Aqua Vu used to make a mini DVR. That is what I use. Not sure if they still make that or not. You could try this. See attachment. Seams pretty inexpensive.
Aqua-Vu 760cz is the best one to get. 3X digital zoom, camera depth and direction, water temperature & a very clear picture. It has sun shade so it viewable display & comes with heater for cold weather.
The better camera would be the most important feature then.
Anyone know which underwater camera would be best for its recorded picture (size and clarity)? I would like to add some underwater footage to a film project (1920×1080).
Is there a difference in recording quality to the cameras in the Marcum line? If not I would go the cheap route. I also noticed that Aqua-Vu has an HD camera so I would not count them out.
I have done some research but my head is spinning.
Thanks!

Do not forget to check out Canvas Craft fish houses. They make a great house! Best Thermal house on the market!

too bad they won’t be at the ice show…i didn’t see them in the exhibitors list, unless they are under a different name
Nope, I heard they were not going this year. They are trying to complete with all the companies that moved manufactoring overseas. They are still made in the USA! Nice to still know there are companies out there like them.
Canvas Craft single flip magnum with the Norpac insulation. Best & warmest house out there. Hands down! You will not regret buying one of their houses!

Nope. Marcum will not have a micro camera until they (R&D) can do it right.
How’s the image quality when transferring the video from the DVR to a computer? Just wonderun.
Oh okay.. From that other poster I thought they had one out. I have not tried the new model. I have the first gen. one. The new one appears to have some nice add on features. Have you tested it out yet? Wondering how it does compare to the first gen.

Welcome back WALLEYE444!
Doesn’t really matter if there is or isn’t an on/off switch. At 30 feet there isn’t any light anyway. Might as well be on showing the snow storm and that it’s working.
Thanks.. It is ice fishing time soon!
I am waiting for humming bird to come out with a nice handheld. I love my hunt c!

Info from Ganders website – http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Aqua-Vu-AV-Micro-Plus-Underwater-Camera-System&i=694300&aID=504C7&merchID=4006
Price seems really high considering what Marcum offers for the same price if not cheaper now… The built-in DVR feature is nice, but it adds another $100…yikes…
Does Marcum now have a micro camera? I did not see that anywhere. I will have to check there website again.

Wasn’t the snow storm problem because you couldn’t turn the lights off? Looks like they added on/off for the lights this year.
Ingy
No, the older model has an on/off switch too.
The problem with all cameras is when the light is needed it’s dark. The light hits particles in the water and reflects back to the camera. Looks like a snow storm and the camera get’s put away until daylight or used in shallower water.
Granted most cameras won’t get used in 50/60 fow like I use mine but the same thing happens when a camera is in 20/30 fow.
Keep in mind the micro is made for portability.
The first Gen. Aqua Vu Micro’s did not have the ability to turn off the IR. The new one coming out does.

So it’s time for me to upgrade from my eskimo quickflip 2 and am thinking I want to go to a full thermal 2 man house. Was just wanting to hear opinions on every manufacturer and what they like or don’t like about them.
A Canvas Craft fish house with the Norpac insulation is the house you want! You are toasty warm in a tee shirt when it is below zero. I have a Magnum Single flipover. I can fit two big guys & my kid in that one. I love it. Plus, it is made in the USA!

Joel,
After using both of them which do recommend? Like I said, I like the space of the Lodge. Is there a noticeable weight difference, especially for loading and if a guy pulls it out on the lake by hand? I want to make sure I have room for 2 guys as well.
Do not forget to take a look at the Canvas Craft Northlander ice houses. The Magnum house is their size like the Otter Lodge. I can fish two big guys & my kid.
The medium size is like the cabin of otters.
Canvas Craft’s NorpacR2 Extreme Weather Fabric insulated with 3M Thinsulate is a better material then that China material Otter uses. Plus, Canvas Craft is made in the USA!
I used to use frozen smelt all the time back home in wisconsin.

I just fished side by side with a vex and didnt have one problem with interfearance. The machines were two feet apart.
True that. I do it all the time with the vex guys.

Is anyone using these to fish with or just for checking holes? I was thinking of getting one, I think it would be nice to have something small for tourney fishing but I’d like to be able to fish with it as well and not have to haul around a big camera.
I use mine all the time. I love it. I did add the pro-snake for when I am on the fish. Then I added the mod3 pod for turning it. I am set up for portable fishing or when I am on the fish in my house. It is a great camera. It is not a full size camera & really should not be compared with a full size camera.

Briank. Here is a video off of Aqua Vu website. Looks like it was sunny out on it.

All I’m asking folks that are in the market for a camera to do is to compare them side by side in the store. They should be able to make up their own minds shouldn’t they?
As I’ve said before, there’s no arguing that it’s easy to carry around.I’ll have both the Micro (1/2 ton) and the VS-825sd (1 ton) at the G2G on the St Croix on Saturday for anyone that would like to see them, side by side in the sun light.
Talk is cheap. Let me know when you guys have something to look at.
So that is your 825 then? okay. If you ever can get your hands on a Aqua Vu 760cz or FS1000 Vexilar camera please do a write up on both. Thanks I appreciate it.
