Why would you need them unless you are back trolling. Which I can’t imagine why you would need or want to do that in 238.
You definitely don’t have to be back trolling to see a benefit. (But they are awesome in that application, and I do LOVE my Vantage.)
If you’re using your boat in the rough stuff, which I sure hope you are if you’re running a 238 lol, they make a big difference in how much water you’re going to take over the stern when you’re drifting, landing a fish, or even when trolling with the waves.
If you’re like me, and you like to fish from the back platform, you WILL have waves wash over the back of the boat if it’s rough enough, especially with another guy or two in the cockpit area. At the very least, you will get splashed and probably have wet feet, there’s always a rogue wave that hits at just the right angle…
With the Wave Wackers, it has to be pretty “western” before that’s an issue. They’re a must have in my world.
Waxy
Congrats on the 238!
They are very impressive boats. I really need to get out in one and experience them for myself one of these days.
Which outboard did you go with?
I put the V10 350 on my 208. There’s a few quirks to getting it setup, but I’ve been very happy with it. Incredible power and much better fuel economy than I was expecting.
Waxy
I ALWAYS put them on my 208s, I can’t imagine being without them.
I guess it depends on how you use your boat, but I can’t see why the 238 would be any different.
Waxy
The information that Warrior will not offer a hull warranty on boats with a Drotto is kinda right.
From what I’ve been told, they will not repair any damage around the front anchor eye bolt or along the leading edge of the bow, or any other damage deemed to be related to use of a Drotto latch, under warranty. They’re seeing far too many boats come in damaged. They strongly advise against the use of the Drotto latch, and if you choose to install one, you use it at your own risk.
As far as I know, any other defects in the hull would still be covered under warranty.
Waxy
Here’s a couple pics of the Wave Wackers on a 208. I wish I had some better pics of them. Note to self. Mike has improved the design over the years, the ones on my 2022 are a much better fit and more solid than the very first prototypes he made me for my 2016.
I definitely prefer the Wave Wackers to the White Caps.
Waxy
I’ve had them on every Warrior I’ve owned, including the last two 208s. I wouldn’t be without them, especially for the way I fish.
If you only troll forward, or don’t go out in the real rough stuff, there’s probably not a huge benefit. If you’re ever trying to back troll or hover with a Vantage, or it’s really hairy and you want to be able to fish on the back platform, they’re priceless.

On long trips I trailer with my Dowco cover on. Have no visible signs of marking on my boat, and no issues with the cover. I have a dual counsel with wind shield and I get 1-2 mpg better with the cover on than with it off.
X2.
I have my Dowco cover on for anything more than a quick 1/2 mile, low speed, trip to the launch. I ALWAYS tow with it if I’m going any distance at all. I don’t have any rubbing or marks, and the tarp is still in excellent shape after 1000s of miles of towing in all kinds of weather.
Get it right, cinch it down tight, and it works beautifully.

If the OP is still looking, I’d suggest the Elite FS. Best bang for the buck on the market IMHO.
With the Active Imaging 3in1 transducer you get excellent 2D, DI, and SI.
Touch screen, excellent built in maps, social maps, live mapping, the ability to network multiple units via Ethernet, and maybe biggest of all, fully compatible with Active Target live sonar down the road.

It going to put your live unit in a legacy mode! Networking with an undated Carbon will work! This is actually not true…
The HDS Live will work fine as long as it is a gen 3 touch. It will share sonar AND 3 in 1. But I would use the Gen 3 for mapping and 2D and not side imaging. The processor cannot keep up.
Its a Gen 2 touch and older that causes a Live unit to go into Legacy mode.
I have done what the OP is trying to do and had no problems other than side scan being laggy on the Gen 3 but that should be expected.
This is correct, as long as the Gen 3 unit is running the latest software, it will share 2D, SI, DI, and mapping. BUT, you’re best to use the Gen 3 as the secondary or “slave” unit, because like was said, it’s doesn’t have the computing power to keep up.
Be aware that once you update the Gen 3 to the latest software, it will no longer play nice with any older models.

