    Use Seafoam, add it to your fuel and see if it helps.

    I think we are getting lost here.
    BassHog has an Evinrude 2 stroke, the Yamaha mentioned is a 4stroke, there are no lifters on 2 strokes, the boat he has doesn’t have a portable fuel tank, but a built in, so there is no problem with venting.

    I would say fuel pump, and have compression checked, if 1 or 2 cylinders are bad, it will start and idle rough.

    If you guys are intereste in a power lift for kickers, I have an almost new Garelick hydro lift for up to 25hp.

    They are very well built, Cabelas sells them for $ 1,100 I can sell it for $ 395

    I hate to be a pessimist, but you might have other problems with it. Those years the VRO (oil injection, if it is) wasn’t a good thing, I would suggest taking it to somebody to have it compression tested, even a car mechanic can do it, just unscrew plugs and connect a tester, which cost approx $ 50.00, and it’s a handy tool to have.
    If compression results are fine, you can get to carburation issues, which could be more simple and less expensive to fix.
