks with it. The early years before AFM was great. The 2014 had lifter issues right at 100k miles. I traded it for a new 2018 and that engine had issues from 3500 miles on. Lifters, camshaft, #7 cylinder bore, high pressure fuel pump, wiring harness. I believe some of the later issues may have been caused by the repair of the early issues but who knows. It was in the repair shop more than my own garage. I finally traded it last winter on a Ram 1500.
May 24, 2021 at 9:41 am #2038543Good information above. Also, I would not be afraid to venture into Kitchi. The water is a little more stained and fish during the day can be more cooperative.
April 26, 2021 at 2:45 pm #2032615I have fished the Chip Flowage for opener the last 10 years. Typically, there are quite a few boats out but there is plenty enough water that people are spread out. The only time it gets to be crazy is when there is a late ice out and everyone is congregated in the river channel…I do not foresee that as an issue this year.
March 21, 2019 at 11:20 am #1844905Trader-Looks like you have received a lot of feedback so far.
I had a 2008 GMC 1/2 ton with 5.3L. I traded in 2014 for new 6.2 w/ max tow package. In 2014 the max tow package included an extra leaf in the rear suspension and 3:73 gears. Othwerwise stock was 3:42 or 3:08. I believe the 6 speed tranny was new in 2014 as well. The towing between the 2008 w/5.3 and 2014 w/6.2 was not even comparable. Fuel mileage was typically 16 around town, 20 on the highway and 10-12 towing my 18′ glass boat. or 3 place in-line snowmobile trailer.
I just updated to a 2018 GMC with 6.2 but without max tow package. Now I have 8 speed transmission but the higher rear end differential 3:27. This truck gets better gas mileage and tows OK but not as good as the 2014. If I was to do it over, I would have gotten the 3:42 rear end in this truck (3:73 is no longer available in that configuration).Hope this helps-
May 15, 2018 at 9:45 am #1774800I had a similar issue on my DF140. I changed out the low pressure fuel filter, fuel hose and primer bulb and problem has not been back. Fairly easy fix.
If you attempt to fix yourself, Brownspoint Marine’s website has full diagrams and parts for all the Suzuki motors.
June 2, 2013 at 12:59 pm #1174972We stayed on Kitchi for the week. Windy everyday out of the Southeast. We did catch a lot of walleyes over Memorial Day weekend but then they kind of shut down. Largest fish of the week was 25 1/2″, 5 lbs. (released). We panfished one day and found a few bull gills and crappies but they have not invaded the shallows for the most part. Water temp was 53 last weekend and 62 yesterday. With the wind, we spent the whole week on Kitchi and only made it into Cass one day. Here are a couple of pics:
June 3, 2012 at 1:02 pm #1073199Along with the wind was multiple cold fronts. I fished mostly Kitchi Saturday – Saturday with a group of 4 and it took most of the week to manage a limit of walleyes. Most were 15-17″ with a couple 18-20″. We didn’t catch any really big eyes this year. Most fish were caught in 8-12′ using leeches under slip bobbers. When it warmed up on Thurday and Friday we picked a couple of eyes trolling spinners. Managed one limit of Perch from O’Neils point once the wind laid down.
May 24, 2012 at 4:00 pm #1070913I am headed to Cass on Saturday and will be fishing for the week. I will post a report when I return. If anyone has current water temps for Cass and Kitchi it would be greatly appreciated.
May 24, 2011 at 11:55 am #968501Great report. I will be there next week chasing walleyes and hoping the wind doesn’t blow. Did you guys run into any perch?
June 30, 2010 at 3:18 pm #883680Found quite a few bucket mouths in Kitchi & Pug Hole while gill fishing a few week’s ago.
December 22, 2009 at 12:36 pm #825539Way to get on them Wazman….why don’t you post some pics of your catch??
June 5, 2009 at 7:07 pm #781784We didn’t perch fish much on Cass too windy most of the week and we needed worked most of the week trying to catch our limit of walleyes.
May 20, 2009 at 11:41 am #778227Excellent report…I’ll be up May 23-30 as well. Probably will do most of my fishing on Kitchi targeting walleyes and crappies. I’ll try to post a report when I return.
May 15, 2009 at 3:22 pm #777009I haven’t had an opportunity to fish Pool 4 yet, but I get out on Pool 8&9 quite often. Miss River fishing is great, but seems takes some getting used to always fighting the current.
I’ll post a report in early June.May 15, 2009 at 11:36 am #776934Good luck Tom! I sure miss fishing the Little & Big Bay since I have moved to Southern Wisconsin. The tradeoff has been excellent fishing on the Miss. River.
Let us know how your opener went!
April 13, 2009 at 11:16 am #767915Fishing was extremely slow this weekend. Through just about everything in the tackle box at them. Finally went up and trolled some spinners by the IA river with still no luck. Water temps were 40 – 42 in current areas and 45 in slack water areas. Need to wait a few weeks before the trolling bite will turn on.
April 9, 2009 at 6:54 pm #767146Thanks for the welcome…Not a true Yooper, as I grew up across the river from Iron Mountain. Now reside in Viroqua and just starting to figure out this little walleye factory you guys call the Miss. River. It’s a little different then fishing the northern lakes. My dad is coming down this weekend and we are going to try our luck…not sure what technique to start with but it is probably going to include a jig/minnow combination, since that is what I know.
