Thanks for all the info guys. I’ve been working on my mouth calls on my 45 minute ride to and from work. I feel like I’m getting better except for the cluck. That’s not working for me but I’ll keep trying. We have 250 private acres so competition isn’t an issue. We’ve seen birds roosting in the fall. And we’ll get up there and scout a few times before our season. Threw a few rounds through the barrel to pattern the guns. Think we found our favorite shell.

Yep. Even if the Gophers weren’t playing the Final Five was a packed house. This conference sucks!!
January 29, 2014 at 5:49 pm #1384323Frabill stowaway. Folds up flat fits in some storage compartments.
January 22, 2014 at 7:08 pm #1381933I’ve got 2 rods for pulling spinners. Both are MH one is very stiff throughout the whole blank. The other has a soft tip but loads up very nice. On the stiff tip I use 10# mono. On the softer one I use 10# sufix 832.

One thing to remember is that most fishing shows generally don’t get paid to produce the shows, they are paid to promote their products. Lindner’s have always had a strong sponsorship with Rapala, Lund, and Mercury and therefore their show reflects those sponsorships. They switched from Shimano to Quantum a couple years ago, but generally, they remain strong in their sponsors. I feel they do a great job in their shows of how to explain the subtle things that go along with their products.
I don’t see anyone on this site complaining that IDO has too many sponsors ads, or that James pimps his Ice Force gear.
I think most of us would love to have full sponsorships from all the good companies and be able to fish full time- I know I do!
I agree. Ido is the only show I really watch anymore. But look at how things change. We went from custom jigs and spins and thorne bros to vmc and tucr. Summer shows we started seeing loomis instead of St. Croix. I wish I had the talent to have people paying me and giving products to use. But ultimately that’s why we have these shows. So companies can sell there product. Now me I use dh custom rods a vexilar a jiffy and a frabill shack. I don’t really fit in around here with all the sponsors.
January 16, 2014 at 9:32 am #1380224Maybe he can catch on over at The Ticket. Maybe he could go head to head against Paul Allen. I’d tune in to Dubay over PA. But I’m not a big fan of PA.
January 12, 2014 at 7:31 pm #1379257Sufix 832 advanced leadcore. I’ve been running the 12# for 2 seasons I’ve had no issues with the lead poking through that you’ve probably heard and are asking about. I can get 10 colors on my Daiwa 27’s and the sink rate is much better then the other stuff out there. I’ve found that at 2 mph it really is at 7′ per color. I use a small swivel to attach the leader which might be why I haven’t had any of the issues some others had stated. Good luck.

For Cabelas. Make your order on line and have it shipped to the store. Pick up. Take to car. Check items. If a return is needed, take the item in and they will refund on the spot.

This will soon be a prime option for me once the Cabelas in Woodbury is completed!

January 5, 2014 at 1:09 pm #1376974I switched from Makita to Bosch this year. Love them so far. I got the 18v lithium drill and 1/2 impact. And a small 12v impact driver that gets more use then anything else in my garage. Love the compact size for the light duty stuff and space restricted things.
December 27, 2013 at 7:42 pm #1374598Remember that time the Vikes snuck into the playoffs and….well atleast they made the playoffs. I’m sure they get trophies for participating.
December 25, 2013 at 8:23 pm #1374184If you plan on running the sufix 832 lead. Stick with the 27’s. I’ve got 10 colors of 12# spooled up on mine.
December 14, 2013 at 2:36 pm #1371320Family vacation. I have to say Appeldoorn’s. I had to beg and plead with the fw to vacation at Mille lacs. But she didn’t think anything was kid friendly enough. Finally talked her into it got some recommendations from other guys with my problem. Now I think it’s her favorite spot for a family fishing vacation. And we’ve been to places like treeland on the Chip. Huddles and northland on leech and four seasons on Winnie. Our kids are young 5&3. No pool but the beach is fantastic. Just my .02

X2. You need to charge these batteries every couple of months even when not in use. And charge them each time after using whether it’s a day or weekend.November 17, 2013 at 4:37 pm #1364590Before I bought my DH custom ice rods. I used cabelas XML ice rods. I had 2 St. Croix premiers which were fine too but I liked the handles on cabelas rods better. Worth a look anyway.
November 8, 2013 at 12:14 am #1204655Well hopefully they’ll be in this weekend for one last go of it.
November 1, 2013 at 7:54 pm #1203426The one dock is still in. Kinda wish it wouldn’t have been. Terrible day out there today. This river owns me. Next year I gotta find one of you Croix pros to show me around. I trolled jigged rigged. Even pulled out blades all to no avail.
September 24, 2013 at 12:18 am #1196430Moores lodge on leech. Get you close to the big eyes in walker bay. And just as close to the stony, pine point areas.
September 19, 2013 at 5:53 pm #1195827I would lean towards the 8’6″ med light it’ll be strong enough for eyes and soft enough for crappies

The only good thing with Sears anymore is the return policy on their hand tools.
Very true and I like most of my craftman tools. But I’ve replaced my 1/4 inch ratchet 3 times in the last few months. To the point where I’m looking at Snap on Mac or SK just so the thing lasts awhile.September 18, 2013 at 6:22 pm #1195648Quote:

Best batteries I’ve ever run, not to mention they come with an 18 month warranty
X2July 27, 2013 at 12:39 am #1165674What kind of leadcore? Sufix 832 or other? I use the 12# 832 which says 7′ per color at 2mph. I run 10 colors because without a kicker I can only run as slow as 2.3-2.5 which means I’m not getting 7′ per color. I assume 5 give or take a little. Now 5 colors only gets me to 25′ which is fine in a lot of cases but if I need more depth it there. Now if you’re not running the 832 leadcore your only getting about 5′ per color at 2mph. Which means if you’re going faster then 2 you’re probably only getting 3 or so feet per color. That’s 15-20′ max probably. This is why I run all 10 colors. I can fit 10 colors of the 832 12# on Daiwa 27’s with backing which I prefer for the smaller reel. Hope this helps.

July 7, 2013 at 4:29 pm #1181978Flouro. I’d say in the 14-17# range. The flouro also helps with abrasion resistance from the clevis. For years I used 8 or 10# line and I didn’t get any less bites by switching to the heavier floro but I lose way less rigs now.
July 2, 2013 at 6:34 pm #1181387I just got some numbers from dean a few months ago and I think it’s $2300 difference.
