I agree with you Duckilr!!! You’re right, that’s a heck of a haul even if it took a guy 10 lifetimes. But realistically, since they don’t look rotten, they must have all been from the same area at roughly the same time.. Very impressive.

Anybody who thinks this “Iowa” story is true has GOT to be wearing blinders.. I count 7 or 8 bucks in this box, no way from a square mile on the same day or even in the same weekend.. And surely not on the same drive.. I’ll keep my $ on that story, not buying it.

I’m not saying that point counting is the perfect solution. It may not be the best idea, but it has some say. I think they brought up the idea for the Lac qui Parle area a while back but I didn’t hear anything more on the subject.. Has anyone heard of any sample type hunts??

4 Points or better on one side. Rule lifted for 16 and under with no party hunting on a 16 and under buck tag. It will give most young bucks a chance to reach 2 1/2.

What do you think of that one Coppertop?????????? I think Novo needs to read this so he’s not so freaked-out everytime he goes into the woods..

Heck of a story Coppertop!! I would like to hear more about this “shooter” buck someday and what happened.. My Ripley hunt was a total bust! It took 2 days after the hunt to get over it. Oh well, smokesticks to come and then……..well, muzzle.. Alltogether, 1 deer on stand in Ripley, 7 from the road (redzone) and jumped 5 on Sat afternoon.

Jarrad,, Trust me, time heals all wounds!! I went through a situation kind of like yours a few years back.. A chance of a lifetime and it didn’t go my way.. I went through a few phases in the immediate moments after the unfolding event.

    1. Denial- That didn’t really just happen to me..?
    2. Hope- Hoping for some reason he would come right back!
    3. Depression- I will never have an opportunity like that again!!
    4. Questions- Why do I do this to myself?
    5. Thoughts- Would anyone miss me if I did a swan dive off of my stand????

All of this in about 15 seconds. But like I said, time heals all wounds and I realize that situations like this will probly happen again and all a guy can do is try to best prepare yourself for the “next time”.

IF you ever need a great place to stay in Miller…. I know of a heck of a spot called “Mike’s Doghouse” A few spooky moments but good times nonetheless.
