Luckily, first pick is mine. I will not go see them until the eyes are opened, then I will probably go every other week. I know what I’m looking for but interested in hearing what you guys would look for in a new pup.

Yes, it’s about letting the birds get off the roost and into the cover. There are so many birds just walking down the road at sunrise, the road hunters would take too big of a toll.

Ditto on that. I used to wonder this myself, until I started driving around at first light, and seeing all of the birds along the roads, in field and ditches, until about 8:30am, and then they would disappear until the dogs would get them up Good luck this weekend and stay safe

I agree with Farmboy. Start on the obidience right away!! If you don’t do it now, your dog will be much harder to control in the field. Unless you yourself have been properly trained with an E-collar, do NOT use it! If you have given your dog the proper obedience training there is no need for it anyway. When starting to train the retrieve, ALWAYS keep it fun, with lots of positive re-enforcement!!! Good luck with the Pup, there are lots of good memories ahead!

I’d say your lucky to get out of there with only 1. Not sure I would have been that lucky. Too cute!!

I’m not sure if you are getting the private messages I sent you, but I would love some information if you wouldn’t mind. if you would like you can email me at [email protected]. Thank you.

I had the same thing in a lab of mine. I switched to the “Native” brand of dog food and she cleared right up. Don’t know if that would help you, but worth looking into.

Thanks for all of the info. I was doing some research, and was wondering where do you get the Nutrisource brand around here? Closest I could find on the dog food advisor site was over 200 mile away.
