Wowzers them are some nice pigs.. I wish I could figure out the river over here by Redwood Falls. I know there are some nice Eyes in here but they are not in the places or going after the same stuff I used up on the Red Lake River.. I am having a tough time getting aquainted to this new water. Maybe I might just get a an email with some tips and new things to try over here.

I did for a while but now that it is starting to freeze I will have to wait and start all over again if the ice gets thick enough.

The hard part is finding a place to get in the water around here.. Very low waters all over. I have not been able to find any more than 12 feet of water.

yes, we catch them from shore. The ticket for catching them is knowing when they are running back to the river after spawning. You have a bout a 4-5 day window each spring. My guess it will be done Wednesday or Friday. After pike spawn up the river they follow the shallows and edges of the channels back to the lake. Being in the right spot at the right time with yummy vittals will reward the angler with beauties like that. Frozen Ciscos or smelt or even sucker minnows will work but I have MUCH better luck with bait I bring with me. That day, we got many more fish than all the other fishermen on the docks and jetty. We set up Catfish rigs and fish on the bottom or even corking just off the bottom. Trick is casting out to the edge of the channel. LOW is so very low this year, it was tough finding the magic depth they were feeding in. Weed lines and channel edges near rivers or creeks where Pike go up to spawn.

    Good luck and happy fishing.

I still have a few sinkers but I am still waiting for my brother to bring back my mold so I can start pouring…

I would like for you to come over this summer.. bring that big boat and we can put it in the Red south landing and get some real fish slime in that rig.. The rivers over here are open and just waiting for me to test them out but with the mud in the landings and Huge ice chunks, it will be a while.. The DNR is not real quick on cleaning them for us over here.

Hummmm. I got water shooting out of the pump jet, so it appears to be working. some how the water is mixing with the oil, from somewhere. Each year I winterize the motor, perhaps if water is getting in the lower unit, how come it is blowing out the exhaust? Right below the motor where the two exhaust holes are.

getting ready question for ya… I have a 1992 Merc. 9.9, took it out of the basement today and put it on the boat and in a garbage can full of water to run it for a bit. Well, I got this milky oil and water looking stuff running down the back of the motor where the exhaust comes out. What is up with that? Any ideas?

Im pretty sure it is gone for good.. We left it on the back of the truck at the boat landing.. Some one had to come over and take it off the truck.. pretty sure no one will turn that in after that.. Pretty bad when you cant trust people any more. I would never think of taking something off a truck like that.. Pretty sad.

I called up to the resorts and asked them to keep an eye out for some one that may have turned it in. It is a Samsung Mini DV cam corder and didgital camera all in one. It is a package deal worth about $1000. So please if any one knows or hears of some one finding this please pass it on.

sweet fish.. I wish we would have had that kind of luck.. We went up Sunday and got stuck in that blizzard way out by Garden.. Worked our way back to Pine area for the evening bite and out of 6 of us we only kept 14 fish. We did manage to loose three heavy fish all day… That storm did not help us out at all.

Good job. Thats what keeps you going back.

Sleep, heck I can sleep after I am dead.. … I almost kept that big Gill and had it mounted.. but I figured he may grow a bit more and then I will mount him. He would look real good mounted next to my 44 1/2″ Pike, 13# Walleye. Hummm Might have to go back soon..

Ya, Jeff, I know the spot and it was a good time.. If you ever get caught up give me a ring ahead of time so I am not working and we are off. Did I mention it was a real blast.