Looking for a manual switch to connect 2 Navco 3-1 transducers to 1 Lowrance Elite ti2 unit . any suggestions
Unfortunately, I don’t think it can be done.
There was a switch available back in the day, and you might be able to find one, but they’re limited to 7 pin systems, so no SI or DI.

The genesis live mapping is saved onto the SD card in your locator, any time you turn on the overlay, it’ll all be there.
The files you uploaded will be used to create a separate map you that you have to download onto a microSD card and put into your locator. If you didn’t sign up for a paid account, those sonar logs you uploaded will be added to the Social map, and integrated with all of the other sonar data that has been uploaded for that waterbody. You can then download that Social Map to your locator. You’ll also have access to them individually, and I *think* you have the ability to merge them with a free account, but I’m not sure. I know that with the paid account, you can select any or all of the files you’ve uploaded and have them merged into a single map that only you will have.
Hopefully that helps.
Waxy
If you’re not already using it, you need to get on it ASAP!
The CMAP Genesis website is very good, it’ll walk you through signing up for an account and how to download the maps. Some lakes have amazing coverage, some are kinda spotty, but it’s FREE. You can even customize the depth shading. If you got to the Lowrance YouTube page, they have some very good videos on there explaining the process as well.
The genesis live mapping is as simple as putting a blank microSD card into your unit, going to your charts menu, and selecting genesis live from the Overlay menu. Drive around and you’re mapping, the more ground you cover and the more thoroughly you cover it, the better your map will be. The genesis live mapping doesn’t share between units, so each unit on the network must be on and have the genesis live overlay option turned on in order to create a map.
Waxy
The Hook Reveal units cannot be networked, they are standalone units. They do not have ethernet, NMEA2000, or bluetooth capability.
Waxy
Same hull as far as I know.
The top cap should be essentially the same as well, but I’m sure there’s minor differences in the dash panels, seats, stuff like that.
I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me will get you an more definitive answer.
Waxy
It’s likely a grounding issue. I’ve had it happen to various degrees when using a portable battery pack.
Try operating the touch screen using your 9AH battery while you’re touching the negative terminal with the other hand.

The new Active Target will be compatible with HDS Live, HDS Carbon, and the new Elite FS. Looks like it’s the real deal, the video images are pretty amazing. Retail is $1499 USD, so likely around $2000 all in in Canada. I better start saving my pennies…
They also announced the new Elite FS series to replace the Elite TI2. The Elite FS will be compatible with Active Target live sonar, gets a full pinch to zoom touch screen, and is now fully networkable with Ethernet. It’ll be the best bang for the buck sonar unit out there.

