I also have twins that are 8. They will come fishing as well, but it’s definitely on their own terms. I don’t take the time I spend with them for granted, no matter what it is that we are doing. If that time is doing ANYTHING outdoors, even better.
I can say that fishing with 1 boy at time…no problem. 2 boys at time…workable. 3 at a time…challenging!
March 25, 2013 at 4:19 pm #1155988Great pics!
My oldest is now 10, and begs me to take him out fishing regularly. Of course, I certainly don’t mind.
March 15, 2013 at 11:21 am #1152257I know they are working fast and furious in a very difficult situation. Hopefully the effects are very short lived.
January 21, 2013 at 9:40 pm #1133337Doesn’t everyone else just place an order on-line before the start of the season? That’s usually when I find the best deals, and free shipping.
January 17, 2013 at 4:43 pm #1131903There’s going to be a lot of good games down the stretch, with the loaded Big Ten this year.
Bucky hasn’t finished in the middle of the pack the last decade, and no reason to think they will this year either.
But Gopher fans…enjoy the bandwagon while you can!
January 17, 2013 at 2:55 pm #1131825The fish are fine to eat. Algae bloom in summer is far different than heavy metals advisary. I keep enuff for meals now and then, but mostly thru the ice. I also think I’m doing OK…but will leave judgement up to someone else as well.
Russ, I thought you only ate musky, and other rough fish?
January 11, 2013 at 7:02 pm #1129582Must be some sort of mistake…really thought it was mine!
I’d say go back to the beginning and start over again.
January 10, 2013 at 8:08 pm #1129108Kudos for coming back with this report!
Keep ’em charged up, and have fun out there.
January 8, 2013 at 9:01 pm #1128352Anyone have GPS coordinates to the sewage treatment plant, or some other less than desirable location?
January 8, 2013 at 5:17 pm #1128233Sure sounds like what my older VX-1 will do when the battery gets really low, or there’s a bad connection somewhere. Seems doubtful that you would get 2 bad tranducers.
I’ve never had to deal with Marcum customer service, but I’m sure you will get it resolved.
January 3, 2013 at 7:15 pm #1126526In addition to Ratso’s and Shrimpo’s…Little Atom Nuggies can work great.
December 16, 2012 at 2:03 pm #1120859Marcum VX-1. Crisp, clear, and bottom zoom. Used units to be had under 200.
October 31, 2012 at 6:40 pm #1108701I really like the light Suffix for pannies. Been using the Hi Vis the past few years, and will be sticking with it.
October 3, 2012 at 12:12 pm #110263610″ holes and kids just don’t mix. Not that wet feet won’t happen with an 8″ hole, but that’s where it ends.
I’ve only caught one fish that I wished I had a 10″ hole, and that was on Rainy Lake with Mr. Granrud!
July 23, 2012 at 3:31 pm #1086611We stopped last summer on the way to the North Shore, and my 7 and 9 yr olds absolutely loved it. So much in fact, that we had to stop AGAIN on the way home.
July 4, 2012 at 2:17 am #1080918As someone who works in highway construction, you wouldn’t believe some of the stuff you see. PLEASE slow down, and pay attention to the signs etc.
That said, and because nobody was seriously hurt…that was really cool!
May 1, 2012 at 8:48 pm #1064508Oh…talking REAL tools.
Here I thought it was going to be thread about old politicians…
April 16, 2012 at 8:54 pm #1059521I picked up an LG Lucid from Verizon about 2 weeks ago. Well actually 4 of them for work accounts. The performance aspect has been very good, with battery life typical of Smart phones.
It has a slim, smaller case so it’s easy to slip into a pocket. Also the $80 price tag is hard to touch with anything else.
We work in areas where coverage is suspect, and the phone gets good reception.

Also everyone can’t be bagging on Tubby for the program. He has risen it from the ashes honestly. Don’t you guys remember how awful the teams were before he came. Now at least we have talent. Yea, some of his gameplan decisions are poor but we all need to wait until next year to start saying he needs to leave. Next year if Mbakwe stays which he should, and no one else transfers, this team will be a serious conference contender with all of the returning players and now having experienced guards.
A serious conference contender?
Certainly stronger with Mbakwe, but I think Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, and yes even Wisconsin might have something to say about that…
March 1, 2012 at 5:07 pm #1044990Sometimes the breather tube can get clogged. Try running it with a loostened gas cap if you haven’t already.
February 24, 2012 at 7:59 pm #1042711Kev nailed it. Use 6″ or smaller, make sure you can’t lose it down the hole (thin plywood and hose clamp works fine) and keep batteries warm. Throwing batteries in a hat, etc. with a hand warmer can do wonders.
I use my setup until the ice gets to 8″ or so, then I’ll pull out the power auger. Sure would beat cranking by hand, anyday.
February 24, 2012 at 12:13 pm #1042367I had them do a prop for me, but it was for an inboard ski boat, so a bit more of a specialty item. I dropped it off, and they returned shipped to me for free, and a couple of days ahead of what they had told me. Runs good…no complaints!
I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
