The sun and high winds today are changing ice conditions fast in the north land. The attached satellite picks from today and yesterday (although fussy) show a big difference in ice color. I was on the “no way leech will be open” train but I have some optimism now!!

January 10, 2017 at 9:05 pm #1664327A buddy of mine had this happen and it was the sail switch. Furnace fix-it guy said it over heated from poor air intake.
January 5, 2017 at 8:02 pm #1662762That’s terrible news!! Now I have to check it all the time. Sweet drill though.
December 24, 2016 at 10:12 pm #1659524I finally got to use my new K-drill with the Milwaukee fuel 18V, all I can say is, sweet!! I didn’t time it but in 10″ of ice im sure it was way less then 10 seconds. The brake shock I had when I played with it in the house wasn’t even noticeable on the ice. I couldnt do that with the Ion I had (for maybe a week)The reverse cleans the hole and the thing is so light. I don’t have the Clam plate and cant see a reason to have it. I’ve even been able to use the drill to work on some fish houses. I think it was a good purchase.
December 18, 2016 at 9:41 pm #1658079A guy I know had 5 bucks come into a cut corn field and they had all lost there head gear. The cold weather up here (walker) I think promoted early antler drop. Love the “Live from the tree” stuff. You must have a heater body suit
December 10, 2016 at 8:36 am #1656038well I hope it is normal and like Phil said shouldn’t be so bad under a load. Cant wait to use it.
December 7, 2016 at 8:42 am #1655157We have some ice making weather coming near Walker,,, so they are saying. Hope it even colder then they predict.

December 3, 2016 at 6:26 pm #1654373Thanks guys, I made my order today. Looking forward to using it to check early ice among other uses.
November 15, 2016 at 7:40 pm #1650847Thanks for the link Bigwerm, its a great read and some good recopies to try.
Randy that’s a deer stand!! would make an all day sit much easier, if one could stay awake.
November 2, 2016 at 10:10 am #1648460I hear you man!! Looks like it starts to cool down mid November but not sure if it will cool enough to make ice.
October 26, 2016 at 8:03 pm #1647304I got an Ion last season due to all the great reviews. I drilled one whole and sold it. Now I did buy a 10″ bit and most will say now that it is under powered for the 10″ which is the case. It was slow and sticky. I honestly knew on the first whole I drilled with it that I made a mistake. Might be a better auger with a 6″ or an 8″ but it cost me $100 to find out for my self. Also had a Jiffy pro and it was fine, cut well and started great but with an extension and a 10″ bit the thing was too heavy for me. I have been using the SM Honda lite and think its great. Lite, cuts fast and very little fumes. I have 3 of them now. (I rent fish houses) With that said I did blow one up last year but warranty took care of it. So we will see how they hold up but starting, cutting and the weight is awesome. I will also add that it re-opens great.
June 24, 2016 at 10:19 pm #1626249Thanks for the update Tom. I’ll be traveling from Indiana to Leech staying at a resort in Steamboat Bay on July 8th through the 16th. My hope is to pattern some <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Walleye and Pike fishing. Was thinking about crawlers/leeches & bobbers in the weeds, as well as dragging jigs around the edges of weeds and dropoffs (if I can find them). Maybe some rapalas, too.
Well the shiners were starting to die quickly so I have made the switch to rigs with leeches and crawlers for the most part. The good news is they work just as well. You will have lots of opportunity near your location for all you mentioned.

Do you have a favorite type of jig when fishing in the weeds?I don’t, I just use an 1/8 round head. I would guess there are better jigs for weed fishing though. However I don’t drag a jig and try to keep it up out of the weeds.
June 6, 2016 at 7:43 am #1623082I did fish but not the tourney but looks like a lot of fish were caught.
May 12, 2016 at 2:36 pm #1619289All good stuff. I would like to add if you plan on fishing into the dark. Your navigation lights need to go on at sunset. Not when you think it’s dark enough. And if you don’t have working lights – get off the water before sunset.
Very good point!!
February 21, 2016 at 7:05 pm #1601367I purchased an Ion early this season. I used it early to check ice and it was decent for that. I then got a 10″ bit,,,,,,, didn’t even get all the way thru the first hole and I knew why they don’t sell the auger with the 10. It would bind and stick. there is not enough power to turn the larger bit. Cut maybe 3 holes with and it had to go. Very disappointing. If you are looking to buy the ion to use with a 10″ bit don’t do it. It cost me $150 to find this out.
January 19, 2016 at 7:30 pm #1593935There were guys on here looking for a deal on an Ion?? make me an offer. I am only selling because it just doesn’t cut fast enough for me as I have 7 houses to maintain. Im already eating a big loss at the price I have listed.
November 16, 2015 at 10:56 am #1577460May I ask who did your carpet and wood? Thanks

November 16, 2015 at 10:55 am #1577459What is the total length, from the tip of the tongue to the back of the outboard? The only reason I’m asking, is to make sure if I decide to pursue this nice rig, that it fits in the garage where I have my boat now. Thank you for your time.
I have it in a 24ft dome garage and it just fits.
November 15, 2015 at 9:10 pm #1577350I want this boat to be sold sooner then later and I am open reasonable offers. Spring its back up to asking price.
October 14, 2015 at 5:55 pm #1571110Bump for picks. Also want to add that they don’t make them like this anymore, Wide carpeted gunnels, this boat is more side to side stable then my new warrior

August 28, 2015 at 6:53 pm #1562655Tom,
Do you have a picture of the steel frame?I don’t yet but they are tube outside and angle cross members. Frames are also square and a full 8ft without wheel wells.
