I usually fish in the southwest metro, and I have never seen a fish cleaning house anywhere. I’d be willing to wager there is a statue to fine me for cleaning fish on the side of the ramp, or bleeding them out in a place that will drain to the lake (this all assumes I’m catching fish, which has been a challenge so far in 2013…)

I let the hose run hard on my trees this past weekend to water the yard, and about 30 minutes later I was almost overrun by thick crawlers. Might worth a try. If I had gone around to all the parts of my yard I could have gotten 6 dozen easy (and I dont have a huge yard).

Sweet fish! Why is it though that the smallies can get such a bigger belly than the LMs seem to?

I run my 80 lbs Terrova on a 50 amp breaker because that breaker is about $45 less than the 60 amp breaker (I wish I knew why…). The manual says to run this motor on a 60 amp breaker so I don’t run it above 8.

Also, I run on two 27 series batteries and get ten hours use.

    It’s a great motor, enjoy!

How fast will that thing go, and how much does the final engine add?

Just finished pouring like crazy here in the south metro. Hopefully our oversupply can get down river where people are pretty much up a creek, without the creek… I just read an article how the lower Mississippi is 50 feet below its flood stage level of a few years ago!

So I checked the breaker, for the transom it is listed as a 40a, interestingly the one for the bow is listed as a 50a. Can I assume that going to an 80 amp on both is safe? Im going to put a Terrova 80lbs on the bow and I thought I read somewhere you needed more amps to run that motor. Thanks!!!

Why do you want to move weight forward? If your having the same problem I experienced (bow popping up so high on your hole shot that you cant see the 100 yards of water ahead of you), you should think about a hydrofoil. This was the answer for me, and cost about $70 is you install it yourself. If your trying to get more storage room that is another matter.

The “exit” trick worked, thanks for tip. I’ll work on the auto update possibility next.

Give the Frog Toggs bibbs and jacket a look (with their top of the line material – Dry Pore / Toadzskin). I fgot this last fall and it is great stuff. I think Cabelas carries that line now so it should be easy to find.

Well done! I was there on Sunday and everything we caught was solidly in the slot. Were you on a known point, or your own privately known spot?

What are you fishing for, and what region do you fish? My 5 year old out fished me last night worming for sunnies, so maybe we need to pick our target better.

I will admit that the season seems slower than last year in the metro. But, I was on Mille Lacs July 3rd, and despite a crowd we boated about 15 eyes in the 22 – 28 inch range, 6 keeper perch, and then had fun catching smallies in the rock piles.

But, that said, I was told by two people who live on Metro lakes, that in late April they had never seen a fish “winter kill” like they saw this year. I think that is impacting the bass fishing since they particularly commented that a lot of nice bass were on the shore. Dont know why…

I put a bungy net over the port side and it works awesome. On a different topic, a friend helped me this weekend to move the cranking btry tray more to the boat mid-line and turned it 90 degrees. Probably got another 1.5 cu ft of storage so now it is a great place for the throwable flotation device I never used to take with me.

Shaley and Chuck, thanks for your replies! I’ll do my best to respond.
I’ve been told these are deep cycle 12-volt batteries (brand name International), that when together make up the 24 volt system that runs the trolling motor. I have a cranking btry for the engine, but beyond that I dont know what battery options exist. What is CCA?
I also dont know what is meant by reserve time. Is that something I look up somewhere?
You ask about charger, do you want to know what kind of on-board charger I have? It is a minn kota unit (and I pretty much do leave it plugged in whenever the boat is in the garage, which is more than it is in the water), but I dont know what is meant by amps of charge, or time left on charge. Is this something I shoudl look up in the manual?

    Thanks!

Jon, thanks for your reply. I’ll do my best to respond accurately. These are 12-volt batteries that together make a 24 volt system. Is there a different way to measure battery size?
Also, I dont know what the maximizer system is?

    Thanks!

Call LaCanne’s in Fairbault, they had one.

LaCanne’s all the way. 2 years ago I shopped all around, but bought from LaCanne’s because you can trust those guys. Any boat you buy is going to have little stuff you need follow-up on and they were very responsive.

How are people doing on Tonka with the high water temps? I found it to be great through about Aug 1, but since then it has been so quiet Im thinking about waiting til September. Thoughts?
