Why should we stop doing something that we enjoy doing when it is legal to do so?

Some people are against even the very thought of fishing. Should we stop that? How about hunting…..That offends a lot of people. Should you staop doing that? Vegans would tell you eating beef is the only way to go. Are you giving up steak????????

By the time these laws get on the books they have been analysed to death. No body is pulling a fast one. A DNR lawyer sits in on everychange and prevents the DNR from making legle blunders.

I am aware of the law and expesct not to be harassed while participating in the sport I love while doing it. In reality the DNR officer in question could more than likely be ticketed for violating the law which protects sportsman from harasement while legaly pursuing game in Wisconsin. Man do I wish someone had filled a complaint.

I made a suggestion…. If you need to see fish at a weigh in then so be it, or show off a hawg to stroke your ego your welcome to, all Ive seen you do is RIP anyone thats against anything you like, theres alweays 2 sides to a coin here. Im not overly impressed with weigh ins and guys trying to show off 2-4 pound fish like they just won the classic or something…. I guess for me fishing is mostly about relaxation and shooting the bull with buddies, yeah we get competitive and I also fish some limited tournaments but one thing you need to remember is tournament anglers are the minority, even if thats the way you make your living (directly or indirectly)….. I could go on for hours but Im not gonna…. have fun catch fish

If its just a small tourney go to a paper tourney, measure them, take a pic on the board and release them, can be done in under 45 seconds easy (20-30 if your paying attention) if ya need to wait for the camera put the fish in your net and back into the water while your getting it ready. I don’t understand the whole weigh in thing anyway on these smaller club events, most of these guys are bringing back a bunch of 2-3 pounders anyway who wants to look at those. If your absolutely hung on weight (oooof that sounded bad) change the measuring to a lipgripper scale or a digital weighing a bagged fish (not as good for the fish either way) If ya catch a pig ya can always bring it back to brag

Sometimes when I’m in a tournament, i will acctually go up to a “perch jerker” face the bow away from them, trim up my motor and rev it and spray them, just to keep the stereotype of a bass fisherman….ONLY KIDDING!

We sure do get a bad rap don’t we?

Man I spit all over my computer reading that….. it would be even funner with a boat like mine, outboard jet with power trim

I think they are just clarifying some rules for C&R waters on that first statement, I could be wrong but the rule used to be kinda vague. It doesn’t say anything in there about culling or not….. which by the way I read the current rules is illegal anyway

I bought two All Star Select rods from [censored] last year, used them all last year mostly for casting lures, I had no problems, I would actually buy a few more if i could find them.

hmmm you think man made structure makes a river a better fishery? I think it makes it a worse fishery, all in ones opinion I suppose. I dont understand how anyone would not blame excel energy for this , just my personal opinion, and ohhh by the way comparing my measly 50-60 pounds of garbage a month and my fuel use to what “big” business does is out of line. I think Im now a little dumber after reading that post

On to the fish kill its been reported as a couple thousand yoy smallies a couple hundred adults and numerous “rough” fish (like walleyes ) have been reported dead….. this is only the floaters, and doesn’t take into account the “sinkers” and delayed mortality… IMHO its a BIG deal for this area…. and ya’ll better just stay down there for a couple years and not try to fish this area cuase there all dead

The “upper” section you listed was posted in 06 as infested, they found Zebra mussels in Rice Lake in Brainerd so they listed the whole stretch as infested.

Hey I caught 2 small channells last week on hair jigs they fought about 1/2 as much as the smallies

Jig and pig hands down produces the biggest for me, funnest to fish would be a Buzzbait or anyother topwater, best #’s go to a wacky rigged senko or a tube

There catchable… think hairjigs for water under 40 degrees Heres one from Thursday

Its a different river up here but I am well south of any artificial warmth Water temps are still below 40 here and these areas are usually inaccessible because of Ice at the ramps and ice over the deep slow areas…. not to mention the riffles you have to go through to get there

Sorry about the size of the pic… I tried to resize to 320×240 and it wont change the size on here

Steve I would take the bet……just one problem… I dont think theres many 28″ eyes up here….. I know theres plenty of pig smallies but havent caught a big eye in years up here

Ohhh and I forgot to add I wasn’t trying to take away from those nice eyes either, definetely would be fun to catch……. till Bass season is open

Alvin I think Ranger has there hulls made at the same place that made mine, looks to be the exact same hull…. 6 degree deadrise, not near as fast as a RP, shallow water performance on mine is not bad, but unlike a RP you have to keep her on the throttle hard, but she’ll still run on 4 inches of water (with a little bit of luck, and lots of white knuckles) Mine has a top speed of around 34 mph with a 115/80 on it Im guessing that this would be more like 28mph with a good load probably more like 24, Outboards suffer alot in the top speed department! Incidentally KT built a outboard hull with the same rakes and deadrise as his inboard hulls, and he got 34 mph unloaded with a 60/40. I think the extra lift a RP has generates more speed, just my 2 cents

We’ve had good discussions about this on another site, I dont think they are there! I caught a 21.5 last year that looked to be about as old as the river itself, a 24″ smallie in the river would have to have awesome genetics and a crawfish bufft infront of it 24/7! A true 24″er would be a freak!
