Congrat’s John. That’d be a great catch for anywhere within 100 miles of CR.You traiter. I thought we agreed that there wasn’t anything in that water but catfish and carp. Now you’ve went and ruined everything. I’m gonna have to go back down there and try somemore, only now I gotta work even harder…Damn. Don’t spose there’s a picture? I rode the hog down there Sunday just after 12’ish and didn’t see you. Or what I thought would be you. I hung around the lot till I started to feel like a “lot lizzard” and headed her on over the bridge tward Solon and points North.
September 30, 2003 at 12:40 am #256258Give everyone a hug and a kiss from me John, I’ll be commin home from a week of fishin Pool 4 that particular Sunday. Least ways thats the plan.
TriggerSeptember 26, 2003 at 1:32 am #257774I believe the ramp you speak of is not of much use. I’m thinkin that the last time I was down there looking around that ramp was mostly blocked by trees in the water. Do not hold me to it as I haven’t been down there sence spring. Nuther thing, There’s a ramp on opposite side of river. Its gravel but I have put my Lund in there before. No problem. To get to it turn west on CRF 20 (Cou Falls) from 965. Go west to CRW 48, aprox 2.85 mi. hang a left, go to the North end of the Green Castle bridge and hang a left, Ur there. Neither one of the ramps or parking lots are worth a hoot, matter of fact they make you wanta go in the corner and throw up. Ahhh Im just spoiled, spent too much time on pool 4. I keep forgettin I’m back in Iowa. Im sure the DNR is doing everything they can to stock walleyes and build good ramps and docks. You know what they call the person with the LOWEST grade average to graduate from medical school don’t you? DOCTOR.
Oh ya, lets put West liberty back where it belongs Southeast of North Liberty about 21 miles as the crow flies, or there’s gonna be a ton of people not being able to find their way home.
One more thing. I did catch a Walleye in the Iowa River one time and it was about 15 feet up river of the Green Castle Bridge. Oh thats right, it was in 1964. Too bad I didn’t think of catch and release back then, It might have been a female and she may have started a family in that dam river and the state wouldn’t have to figure ways NOT TO STOCK.
Dam I think I been wearing my Dew RAGG way to tight lately.
Ok I’m done now
TriggerSeptember 23, 2003 at 2:57 am #259789Less things have changed in the last 30 some years up there in Minneapolis, It’d be quicker and easier to try trollin Hennepin Ave…I recon them strippers are thick as fleas yet
September 22, 2003 at 3:25 am #261224We’re plannin in a couple weeks Bill. Same place. Ifn Pat don’t go on strike. Their contract is up the end of this week. I worked all weekend so have no fishin to talk about.
September 9, 2003 at 1:26 am #275692Well now, Ifn I’d a knowed they had strippers over in Mcbride I’d a probably gib em a try…Maybe tomorrow. I’ll ask the wife if she’ll let me bring home a mess of strippers tomorrow.
September 5, 2003 at 5:28 pm #275384Now listen John, I don’t think you’re payin attention here. It says .Macbride – Johnson County No-wake speed , Unlimited h.p., From September 12 through May 20.
No-wake speed, 10 h.p. or less, From May 21 through September 11. Ohhhhh, I know what happened, you met up with one of them guys that live down on the lake. One of the Owners…. OOOOOOO now I know what happened.. DAHHHSeptember 5, 2003 at 1:36 am #275320Ok buddy, well this is what I copied off the dnr sight… Hope it dont bust your bubble of Setp 7 … Those folks get a little more time on THEIR PRIVATE lake the way it looks to me. Where did you get the Sept 7 date? Macbride ————– Johnson County
No-wake speed, Unlimited h.p., From September 12 through May 20.

September 4, 2003 at 9:18 pm #275302Big B, I kinda enjoy posting here, Its just I hate to have to be so negative all the time. Thats not the way I am. But I gotta tell ya the truth.
September 1, 2003 at 1:10 pm #274904Let me put it this way John, I put in at Mcbride and trolled up river past High Rock (or what ever it is they call that where the ding dongs jump off that rock) On up 2 more coves. Thats about 2 miles one way. I stopped along the way about a half dozen times to try for crappies. I was tryin to work the edge of the channel for walleyes. Turned around and decided to work the MUD FLATS IN ABOUT 8 FOOT OF WATER. Well I trolled everything from 3-4 foot down to 10 foot and from creeping crawl to over 4 mph GPS all the way back to just below Jolly Rodgers and finally got sick of doin nothin and reeled in so I could clean the cobs out of the motor back to the dock and get the hell out of there. Now I don’t proclaim to be even a good fisherperson. However I felt that even someone as inept as me could have found one that wanted to commit suicide. Hell by that time I would have been happy to have snagged a 2×4 2 foot long to fiight.. I just have no faith in that lake and its for a good reason. Oh sure you can go down there and catch Cat fish anytime you want. For me, catfishin was years ago. Now im into walleyes and crappies. Ahhh, its probably a month too earlie yet? Whats the walleye insider say bout that?
August 23, 2003 at 7:10 pm #274048Boone, you just answered your own question. That is what the recomended rating for that tire is. If YOU need a bigger rating then your going to have to go to a heavier trailer. Or get tires that have higher ratings. The way it looks to me is you can have 1500 lbs on your trailer (assuming you have a tire on each side of the trailer) and no more than 60psi of air in each tire.

