August 13, 2013 at 3:31 am #1189256Growing up in Sothern Wi. 1970-1990’s I remember and have pictures of snow drifts as high as the power lines and no shortage of ice. Delavan Lake, Wi has had a short period of freeze the last few years. Lake Geneva in front of the library was always frozen. In Northern WI, my benchmark has been Second week of deer hunting for walkable ice,has been hit or miss, for ice fishing.

The Humminbird is a great unit and works great. Funny how you post anytime you read the word Humminbird flasher. We all get it. Marcum is paying your bills! Your face is on the website. Humminbird, Marcum, and Vexilar are all great units! My exeperience from Marcum customer service has been poor. Google Marcum Customer service and guess what my I get
#845529 – 12/21/09 02:52 PM. I bought a Marcum camera and it failed out of the box and because the folks were in “Limbo” I ate it and was never used. It’s about Personal Preference.December 1, 2010 at 3:39 am #913623Thanks for the report! My dad, brother and I opened the season on Saturday on a Hayward area lake. Can’t beat first Ice!
November 8, 2010 at 2:45 am #908412I used dryer sheets last year for the first time and the critters had a comfortable winter.
November 8, 2010 at 2:34 am #908410Have you Googled it? I had a American Water Heater professionally installed about the same time by O’connor plumbing and heating. It failed in 13 months. One month after the warrenty! Simply amazing.

February 5, 2010 at 2:11 am #839881I have sent two emails and left one voicemail at this point reguading the Marcum VS380 I purchased. I used it three times. The CRT monitor screen has a black border and image is off center. Camera inside of Manta rattles. Hours are apparently 8am – 4pm M-F. No one answers as I have called randomly during that time frame. The website states a 48 hour contact period.
March 7, 2005 at 2:57 am #347562I have a good assortment of these. Worth checking out. I think you get a better quality rod for a lot less money.
Check out the reel seats, just like a Loomis.December 11, 2004 at 10:31 pm #331296Fireflick’s boat is a beauty. Although,I too have had a boat for sale all year with no takers. I was looking at selling my boat and buying a newer used fully rigged boat. I bought the boat used at a great price and the dealer is willing to trade-in and payoff the remainder of the loan balance. I just did not know if I should buy and finance the electronics from the dealer because I felt they were probably closer to the MSRP than a sporting goods store.
December 9, 2004 at 6:08 am #330895Thanks for the info. As far as the bass fishin? Well OK. My Smallmouth bass fishin spot early spring is under the 63 bridge Wisconsin channel (down steam from the closing dam.)Pitch a jig and plastic up to the shore on the Wisconsin side or bounce it off the pillars. Under the bridge is good. Left side while facing down steam. First pillar closest to shore across from boat ramp.
May 8, 2004 at 2:07 am #304140—Not to sound negative—Ramp is great. Parking lot is great. Very nice park. Just be sure to not leave those valuables in your vehicle. That ramp has a history of coming back to your vehicle after a great day of fishing and at times things tend to be missing. I did not lock the back of my truck topper and I had a Columbia quad parka gone. Have friends that duck hunt leaving from there with similar experiences. Be safe.
May 23, 2003 at 4:19 am #267231The great thing about the river is that you cannot be set on anyone tactic. You have read about trolling recently, but that will change throughout the year. In order to catch fish consistantly an angler needs to be versatile.Bring all sorts of stuff (Jigs, Three-WAy-rigs with cranks or floaters, casting equip., leadcore for trolling, fireline for trolling, etc………)
1)Buy maps of the area you want to fish (Fishing Hotspots or something)
2)Find a boat ramp in the area you would like to fish. (Pools 2,3,4,5 etc.)
3)Drive your boat around and note where people are fishing and what techniques they are using.
4)FISH
Or, Better yet go out for a day with one of the FTR staff. I have been told they are great!April 16, 2002 at 3:42 am #241178Where do you buy a 4 – 6 oz weight ? Is a 45 degree angle important? If two people are in the boat and we run 4 lines do you run equal weight on them all?
April 16, 2002 at 1:41 am #241147I keep telling myself that a 30in or better would be a wall hanger. I’ve caught a few and just can’t do it. Take a picture and let em go.
