I’ll be putting boats, docks, and lifts in the water. When that is done, I will try to do some fishing.

What is that good satellite picture website we had on here? I can’t seem to find it.
http://ge.ssec.wisc.edu/modis-today/
You can bookmark that link but if you forget and need an easy way to get there you can go though the mnlakecams.com website and there is a link on the top titled satellite that brings you to their archive of Mille Lacs pics and also has a 2nd link to bring you to the modis site.
Thank you.

April 10, 2014 at 3:02 pm #1403310I hope the Minnesota Gophers end the University of no name’s season much like they did in 2012. That was a thrashing at the X. I’m just sad I can’t be there to see it this time.

Thank you for the update and I’m glad to hear that everyone is healing well. If you ever have the desire and courage to want to take your family fishing again on Mille Lacs – I will be happy to accommodate and there will be no charge for the trip. Every family deserves a great memory of Mille Lacs.
Very kind of you Brad. Keep up the good work.
Jerry, Thank you for the update. I cannot imagine suffering burns like the ones in that picture. Good luck to you and your family on your continued recovery.

Love football season, but if they’re gonna have the Bowl fixed, may as well get it over with sooner…
WTF was that!!!!! Do you know how many people it would take to “fix” a game like that.
I was cheering for the Broncos but they just got schooled in that game.
I imagine you can tell from my screen name that I’m not a fan of either team, and I had no vested interest in it. That being said, I saw the way the game was called, I saw the intentional lack of tackling by the broncos defenders. The highest scoring offense in the history of the league doesn’t score until the 4th after its out of hand? Yeah…not buying that!
Jesse? Is that you?

I’d trade the 42,900 pounds for a closed season. No fishing – no netting!
What a complete joke.

I’m not sure area businesses would like that very much. This issue only seems to get worse year after year. How can the most managed lake in the state be in such dire straits?

The net defenders don’t often realize just how little regulation there is during the spring netting runs. How the natives treat species like northern pike with extreme prejudice. Do I think nets are the ONLY problem. No. As a matter of fact, if they were held to the same standards as the hook/line fisherman and regulated in a more stringent manner, I may even support some netting.
I hope I am not being labeled as a “netting defender.” If you watch some of the Youtube videos on the subject, you will know just what Kooty is talking about. It’s a joke to call it regulated at all at times.January 25, 2014 at 3:52 pm #1383062Quote:
Im confused by the netting rant. if netting walleyes in the problem ie, too few walleyes in the lake, then how come the existing walleyes have had a problem competing for food the last few years? In theory the exising walleyes should have had an easy time getting fat because of less competition in their niche. Still the masses rave about the nets…..
I won’t say the nets are THE reason the lake is in it’s current decline. It’s ludicrous to think that they don’t play A part though.January 22, 2014 at 4:39 pm #1381883Quote:

Agree with Bob’s comments.
I would encourage everyone who has an opinion or question on the topic to e-mail it to Don Pereira at the Minnesota DNR:

Thank jon, He left out most of my quotes…
Bob
Kinda like the DNR leaving out some pretty sigificant factors from their study I guess
Exactly. I sent my email. Thank you for providing the address.

I moved to Minnesota two years ago.
For the life of me, I cannot wrap my head around Dan Common Man Cole’s employment.
Does anybody appreciate his shtick? I find him unlistenable.
The only sport he speaks competently about is his golf game.
Add to that, his sense of humor is nonexistant. What gives?
I listen to him just about every day. Call me crazy. I get the bit and enjoy it. Especially when Rosen is on.
Not a big fan of Zulgad but did listen when Puffy was on. Never listen to Pat because he hates the only good men’s team in the state and his voice is very irritating.
December 13, 2013 at 10:39 am #1363312I’ve wondered what was going on there. I drive by that spot every day. I see a Skeeter banner hanging from the fence and a few boats under shrink wrap. What’s the deal?

SKI U MAH!!!!
Can anyone tell me what the heck that means anyway???
Go Gophers
I heard the answer on Saturday for the first time. Here is your answer:
This famous Minnesota phrase Ski-U-Mah (pronounced SKY-YOU-MAH) is more than 115 years old. In 1884, two Minnesota rugby players, John W. Adams and Win Sargent, tried to think of a fitting team yell. They used the word “Ski”, a Sioux battle cry meaning victory, and combined it with “U-Mah” (representing the University of Minnesota and rhyming with “rah-rah-rah”) to create a team cheer. The phrase stuck and was incorporated into both official school songs, “Hail Minnesota” and more commonly in the “Minnesota Rouser.”
And for the record – it’s “Gold Country”, not Gopher Nation. Basement Brew stepped on that tradition, among others.
November 11, 2013 at 11:43 pm #1205296The only thing you are missing is the GPS coordinates in the ad. I think it is Golden Valley. But yeah, palm trees is wierd.

Shouldn’t you be in Dinkytown? Are you fishing at all this weekend?

Got hooked right away with season 1. In some ways I miss the earlier seasons. There were some good laughs along the way. The violence really cranked up last season and looks to continue. Still a huge fan
For those that watch, I miss Piney. Every once in a while he threw a curve ball that cracked me up.
Piney and his boy Opie too.
