We made a trip to the river this past weekend looking for some Walleyes. We fished Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Spent the first 3 hrs. Sat. vertical jigging the break line on the main channel. Nothing there. Decided to go pitch some jigs along rip rap. We followed your advice and found rip rap with deep water close by. Within 15 minutes we started catching Walleyes and Crappies. We caught fish all the way untill dark. It was a blast. Sunday morning we fished the same area but only caught a couple. Overall it was an excellent trip. Thanks for all the fishing reports and tips. It works.

Hey RiverEyes, I appreciate your “plan” for pool 4. The detailed reports that you and others give on this site is excellent! Last fall I went to pool 4 in November to give it a try. The reports I had been reading were talking about several different techniques that were working for catching Walleyes. I was pretty familiar with vertical jigging and pitching jigs so I chose 3-Ways with crankbaits. I had never fished with a 3-Way before so I read the articles about it and asked a question or 2. I was suprised to find out that you troll upstream. Any way I drove to Everts Resort, picked up some required tackle and after a quick how to lesson from Steve I was ready to give it a shot. I went up below the Y and started trolling. I bet it wasn’t 1 minute after my sinker hit the bottom and I had a nice 18 inch Walleye. I ended up catching 7 that afternoon that way. I had a blast. So thanks to all of you who give your detailed reports. Keep them coming, it works!!

Does Mahkwa Lodge have a website? Can you bring your own boat? It seems like what I hear about Lac Seul is that the “good” fishing is 50 miles from anywhere and you need a big boat to fish it. What is your take on it?

Try a new plug, try draining and replacing ALL the fuel.
If you want to check the compression but dont have the tool you can squirt a little oil down the cylinder. This will increase the compression if the cylinder is washed down (flooded). You only need a little bit of oil, dont use too much.