Just ordered a 193 with 200 Merc, which is due Feb. I’ve got a few questions and hope the experience of you folks will help me. Thanks in advance….
1. Carpet – my unit comes with snap in carpet. My dealer is recommending that I do not have the snaps installed in the floor as they may break off causing problems, and he says the snaps are uncomfortable on your feet when the carpet is not installed. What is your experience / recommendations.
2. Kicker – I am not ordering it with a kicker, but will install one soon after purchase. I’m considering a tiller type, without remote controls. In my previous boat I simply locked the kicker in place, set the speed, and steered with my TM. I’m looking to do the same. I Plan to provide fuel from the spare connection on the water separator. And concerns with this idea? Any recommendations?
3. Kicker tilt/trim – tell me about manual vs. ele. start, and power tilt-trim. Are these functions available on a tiller without remote controls. Do I need either or both? On my previous boat I had to lean over the rear transom to lift the kicker. I’ll be 64 and this concerns me. Would electric start be powered off starting battery? Ideas/ recommendations appreciated.
4. Electronics – will be installed after delivery. I’m leaning toward Garmin. I’ve been told that shoot-thru-the-hull transducers offer advantages of marking at higher speed without problems of getting knocked around. Airmar model ??? was the unit recommended.
Thoughts on this set up?5. Transducer board – should I have one installed for future purposes?
6. Marine radio & antenna – where should these be mounted? I’m looking at 8’ antenna, or can I get away with shorter?
7. What am I missing? This is my retirement boat and my last one. Previous boat was 18’6” Starcraft.
I realize there’s a lot here. If you think a phone call would be better I can provide my number. Thanks to all. Mike.
First, congrats on the boat, you will LOVE it.
1. I agree with your dealer. I think I’ve used my carpet maybe twice, and for the amount of time it’s in there, it’ll stay in place and do it’s job just fine without the snaps. I would opt to delete the carpet like Dean mentioned on my next one. I’m torn on the aqua traction, it’s nice, but in my opinion at least, the jury is out on long term durability, and it’s not cheap. I’ve got the desert sand interior, and yeah, all interiors get hot when it’s 90F out, but it’s not that bad. I’m not a barefoot in the boat guy though.
2/3. As others have said, get a Pro Kicker with power trim and tilt. The power trim and tilt are critical, it just makes using the kicker SO much more enjoyable and it means you’re far more likely to use it. Same with the EFI, effortless starting and idling is a real pleasure. I’ve had a tiller style mounted on my last two boats and wouldn’t go any other way. Add a iTroll unit for speed control and you’re set. If you want to get real high tech, add a PowrTran Python remote steering system for the absolute best and easiest in boat control.
4. A glassed in transducer is definitely nice to have and the factory does a great job. You’ll always have a reliable source for depth, and they’re far less finicky when trying to maintain a bottom reading at high speed. That said, a properly setup transom mount will hold bottom at full speed no problem, and their are better quality options available, ie Airmar.
5. YES. Get two of them, one on each side.
6. I know nothing about marine radio lol.
7. – Rod holders. You might want to think about having rails or tracks installed, or possibly a Slider Trax system from extrememax.com for rod holders, tool holders, cup holders, etc… I don’t troll the great lakes, so I went with rails and the Slider Trax. I’m very happy with my setup, but I’d probably go with tracks if I was a hardcore troller, especially on the great lakes.
– Ski pole. Even if you don’t think you’ll use it much, it can’t be installed after the fact, so I would advise having it installed as part of the build. You will easily make your money back on resale, and you can take the kids or grandkids for a ride on the tube when the fishing is slow.
– I’ve got the Fishini bimini top from Dowco, and it’s a really nice option to have on those hot summer days.
– Give some thought to upgrading to a Captain’s chair for the driver, they are so much more comfortable and secure, they’re worth every penny in my opinion. – Rear deck seat base is a must have for me.
– Splash guards/wave wackers. They’re another must have for me, but that depends on your fishing style.
– The new upgraded Warrior (Dowco) travel cover is the best cover I’ve ever used. SUPER easy and fast to put on/take off, excellent fit, and it’s very durable.
– I don’t have them, but you might want to think about trailer steps. They do make it far easier to get in and out of the boat.
– A rock/gravel guard if you do a fair bit of towing. I swear by the Trailer Tux, it’s the best option available in my opinion
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, but I just spent a lot of your money with that list LOL.

Congrats. They’re called the “King of Tiller Boats” for a reason!

Hi Waxy,
We don’t have any Ontario Warrior dealers. I told the wife as soon as our dollar is stronger , you’d better expect a WX2060 or Warrior v208 in the driveway. HAHAHA!
They’re working on that, they’d like to have some dealers setup in MB and ON.
In the meantime, you can try Anchor Marine in Swift Current, SK, a couple of the dealers just across the border from you, or send Dean Marshall right here on IDO a message and I’m sure he’ll treat you right.
Waxy
Man.. that would be an awesome Erie boat!
This thing would be over 200,000 here in Ontario!! I got a quote for a v208 last year and it was 185,000 before takes and the addons!
Holy!
Who’s your dealer?
You need to shop around. That price is absolutely out to lunch!
A few pics of my 2020 208. I really need to get some better pics lol.

Found them !! Thanks for the great ideas.
Excellent.
Sorry for not getting back to you right away, I was out hunting and didn’t have much for cell coverage.
Love the modifications. Where did you purchase the accessories to use with the trax? I can find the slider trax on their website but am having a difficult time finding the accessories to go into the trax. Am most interested in the holder you show that holds the pliers, etc.
Thanks
The tool holder is from Rapala. It’s screwed onto the slider trax base.

The stainless cup holders are OEM Warrior.