August 16, 2003 at 10:49 pm #273546Ryan, yes you can splice that cable and it will work just great. I have spliced my old unit (luckily new one not need it yet) a hundred times. It got to the point that I ended up just putting a RCA jack (male & female) in the cable. Problem was that my foot would lean on the foot pedal of the bow mounted motor and turn it too far and the cable would only streatch so far till it would come apart at the splice. You know how you can get excited when landing those bigns’ … Anyway it got to the point where I couldn’t keep up with the splicing so figured I’d put a plug on it so It would just pull apart when nessessary. Works great.
August 8, 2003 at 1:06 pm #272839Let me be the first to wade in on this sea of controversy. I have a 1994 40hp Merc oil injected, that I bought new. Sence then I have used nothing but Lubrimatic 2 cycle. I have never had an ounce of trouble. At least trouble related to oil. As a mater of fact. to be honest with you, I have only even changed the plugs once, and that was cause my conscience started bothering me about not having changed them. I also spend hour after hour on Pipen trolling. I felt the same way you do about the big difference in the oils. Merc is up around 16-18 bucks a gallon and lubrimatic is around 6-7 bucks a pop. Well there’s my 2 cents worth. Lets see what others feel.

August 4, 2003 at 9:49 am #272382Thanks for the report John. Your right, even in the days when I wanted to catch a Cat I never had to figure 8 em. Man you must be desperate. Its nice to know who wears the pants in the family. Now all you have to do is get the wife to be so demanding
August 3, 2003 at 5:01 pm #272353Mike, I see your comment about Iron Silk and was just wondering what you don’t like about that. I been using it this year for the first time and haven’t had a problem. Just wondering if I should be prepaired to have it turn to powder or maybe just melt off the reel or what?
Thanks
TriggerAugust 2, 2003 at 11:44 pm #272316Hay Chitwood46, I would also be interested in the take for the day. I have wore out a few poles, reels, and a couple of my shad raps are still hung there in that stretch of river from Quaker Oats on up to where you cant go no more cause it gets two shallow. Up above Seminole valley. I have spent countless hours tryin for sauger/walleye. Still none. If you come back and tell me someone is catchin Walleye/Sauger in that streatch I just may not be able to handle it. Remember the song ACHEY BREAKEY HEART by Billy Ray Syrus (sp) Well news like that might just up and kill this man. I’ll be waiting for catch info with baited breath…
TriggerJuly 17, 2003 at 2:58 pm #270927The prop shaft could also be slightly bent. Take off the prop, put it in neutral and see if the prop shaft “wobbles” or “swings” as you turn it. It’d be nice if you knew someone that had a dial indicator to check it with. If that shaft is bent the vibration will be in direct relation to the severity of the bend. Thus it may not show up till you give it a few RPM. In other words, the more the bend the sooner In speed you will feel the boat and motor shake.
July 17, 2003 at 2:46 pm #270925Bill I Know your windy, and Im bettin its close to 8/17/03 at about 8:53PM..
July 15, 2003 at 4:45 pm #270699Mine came straight out of the wifes kitchen. Course, when I found out how good it worked, SHE ended up with a new one. That was a few years ago and still runnin great. Only thing I did to make it better was to add on to the cord to make it more mobile. Works great and wouldn’t have it any other way.
July 13, 2003 at 2:29 pm #270516I feel for ya John, Go on out to Rad shack and get it over with. They ought-a have what you need.

June 6, 2003 at 12:24 am #267963I don’t know Bill, Sounds like to me, the guys are sayin you’r kinda windy? Could this be? See ya Saturday.
May 16, 2003 at 12:19 am #266752River Rat, the best thing you can do is get the transdusers as far apart as possible. What your trying to do now is like having two different radios turned on, one on each side of you on the desk, on two different ball games and Sammy Sosa is at bat in the left ear and that Bonds guy is at bat in the right ear. Your finders (your head) is suffering from information overload. I know of no filter for this problem. If one of the transdusers was at the front of the boat and the other one at the back then it would help.
Good luck
TriggerMay 4, 2003 at 8:18 pm #265837Thanks for the update. I worked this weekend and didn’t get a chance to get out ..
April 23, 2003 at 11:28 pm #264962You say the fuel line is xtra long? It could be kinked somewhere from the tank to the engine.Maybe an anchor is layin on it? If so It would maybe act the way you speak. Another thing is if the vent valve on the tank is closed It would cause this problem. It sounds like you aren’t getting air to the fuel system. Or Maybe its as simple as the fuel filter being dirty? There again if it sat around for a couple years with gas in the tank maybe the OTHER filter IN THE TANK is gunked up.With any luck its one of these, otherwise it sounds like its expensive, from an earlier post.
