That is the correct amount. I would guess that it is fuel related.
I would give strike master a call they will help you out.

Get the Eagle Claw straight line reel, it has the free spool, no Lind stripping.
Even with the free spooling, is an ice jig heavy enough to take line off this reel?
I think it will be,the 6061 will free spool a 3mm jig.
How much oil did you put in the motor? There is a reason i am asking, when they first came out strikemaster told you to put in 1.6 oz, of oil. They had some problems with there machines at that time, and found that there should have been 3.2 oz of 0w-20 full synthetic.
If you bought a previous years model it might be hurt already.
Check and see how much you put in and the viscosity.
I know for a fact because it happened to me,and SM stood behind the issues.

Very impressive unit with the updates complete. It did freeze up on me once in the sonar mode. Has anyone else had this happen after all updates complete?
I had that happen with the old 1.29 version,I dropped it off at Marcum and they updated me to a 1.31A.
I have not had a chance to use it yet to see if it cured it.
I will be useing it both days this weekend, hope it helps it.
LX9 and and I really like my 6061 flyreel. There was some very good products in the ice fishing world this winter.

I just bought the lx 9 and fished once then I update to version 1.29 ….went back out and It freezes twice on me. Other then those two time its working fine. Still wondering if anybody had that happen to their lx 9…
I upgraded my 7 to a 9 and mine froze up 5-6 times.
I dropped mine off at Marcum on my way home from LOTW last friday, and had it back at my house tuesday.
They updated my version to 1.31a, I have not had a chance to use it yet to see if this fixed the problem or not.
Ran mine up at LOTW all last week and had zero issues.
Drilled around 150-175 holes thru 30-36″ of ice.
I had purchased the AA suit 2 years ago. I had not used it 3 times and 3 of the zippers were bad. I had bought it from Red Rock store, and when I called them the first time they had told me to call the company that made it,so I did and they give me the run around saying I had over filled the pockets.
I then called RR back and the gentleman there told me he would take care of the problem by replacing the coat, which he did.
The next suit I buy probably will not be AA just because of there customer service.

I crack open my gas cap each time before I run my augers… any of them… just a habit I guess…
I havethe Honda 4-Stroke Lite and I do not have any issues with it… I was in -10 this past weekend.. 4 pulls and she ran like a champ…
Crack the gas cap… let us know if that solves the issue !!
This Gas cap is a bit different than I have seen before, with no vent you can open. Do you just twist it once to loosen it or take the black part all the way off?
The caps on the Hondas vent through little holes around the edge of the cap. The next time the auger bogs just give the cap a big turn and see if that doesn’t free the engine up to run up to max rpm’s. If that fixes it a new cap from SM should fix the issue.
I just took my cap off and looked at it under a magnifier and did not see any holes.
Is there suppose to be some?

Curious if anyone found a resolution to this problem. Strikemaster still has not returned my call. The new auger that Scheels swapped by “locked up” auger with is doing the same thing
Took it out on the ice for the first time today. Starts just fine but if you try to run it throttle wide open and it dies in about 3 or 4 seconds. If I only have the throttle half open, or less, it will cut very slowly. I’ll be calling SM again this week, probably daily until they answer and emailing too…. grrr…
I took mine into the shop, they drained the gas and took the carb off and cleaned it.
The shop told me that these engines are very picky on having good gas in them.Should only be running gas that is less than a month old.
I took my auger out today and drilled 25-30 holes with it,and it seems to be just fine.

Mine was doing the same thing this weekend. Up until this weekend it had been flawless.
I was able to cut a couple holes but about halfway through the ice (9″) it would bog down and die. I’d start it again and it would idle for a moment and then die. I tried starting it again and the engine locked up… completely froze up
Took the auger home, pulled the recoil cover to make sure that wasn’t the reason behind the lock up and it wasn’t. Called SM yesterday morning, left a message and still haven’t heard back from them…
I called H2 Outfitters, they said they had one come in last week with exact same symptoms, couldn’t diagnose the problem so they sent it directly back to SM. They advised I call SM directly.
I originally bought the auger through Scheels, they happened to have one Honda-Lite left in stock so they swapped me for mine. THANK YOU SCHEELS! Hope this isn’t a problem we see again.
Mine is doing the exact same thing I have it in the shop now.
I will try and post what I find out in case it happens to other people.
The 7 and 9 do take the same battery.Marcum told me to keep my battery when I sent the 7 to get it upgraded.
I would like to see a bigger(more AH’s)battery, the 9 seems to eat the battery more then I am used to.

I’m impressed! In the busiest part of the ice fishing season, new product roll-out, and immediately following Christmas…you had the nerves of steel to send your unit in for an upgrade instead of waiting to the “off season”. Wow,
Well when I first emailed them they had told me it would be the first of November!
So I sold my 625 SD so I could upgrade.
When we fished there it was -30 and -45 WC,we had our 1 lb tanks freeze up, so we had to use our 20 lber with a sun flower heater.
Also the horn stuck on in one of the trucks.
It was absolutly the coldest I had ever been.
Good luck.

Do you guys see any changes and/or improvements made to the current 6061 next ice season? Would be crappy if I bought one this year only to be one uped next year with new improvements made to it. Thanks
There is a new drag that is being tested. And it is ALOT smoother.
James do you know if a person sends there 7 in to get upgraded to a 9, will the 3.17 be installed on the 9?
I have a 5 1/2 X 10 trailer and my Artic Cat 700 TRV and my Frabil Treker max fit on it perfectly.
When I bought mine last year I had the same problem,I called Marcum and they sent me a new unit with a call tag for the old one.
Sorry for your problem, hope you get the problem resolved.
There is a way to reset the system, but I cannot remember how, maybe someone on here remembers how that is done.
I hope what they have said is tru. I was told by Marcum that they would have the upgrades ready by the middle of November, then they said the first of December, and last week when I spoke with them they told me it would be the end of December or the first part of January.
I had a vs625sd and sold it so I could upgrade my 7,I have a trip planned in a week and will not have a camera with me…
I spoke with Marcum friday and they told me the end of dec. or first of the year.
They also told me it would be around the $500 range.
I will say that one time in South Dakota we went to turn our heater on(1 lb propane tank)and it was froze up,we ended up useing a 20 lb tank.We did not have any cover on the tank,so that might have made a diffrence.
I have not had any problems with gas freezing up.

i’d love to see the parts list for this…
1-7X5X3 project box(radio shack)
1-5X2.5X2 pproject box(radio shack)
1-on/off rocker switch(radio shack)
1- uv led (ebay)
1-enercell 2-conductor automotive accessory cable(o-reillys/radio shack)
1-battery(same as a flasher battery)
I put some foam around the battery just so it would not move around in the box.
You can probably find other places to get all the above items.
Yes drop your jig in the hole and you are ready to go.
The cord coming out the back is for my shack lights to plug into. And when I am done for the day just bring it in and plug into the charger.
Bought both cases from Radio shack,I think between them both they were $15.
The whole set up minus the battery was only $23
This is what I made, and you don’t have to worry about losing anything, and it will take alot less time then getting something out of your coat and turning it on.
I own a 7 and I like the bigger screen for me.And I will get the upgrade to the 9 when it is available, which I do not think will be an option on the 6.
Which ever way you go you will like the product.