I’ve had the Terrova, then an Xi5, then another Terrova, then back to the Xi5.
I thought I’d really miss the LCD screen on the remote, but I’m like Chris, I didn’t miss it at all. There’s a display on all my sonar screens if I NEED to know, but all I’m generally ever concerned about is my speed and direction. Speed I get from my sonar units no matter where I am in the boat, and direction is simply looking at the trolling motor. I don’t care whether I’m on 1 or 10, or what percentage power, or battery power, or whatever else is on the remote, that’s all pretty irrelevant to me.
I absolutely hated the remote on the new generation Terrova. The button placement was so unnatural and awkward. I found I had to constantly look down to be able to press the right button, and even after an entire season, I found myself getting mis-clicks all the time.
The XI5 remote has such an easy and intuitive layout that I never look down at it, it’s automatic. I’m watching the sonars, the motor, and the rods.
From what I’ve seen of the Lowrance remote, it looks and is laid out a lot like the XI5.
The new Ghost looks awesome, there’s a ton to like about it, but until the next generation Ghost comes out with a 72″ shaft and loses the cable steer, I’ll likely stick with the XI5.

I think the move to either the 203 or the 208 would be a pretty significant upgrade for you when it comes to a big water fishing boat. Both will ride better and track better when trolling, and both will give you a lot more interior room and storage.
The console on the 208 is further back. There’s slightly less room behind the windshield and more room in the bow vs. the 203.
Other major differences between the two other than the jump seats is that the 203 has a raised cooler and baitwell in the bow vs flush in the floor on the 208, and the livewell is side mounted on the 203 vs center mounted on the 208. Other than that, they’re pretty much the same boat with only minor differences.
I’ve had both, and I prefer the 208 layout for the way I fish (lots of jigging, live bait rigging, and casting, with trolling being about 1/3 of my fishing). For someone like yourself that’s a hard core troller, the 203 might be the better option, there is a TON of room behind the windshield. The 203 will likely be a little less money as well.
As far as the Yamaha 350, it is NOT available on the 203 or the 208. It’s not the HP that’s the problem, it’s the size and weight of the V8 Yamaha. The max. HP for the Yamaha is the 300. In order to get 350 HP, you have to go Mercury Verado or Suzuki.
Waxy
Carter,
You don’t need anything in terms or wires or cables to share the 2D sonar and mapping, as well as waypoints, trails, etc… Those are all shared wirelessly.
One thing you need to know up front, is that the Elite TI2 units are NOT capable of sharing DI/SI between units. You would only be able to view the SI/DI on the console unit connected to the 3in1.
You’ll need an adapter cable to convert the transducer from the Terrova to connect to the Lowrance.
Waxy
Thanks for all the comments really appreciate it
Would there be another ladder option with a kicker and talon set up?
My other concern would be the added weight of every thing on the back and keeping the bow mount in the water on windy days. Had a 18’ aluminum boat with a kicker it sat at such an angle with any wind it was always coming out. I ended up selling it and found a Wx2000t love the boat but just not handy for towing kids around. The ropes rub really hard on the vantage and if I just go to one side I’m limited to right turns or I’m rubbing the fiber glass
Don’t really troll that much anymore but when we do I just don’t want to fight it thanks again
If you don’t have the ski pole option, the rope and float system works OK. I used to just take the Vantage off quickly when I was towing the kids that way. 5 mins spent taking it on and off was worth it. That’s a really good option for you, just take the Vantage off and hang a ladder in that space, even a simple rope ladder would be all it takes.
Now that I have the ski pole and I don’t need to take the Vantage off, I experimented with some options, including one of the portable ladders that hooks over the side. In the end, the kids found the easiest thing to do was just use the big motor and the kicker as ladders and pull themselves out that way. They’re still pretty young, 10 and 12, so it’s easy for them and they’re pretty light, they’re not putting much stress on anything. It’s the least stressful for me too, no chance of one of the ladders scratching the boat.
I wouldn’t worry about the extra weight of the kicker. It won’t affect the 193/198 and how it sits in the water, they always sit nice and flat. I would highly recommend going with a 72″ shaft trolling motor though. The bow on the Warrior is pretty high and has a lot of flare, if you fish a lot in windy conditions, you’ll never regret having that extra foot to keep the prop in the water. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I’d never go back to a 60″ shaft.
