i either saw a commercial for, or saw an ad in a magazine for open water tip-ups that could also be used for ice fishing, or vice versa…..they looked just like the polar ones from frabill but that wasn’t the brand. if i find it i’ll let you know

I went to an ice fishing seminar last weekend and they talked about it there. The guy said that he believes that it is only good for deeper waters. In shallow water, there isn’t alot of line stretch and it shakes the jig too much to look natural and would scare the fish away. When it is used in deep water, there is alot of line stretch so that the line can absorb most of the shake and gives the jig that little vibration that could potentially drive the fish wild. I don’t think that it would support a spring bobber too well, and it does look kind of flimsy and not well put together.
December 8, 2003 at 3:53 am #284432I use pink, black, and yellow rembrandts often without anything on it but scent and I have done a number to the slabs down the the big river.
November 30, 2003 at 6:32 pm #283467At the beginning of last years ice fishing season, I used wool glommits. They provided average warmth and all, but if i had to make a quick grab down the hole to get a big crappie and they got wet, that was the worst thing ever. They soak it up and hold it in. I even had them freeze solid after i took them off and put them down and borrowed a pair of someone elses gloves. I got wise and decided to use a pair of chopper mittens. They kept me warm and didn’t soak up water, and unlike gloves, they left space for hand warmers to be put in. Although they are a bit cumbersome in that you have to take them off to change baits, tie knots, etc., they are sure as hell better than frostbite !
August 16, 2003 at 10:57 pm #273547The good lookin guy at the top is me, the next guy is my father Craig, and the last one is my brother Tim. We slammed the big crappies that day down to the big river. My dad is coming back from a fishing/sight seeing trip in Alaska so I am hoping to have his pictures developed soon to get them to you all.

July 31, 2003 at 3:03 am #272045alright Kid i think you went a little bit too far with the norwegian comment…..i belive the correct term is truncheon-pedimentally challenged
p.s. hey all you moderators…you think your hot stuff with your big shot green names? i’d tell you what i’d do if i had a green name. I’d…..well….umm….well i don’t know because they won’t give me one!!! lol
July 31, 2003 at 2:44 am #272039even though i don’t specifically “target” whites I do tend to catch quite a few with my number one crappie lure, the zip lure. I’ve noticed i have caught the most on the silver colored ones….i’ve also noticed that i get snagged and lose the silver ones the most
p.s. do you guys keep em and filet em or just throw em back?
p.p.s jeez i hope mavzer doesn’t get on my case about “selling” zip lures…lol

12 guage shells don’t cost that much, do they?July 4, 2003 at 2:31 am #269939all ya gotta do is the “accidental” slip and head hit against the side of the boat deal…. or carry one of them cool gaff’s loaded with .44 mag shots that they use to subdue them big halibut things. Otherwise i’m all for KwikStik’s idea about the shotgun thing. Who wouldn’t love blastin harmfully invasive fish! I suppose there would be some legalities to be worked out though..
July 1, 2003 at 2:44 am #269682how exactly do you “tune” a bait. probably a stupid question but i don’t like to use big baits very often….them big pike will take a bunny hair fly just as easily as they’ll take a huge crank bait….or so it says in my latest issue of outdoor life…which by the way either that or the latest issue of in-fisherman magazine had an add where our own Steve Dezurik (sp?) testified about catching over 90 walleye from late dusk til the wee hours of the morning…..
June 21, 2003 at 10:24 pm #269077yea there it is again at his best! It took me months to lobby for that name.!

May 3, 2003 at 2:22 am #265801hey gimpy, has anyone ver told you that you bare a strange likeness to Adam Corrolla, one of the hosts on comedy central’s “The Man Show”? Does anybody else watch that show and know what i’m talkin about?
May 1, 2003 at 11:46 pm #265718speaking of subliminal messages, somebody told me that in movie reels in the 50’s and 60’s they would put every hundred frames or so a frame that would show a pepsi or some popcorn, and it would be too quick for you to see but your brain would respoond, and you’d think, “Hey, i want a pepsi and some popcorn….” (just for good measure)
